I usually power through the rain storms with a poncho. I used an umbrella once ( bulky and awkward) and if caught off guard I'll just power through. Only once did I ever turn back to my hotel and that's because my daughter was wearing jeans and they were soaked right up to her knees.

I usually just keep on keepin' on, but this trip we had one night where the rain was so cold and unrelenting that we bailed and went back to the resort. I was so cold I bought pjs and socks!!

Eeek! I'll remember to bring warm clothes for this trip....just in case.

And thanks for responding...I was beginning to feel unloved. (sniff sniff) :flower3:

Thankfully we've only encountered a few passing storms during our previous trips. This time, I'm thinking we'll be getting a bit more rain since we are going in September. We're bringing ponchos and a rain cover for the stroller - but don't plan to leave the parks even if it rains all day!

We went a few years ago in August because of an event. The weather was miserable the whole time, upper 90's, humid, raining. But we just put our sandals and ponchos on and went about our trip. There were times we were walking through ankle deep water in lightening, but at least it was warm. :) We're from California so it was actually fun for us since we don't get much rain and even less thunderstorms. Our fireworks get cancelled if the breeze is too strong so to be watching them in a lightning storm was pretty cool.

We generally just carry on. I don't bring umbrellas because they are just more to carry and I'd hate to poke anyone in the eye! We watch the weather carefully and if there is just a chance of rain, we'll throw in disposable ponchos. If it really looks like heavy rain, we bring our heavy ponchos with a plastic bag to toss them in when we go inside for a ride or attraction.

On my last trip, as soon as I saw the storm clouds coming in I would find someplace outside, but with a little cover, because you know as soon as it starts, it stops! I just hate getting wet, but if it's going to rain for a while, I definitely just throw on a poncho. On my Epcot day, I was eating dinner at Via Napoli and heard the thunder begin. Well, I think I had the slowest waitress ever that night, and when I finally paid my bill, I pulled my poncho out of my bag and started haulin' booty! I made it to the Epcot ball before it just started pouring! I hid out for a minute and decided to head to the buses before everyone else.
I couldn't believe all the umbrella's I saw this trip! I love how your option says "Use umbrella and annoy other guests"! I was truly afraid I was going to lose an eye this year!

I've been really lucky, was only ever caught in bad rain once. It was totally down pouring so we had pretty much no choice but to go back to the resort, but any other time we just power through with ponchos and an umbrella if we really need it.

I just wear the lest bit of clothes as possible, shorts and a tank top(cotton is key!!) and keep on going! Fewer people the better and my clothes usually dry within an hour of the rain stopping. Going on a few rides such as the people mover at MK, the backlot tour at studios, everest at DAK, or even a boat ride at Epcot seems to dry me right off after a good rain.

Wear a baseball cap with your poncho. It keeps the hoodie part from slipping off and the cap does not get in the way like an umbrella.

I had a little clip with my last time to keep the hood from falling, buy I like how a cap keeps it out of your eyes.

This is what I do. I hate carrying a bag, so don't bother with ponchos. I wear shorts and thin Tshirts and tanks, so figure if I get wet, it's not a big deal and I'll dry out shortly. I will try to hop into a gift shop, an indoor ride, or somewhere else to wait it out, if I have time. I love the parks right after a rain. Most people had cleared out back to their resort and the parks are almost empty for those of us that choose to just wait it out.

We are from Seattle so the last time we got caught up in a shower, we just stood there saying "Oh thank God!!!" :rotfl2:

We still brought ponchos but never took them out! I like the cap idea though...:thumbsup2

have ponchos in our backpack. We usually go in the summer and afternoon/evening showers are common. If we expect heavy rains, we add rain jackets to the backpacks.

This past June it rained four out of five nights. It wasn't really hard rain but there intermittent thunder storms which closed some attractions each of those nights. We just slogged through. We missed a couple of FPs because the rides were still down at close. We still hit all of the attractions we wanted at least once and visited a couple that we might not normally do because they were inside.

If it starts to rain, I usually look for the longest line thats indoors that i'd normally FastPass. I'd much rather stand there for Soarin' and use the time wisely than pout in a doorway waiting for the rain to stop.

Oh we always tough it out!
During our first trip there together Hurricaine Jean came storming through Orlando. The parks and all outside resort stuff did close for a day and a half, but in the beginning before it closed Epcot had completely cleared out and it was literally hubby and I (and maybe 12 other people) tearing Epcot up! The CMs were BEGGING us to come on their rides. We did Maelstrom like 48 times. It was honestly the best time we've ever had!! Just me, my hubby, our ponchos and some VERY wet shoes.

Whenever it rains while we are in WDW, the kids and I quote Owl from Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day:
"This is just a mild spring zephyr !"

And we put our heads down and soldier on to an indoor ride.

It rained EVERY DAY on my last trip, but you know what, don't let it deter you from having fun. We saw it as a way to cool down. Sure the downpours were annoying, but if you can 'suck it up' for the rain, you will get to see more while everyone else is running for cover. If it's a resort day-go swimming! I love swimming in the rain as long as there isn't any lightening.

We are firm believers in powering through. Our very first trip as a family, on our very first day, we were at Epcot and it poured. We pulled out the ponchos (and stroller cover as DS was then 2) and walked onto every ride that we could. We had a blast pretending the park was 'ours' as there wasn't anyone there. It didn't hinder us from having a great day.:dance3:

On our last trip we had rain. Again, the skies opened and it poured while we were at Animal Kingdom. We hit the Kali River Rapids as no one else was crazy enough to go on a wet ride in the rain. Lol!:cool1:
