Hey guys we are from Texas and I have been to Six Flags many times. When it rains it pretty much is go home as I guess Six Flags cannot opperate in the rain. But as me and my then wife celebrate our honeymoon on 4-5-04 at the WORLD, what happens when it rains? I mean can you still go on the rides at all the parks, do the parades still happen, etc.... Is it the same regardless if it is sunny or rainy with or with our thunder and lightning? This is both the first for us to Florida and to Walt Disney World. So let us know.::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

When it does rain it is nice because is cools the temperature down for a while(it is fun to run in the rain too!). Most of the rides still go on if they are indoors, except for Tower of Terror and the rollercoasters(what I can remember). The parades do not continue if it rains and either do the fireworks at MK. and make sure to buy ponchos before you get to the park! they are really expensive at the parks!!!

The outside water attractione such as Splash Mt., Tom Sawyers Isle ferry rafts, etc. will stop operating if there is lightning. Otherwise, just put on that poncho and go out and have fun!! Until you've ridden BTMRR 5 times in a row, in the rain, you haven't lived!!! Oh yeah. Bring shoes that can get wet. If your sneaks get wet, stuff 'em with newspaper overnight. That really helps.

The best thing about the rain-- the parks do empty out. Or you have the people under awnings and such staring at you making your way through the park. It is amazing how many rides become "walkon's" during the rain.

We have never had a total "rain out" at WDW. I am told that storms often come and go quickly. Lots of folks leave, but if you can hang in there for a little while you should benefit from smaller crowds. That has been my experience on a couple of different occasions in the past.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

crow11ad, just wait 30 minutes and the rain will probably go away. Otherwise, just wear those ponchos and keep on trucking.

Have fun.

I went there one year where it rained every day for about 10 minutes each. I saw it as the perfect time to browse the gift shops!

why does tower of terror close during rain? I thought that was an inside ride?

I had to laugh at the post about riding BTMRR in the rain. One of my favorite memories was riding this ride in the rain. The rain was so hard it felt like being hit with small pieces of hail. When you go inside the mountain I felt like I was in the spin cycle of my washing machine. My family (DS 9 & DD 8 & DH) laughed so hard during that ride.

I agree with everyone else. Buy a poncho and keep it with you. Umbrellas are a pain to deal with. And bring shoes/sandals that dry quickly.

Have fun.

I was under the impression that April and October are almost rain-free months at Orlando. Have a great honeymoon!

Our very first trip to WDW in March 1995 was rainy. It spoiled us into thinking that there were never very many people in the parks and that we could just walk on to most every ride. LOL we had a real awakening when we returned later in the year!

That's exactly how I felt!!!! We got to laughing so hard we were crying!!! What a hoot. People don't know what they're missing.

I've never done BTMMR in the rain. I have done splash Mtn. in driving downpour rains though. We were only one of 3 logs w/ people. We were able to stay on as long as we wanted. Coming down the big drop we were getting soaked to the bone-- by the downpour.

I have to say---- I've dealt w/ a lot of rain in Disney. Only twice though has it been the "florida rain" For us it seems to rain hard all day at least 1/2 of our trip. So for everyone going next week--- pack extra poncho's.
