Rain, Surprise Birthdays, Rain, First Visits -(Ginny is deceased-Prayers for her.)

I guess we'll soon find out. I think we can swing a seven day cruise for about as much as a Disney trip would cost, but the bonus is that I only have to drive to Mobile, which isn't nearly as far as Disney! Well, that's next year. Who knows what could happen between now and then? :confused3

:thumbsup2 Ya'll will love it!!! Even DS will love it!!!It is a very nice, relaxing, and exhilarting vacation.

My mom called me last night and was making reservations again for Spring Break next year. I told her to count me out, much as it pained me. Besides, I've been to Disney through two Spring Breaks so far, and it is just tooooo crowded! :crowded: I don't know if I wanna do that again...:sad2:

I know that the people who do Disney every year will flame me; but, variety is nice. Danny & I usually try to start to think about WDW is every 5 years; we are going back next year because it was sooooo crowded and the rain was horrid. But, we have cruises, Hawaii, Yelowstone and Alaska and we want to go back to Vegas so you figure a trip a year. We have things lined up.... so glad the kids are moving on:cheer2::sad1:
:flower3:

Yes, I agree, variety IS nice! I do love my Disney, but I want to experience other things with my son, as well. Hawaii sounds soooo nice. I'm jealous, LOL! Yellowstone sounds fun, too. One thing I really want to do before I die (uh!) is go to see the redwood trees in CA. They are just so magnificent and beautiful!

And in regard to the cruise, there's only one way to find out if we'll like it or not, and that's to go on one! I told DS4 about the pool they have with the slide and he's totally amped. Now, if I just make it through to next year.

We went to Disney the week after Thanksgiving in 2006, so when you are there next year, it will be the perfect time to go - low crowds, I bet! I was spoiled to the low crowds so when we went back in March, I was like: WHERE DID ALL THESE PEOPLE COME FROM???

OK first things first

I love the surprises pixiedust: --no one can ever surprise me but I would sure love for Danny to try a Disney trip or Hawaii either would be awesome..

I could do Hawaii for sure or anywhere for that matter

your crew certaintly looked to have been a lively and fun group...I love ALL the group shots:dance3:
you were right about the magic...Dayne at 16 kept telling me to give him his share of the money and he would just stay home and spend it on his car. Once there he was like a child again, although no shots w/the characters (we really did not have too many to begin with). And, now he tells me not only does he want to come back w/Danny & I next year he plans on going there for his Sr. trip :rotfl:(only problem he will still be 17 in May--no chaprone, not legal to travel outside of the state w/o a 21yr old chap).

I don't know if I could even let a 21 year old go out on their own. But I am very protective of my flock.

The character meals look to be lots of fun...we scrubbed ours this past May and boy was I sorry--I should of at least taken Ashton, Danny, & I. Esp. since the older ones went to Rainforest w/o us:confused3. We were trying to save money:headache:.

Way fun. Amazingly Austin had a great time

Cruises: we did it once in Dec 2001 we went on the Holiday out of NO at the time--I have a pic of me, my mom, & Gwendolyn w/the same piano;).

That is great. We have something in common

We keep saying we are going on another cruise just always seem to make other plans. Next year was suppose to be Yellowstone and it has become Disney again. One of my girlfriends is planning a trip for Thanksgiving out of
Mobile if I finish Ashton's med bills by than and can swing it Danny & I may try (although I have not left Ashton except for one night so far).

After what you have been through I don't know if I could leave him either.

I know I know--I was young when I had Gwendolyn & Dayne and they were at my mom's as much as w/us. They have traveled all over the country w/my parents and I just do not feel my mom is healthy enough for a toddler this go round. She is only 58 and dad 62 but she has problems that she takes alot of meds and limited mobilty that makes it hard for her to chase a tot. and he just adores them. I also have issues this go round--long story no one wants to hear:scared: And, poor Gwendolyn is really smart but just does not have a clue what a toddler/preschooler is capable of:rotfl:

Maybe that will take the desire for any young girl not to get pregnant

Well, I will sign out at this point--have really enjoyed your TR up to this point keep it coming.:flower3:

Sorry to be so long in returning your post. Would you believe my boss had me working? What is he thinking anyway? I don't if you read elsewhere but I work for a psychiatrist and there is me (office manager) and Christine (secretary, receptionist) so sometimes it gets very hectic. Then around 4 o'clock 2 drug reps came in and brought me a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. So we all had to take a break. It was yummy and it will be my dessert of the day. Lucky me.

So now to the real work.

I do live for my family but I don't let my family live for me. They do have their own lives and need to make their own friends. What would they do after Don and I are gone if they don't have someone else in their life?

When Austin (17) was small he used to spend everyother weekend with me. I was in grandma heaven. Then when he was around 12 (and shaving I might add) he said "grandma, I don't want you to think I don't love you but I have friends and they are important to me and I want to spend time with them too." At that time I bucked up and held back the tears cause I knew he was growing up and said "Aust, you need to enjoy your time with your friends and remember anytime you need me I am here for you." I get off work early on Fridays and there are lots of Friday afternoons I get home and his car is in my drive. It brings me such joy.

I don't think I could do spring break. And besides maybe you need a bit with just your family. Or at least if you go with your dad and mom again be sure your dh can go with you for moral support.

That's why I want so badly to have another child, so that I will have a big family later on! That remains to be seen since DH can't make up his mind!!! I keep telling him I'm not getting any younger, LOL!

How nice it must be to come home and see his car in your driveway! I used to spend a whole lotta time at my grandmother's house because it was just such a fun place to be. It was like the hub of our family. Then she died and a lot of things changed. I miss her! :sad1:

This United States is beautiful and so much to see. I have been coast to coast but there are still so many places I want to go. I could go to the beach every year. I love the ocean. And I love Disney but every year at my age. Don't know. Although if I had a choice of Disney or nothing Disney wins everytime.

I had that kind of grandma too. She passed when Sheri was 3. I miss her still.

Sandi only has Alex and they are ok with it but he is adopted and they couldn't have children so they are thrilled to have him. But I know she says if it could have been different they would have had more when he was small. Now that he is 10 she doesn't want to start again.

My nanny passed when I was six months pregnant. Hardest thing I think I ever went through in my life. She would have loved my baby! I like to think that she held him before I did, though, you know, In Heaven...

My son will soon be five and I keep thinking about how much I want another, but at the same time, we can pretty much just pick up and go now and I tire so easily these days, another baby would definitely be harder! But I so enjoyed the experience of being pregnant.

I am proud for your daughter being able to adopt. What a blessing! It breaks my heart to think of families who want children so badly and are unable to have them, but through adoption, families are created. I think it is wonderful!

I don't think anyone could ever tell he is adopted by looking at him with the rest of the family. By the way Andrew is also my step-grandson. Austin is Sheri's child from a first marriage. She married Mike when she was 26 and Mike was 48. Austin was almost 6 (Mike adopted him when he was 8) and Andrea had just turned 5 and Andrew 3. He had been married for 23 years to the kids mother and she left them when Andrew was 6 months old. Mike raised them and Sheri actually became their mother. Andrea has rediscovered her mother now and is living with her. She is not happy but she is trying to do what her mother wants. (sound familiar). Andrew is very happy staying with Sheri and Mike. He sees his mother (that is what he calls her) about once every 3 months. Austin only has Mike. His birth dad is out of the picture completely. You would never know and most of the kids at school do not have a clue that their family is mixed up. I hope I never give the impression that I love one grandchild more than another. I work very hard at not discriminating anything given or time given is different. I love all of my AAAA babies.

I forgot to add about your wonderfull Nanny. Yes she knew him first. My Dad passed away in 1987. Austin was born in 1991 and I know for a fact he (Dad) touched him before we knew him. He would be so proud. Your Nanny is proud of what you have become as a wife and mother and as an individual.
Keep up the good work.

I would have never known Alex was adopted if you had not told me. He looks just like the rest of you!!! But that is how adoption tends to work. I have several friends who've adopted and they ALWAYS end up looking like their parents! I think its b/c they are in the home they were intended to be (blessings from above).

I tried to live with my mother when I was fourteen - NIGHTMARE!!!! No one can say that I haven't tried. LOL!

And I can't tell a bit in your TR that you have shown any more favor to one grandchild than another. You are most certainly an EXCELLENT grandmother and that shines through plain as day! You even adopted Amanda as a grandchild on here, LOL! I can tell you are a wonderful person and this has been great getting to know you thru here.

Now you've made me cry!!! You're so sweet!

-I got confused for a moment w/all the AAAAA's but I'm back. That is a wonderful family story and ya'll have brought a smile and tears.

-About nanny, yes I believe she knew him first. Short story "sort of like a ghost story"
when Dayne was three my parents were adding on a hot tub/ sun room on to their house. Dayne was with my dad all the time...one day while Dayne was "hammering" he stopped and started talking. My dad called my mom and she laughed and told my dad Dayne must have an angel. Two days pass and the same thing happens but this time Dayne starts telling my dad about tongue and groove wood work--now remember this is a three yr old, I could imagine how this sounded coming out . Dad ask Dayne where did you hear this and Dayne says "pawpaw Bruce" --my dad's father; he had passed away while I was pregnant for Dayne(at the end he did not know many; but, he seemed to know me and was always making over the little boy--I do not know what I was having). The enitre project, when he was there, Dayne was off whispering in the corner to pawpaw Bruce; it was soooo cute. Now, once the project was over so was the conversations and to this day Dayne swears he knows (met) pawpaw Bruce.

That is a beautiful story. I have no doubt that it is true. How special that was for your dad.

See you have tried and you know your limits. It makes you a better person for knowing your limits.

I also adopted Jaycns boys too. If you haven't checked out her TR's they are good. Another mother who loves her children.

Don just informed me I am off work tomorrow and he is taking me to breakfast. He would tell me more tomorrow.

I am sitting here with goosebumps running all up and down my body! When Mitchell was 9 months old he started saying "Nanny" and I was like "WHOA!". So I went to his daycare to see if there was anyone the kids called "Nanny" and sure enough, the sister of my daycare lady was called "Nanny" by all the children. For a minute there, I thought Mitchell was talking about MY Nanny! I still have no doubts that she met him and held him before me.

And that story about Papaw Bruce is just AMAZING! Yes, Dayne absolutely met him! Such a sweet story to share...:cutie:

I'll have to go back in the above posts and find Jaycns. I love meeting new people on here and reading the TR's. I am quite addicted to this site!

I posted something for you on Lisa's TR about your birthday surprise. Boy, I can't wait to find out what's planned for you. I'M SO EXCITED!

I promise I will let you know. I told Lisa I would have my cell phone and post if I can't get to a computer. I hope it is something fun. Sheri said he might take me to Downstream (it a casino on the Okla line about an hour from here) or down to Branson to the outlet to buy me a new Coach purse. I love them. I have 5 and could always use more. Sandi said we were going to Branson to Ride the Ducks. They are no help

Just a few short more hours and you will know! I bet you don't sleep a wink tonight.

Hey, I just found a TR by a teenager who is just absolutely adorable in her writing style! It just started so there's not a whole lot of catching up to do. Cute as a button, she is. Here's the link if anyone is interested...http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2231148 (Ginny, you may have yourself another adopted grandaugher ;))
