rain, thunder and lightening

so I dropped my younger dd off at her father's house, and then I drove home.

as I was driving north on the highway I could see a huge black thunderstorm up ahead. it looked, well, scary. fortunately I exited the northbound highway and got on the eastbound parkway before I got past the storm's outer edge.


the darn thing followed me home! I could see it in my rear-view mirror.

the skies opened up just as I pulled onto my driveway.

I was in the house for maybe five minutes when the power went out. we sat in the dark for about 10 minutes before the electric company restored our power.

I just love sitting in the dark and listening to thunder and rain.

I see your little rolleyes smilie, so that means you don't like to sit in the dark and listen to thunder and lightening?

I really like doing that, sometimes I'll turn off the lights and sit in the dark and enjoy the storm.

it's just that I don't enjoy being at the mercy of LIPA. if I turned off the lights, it would be different than being in the middle of something and suddenly finding myself in the dark.

Yep, it rained cats and dogs here in my neck of the woods on L.I. also. Just as I was shutting our French doors to keep the rain from coming in, a tremendous BOOM went off and scared me half to death. I didn't lose power though.

Now, of course, it's hot and humid--typical Long Island weather for the summer.

Yes, gotta love this weather.

One minute it was nice - the next the sky opened!!

At least we never lost power.

are you shocked that it rained? It's been raining in our neck of the woods since April!!! I was on Long Islane today - left before the storms though.
