Good evening friends. I am going to try to get the birthday posted so I can go to bed. I'm entirely too old to be up till 4:30 am and get back up at 8. Let's start with Tuesday 1:00 pm.
Sandi and I had emailed back and forth all morning making plans as to how to meet. We finally decide it will all work out and she heads to the airport. Sheri called me and said she should be home by 2:30 so to be at her house at 2:45. I called Sharon to let her know I'm leaving work, stopping at the car wash and get a lunch. Meet at my house around 2. I had already spoken with Cindy this morning and she had worked Monday night and got home at 8:00. She was headed to bed and we were to call her an hour before we were ready to leave. Perfect plan.
Sharon gets to my house, get's Sheri's sign made and we load the car with our stuff. We drive to Sheri's and get her things. Sheri decides she is going to drive. Fine by me. We go pick up Cindy. Sheri gets sidetracked playing with the puppy so I get to plaster the sign on the trunk of the car. Picture later. Everyone is driving by and honking and Sheri says what am I doing and why are all of these people honking? Cindy just says 'you should wave'.
It takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get to Kansas City.

Sandi's plane left a little late. She was going to get her rental and drive to Overland Park where we were to meet at Cheesecake Factory. Sandi sends me a text and is running late. About this time Sheri says why are all these people honking at me and Cindy just says I don't know but wave at them. Then Sheri says "alright, who put the sign on the car?" Sharon said 'not me' Sheri says who made a sign for the car and I say 'not me' (We didn't lie) She was afraid we would beat her so I told her we would stop at Belton for a bathroom break. As we get out of the car Sheri sees the sign, does a double take and laughs. She never did take it off. Then we see a store and those girls decide shopping is in order. That was fine till I get a text that Sandi is there and is already seated.
I'm trying to hurry them up and they continue to shop. I say I'm getting kinda sick and I really need to eat. Told Sheri I hadn't eaten since around 11 Nothing makes her angrier but it worked. They hurry up and we get on the road in 5:00 TRAFFIC. And road construction. So I'm texting to Sandi, she's texting back. Sheri finally says 'what are you doing and who are you talking to?' I told her it was my friend's birthday (which it was) and we were chatting.
About 10 minutes out I tell her I'm calling CCF because I had talked to them earlier in the day about call ahead seating.(of which they don't accept). I call Sandi and act like I'm talking to the restaurant. Sheri is so totally buying this. We get in and I sign us in. Sheri is over looking at desserts as we are walking to the table. I stop and tell her to get over here. We have to eat, I'm sick. So Cindy first, then Sharon and Sheri. I had to be last so I could get pictures.
So now I will show the picture that made me cry. If I ever had a doubt about my girls and how much they care for each other, this completely erased any doubt I could ever have had. I cry thinking about it.

After 2 hours we leave CCF to head to the hotel.

Sandi has to go back up to a
Walmart where she had ordered a cake. So Sheri, Sharon and Cindy head to the hotel. We had rooms at Harrahs casino. One was free and $39 for the other. When they got there we ended up with adjoining rooms, king with sofa sleeper and 2 doubles and they gave both of them to us for free. How great is that.

We head back to the hotel and at 10:00 we are ready to head to the casino. We play for about 1 1/2 hours and none of us are really winning so we head over to Ameristar. We did a little better over there and are starting to get tired so we go back to Harrahs so if anyone wants to go to bed they can. Well, after getting back our luck did a turn for the better. We are getting more and more tired but we didn't care. Around 4:15 we decide we really should go to bed. Of course we must have pictures.

We decide it would be cool if we got her with a big winner sign. We were outside the hotel and she had to climb on a cigarette ashtray to get tall enough.

This morning we got up early. Sandi and Sheri headed to the Starbucks and brought treats for everyone. Then we had to do the cake.

We went to the casino for an hour then headed to the mall for every girls fun. SHOPPING. We stopped at a Mimi's Cafe for lunch. Quite good. Service was terrible. We shopped till 5 and then decided we needed to go. Sheri wanted to see her boys before it got too late and Sandi's plane left at 6:50. I so dreaded seeing this day end.
I truly could not have wanted for more. We got home about 8:20. Traffic was awful leaving due to the timing. As I was closing the garage door Sandi was driving home from the airport. It was so nice we could have such fun and be safe.
One more good note. Andrew had his first soccer game last nite. He plays JV as he is a sophomore. But he got an assist and scored a goal. Yay Andrew. He was so excited.
Thank you all friends for posting on fb to which Sheri happy birthday. It truly was.

It is actually not too tough- just follow a pattern. It is the 2-3 hours of cold hands that makes me ALMOST not want to do it every year, though! 
I'm always tripping over things. I find any way possible to embarrass myself. Once, when I was 18 or so, my friend pointed out some guys we liked walking down the street & I crashed into a snow bank. Utter humiliation.

). So, I really really hope we do not encounter the flu! my parents asked me today if I was going to do the flu shot! just have not decided although I do think Danny, Gwendolyn and Dayne should!
