Accuweather's long range forecast is showing rain in the forecase for a good part of our upcoming visit to Orlando.

Does anyone have any suggestions for rainy days with a 2 1/2 year old?

Thanks.

they always show rain, but it always changes last second, thats what happened last time i went and it was sunny everyday with not a cloud in the sky, but if it does rain, rain in florida is come and go, it doesnt last for that long, and there are a lot of a shows and inside things to do for kids at the parks for the little while that it might rain, hope that helps!!

Rainy days are the best! The locals don't come and crowds are way down. Not as hot either. Almost all rides are inside and still open. They sell mickey rain gear the second the drops fall - or bring your own. Get a cover for your stroller if you are bringing one. We have had many days with our now 3 year old and it certainly doesn't stop him. The only thing you can't do is swim.

Here in Sunny Florida - we get more rain than almost any place else - except Northwest - so Disney is used to it.
:p

You can always go shopping at Downtown Disney. I'm sure Once Upon a Toy and the Lego store would entertain for a while.

We had Typhoon Lagoon practically to ourselves last spring when it rained. After the beautiful morning, a storm came. They evacuated everyone because of lightening. We ate lunch and came back in the drizzle and clouds and no one else really did!

My kids thought it was great.

As long as it's not lightening, you can still enjoy things. Epcot is a great park in the rain because most things are indoors. There are things for little ones to do at Innoventions and you can look at the sea life at the Living Seas. The Land is great too.

It usually rains briefly in Florida in the afternoons when it is hot. It ususlly blows over quickly and clears the air and cools it down. I have done WDW in the rain and it does not matter - its still fun. buy a poncho and a baseball cap and have a great time. Actually I prefer the clouds to the blazing heat in the scorching sun.

Heres a great weather web site: www.weatherunderground.com We travel frequently and find this to be quite accurate and informative.

When are you leavin - when I last checked the forcast it says scattered thunder showers - very typical and normal orlando weather and it definately will not ruin your trip.

See you there!

I used to live in Orlando, and though I don't think my family back home believed me, as I was leaving Wal Mart one day it started to POUR -- by the time I had walked/run to my car, it had stopped and the sun was out! Had the same thing happen on another occasion while crossing the street! Most rains in central Florida are very brief...
...unlike PA where it has been raining almost continuously since I woke up this morning!

Based on our experience last June, I find myself almost hoping for rain.....our most memorable night was one where it started raining late afternoon and didn't stop until midnight. We were at MK. Once the rain failed to let up after an hour or so, the crowds cleared and we were nearly able to walk onto every ride. The kids thought it was kind of fun to be walking around in rain ponchos and jumping in puddles. When we're there this year, I'll check the forecast, hope for rain, and then head to MK! :p

I agree with this, the first time I took my 3 and 5 year old in Once Upon A Toy, we spent almost 2 1/2 hours in that store alone!! There is alot to do there for kids and they had fun making Potato Heads and using the Tinkertoys! :):)

The cool thing about WDW compared to most other theme parks is that there are so many attractions that are indoors, and a lot of those are rides, not just shows. If it looks promising for rain, buy a $6 poncho and keep on truckin'. Dont let a little rain slow you down. We were there in Dec and it rained a LOT. Very unusual by Florida standards. We have a 8 and 10 yr old so its not the most convenient thing to deal with, but I think Disney really took all those worst case scenarios into consideration when they built the parks. You really can get more done on a rainy day at WDW than you can in any other situation that I can think of. Besides, you will probably end up with beautiful weather!

Thanks everyone, sounds like we'll be ok if it rains...But, I'm still going to hope it doesn't.

Alsol, had to a local dollar store before you go. I buy the 2 pack of rain ponchos for $1. I keep several packages in my backpack (they are really light). We have them in case of rain and for the Rapids in AK. Once we get off the ride if we are not going again right away, I give them away to very greatful people waiting on line. For $1 a spread a lot of Disney Magic.

Enjoy
Sandy

Don't count on the weather reports (ie. don't change your plans). We just got back-the forecast for everyday of our stay was partly cloudy, chance of thunderstorms or rain for almost everyday, highs in mid 80's. We had rain the first night of our stay for about 2 hrs. The rest of the time it was bright, sunny, 93-94 deg. All the CM's were commenting about how dry and unseasonably hot it's already been (they are concerned about fires again if they don't get any decent rain soon).
