Just got a text from Sandi. She wants to know who signed her up for AARP. She has had 20 emails in 2 days. Love it. Wished I had thought of it. She is probably jealous cause Sheri has had an aarp card since she was 28.

Unfortunately, they block facebook at work, so it'll have to wait until this afternoon. I must admit, I haven't been getting much work done lately with DIS on the agenda, but I'm trying to force myself to stay off. It's hard!

Hello to my friends on the dis:

I am home now. Don told me last night that he and I had the day off and we were going to breakfast. So we were supposed to leave around 8. Got ready and was driving to our local spot we always go to and Don says I'm in the mood for blackberry pancakes so we are off to Cracker Barrel. The lady is seating us at a table for 2 and Don says can we sit in the back. I think nothing of it and head to the back. He takes a step sideways and says come here. Sitting at a table is my friend Cindy, her son Matt, along with Mike, Austin, Andrew. Brother Gary and sis in law Sharon. Balloons and the works. Sheri couldn't come cause she couldn't get out of working. I get presents from Cindy gift card to Starbucks, card from her dog Tallulabelle (I dog sat last weekend) to a local movie theater, card from Gary and Sharon with 2 bags of candy with 60 pieces in each. Card from Don with guess what?

A letter from Allegiant air with tickets for 4 to Las Vegas. Leave today at 125 and come home Sunday. What a treat for me. Then he gave me $400.00 to play with.

Is that great. Everyone knew and when we get home I will give full details.

Well, I did have a great birthday surprise. On Thursday evening Don told me that I had Friday off work as did he. We stated we would go to breakfast and decide from there our "plans".

I was to be ready at 8 which is a normal time for us so I thought nothing of it. As we are driving to breakfast (the local place we always go to) and just ready to turn Don states he is in the mood for blackberry pancakes. That means a trip across town to Cracker Barrel. I said that was fine, I didn't care where we ate. We arrive, the lady is seating us and Don says "can we sit in back". Still didn't catch on the sun was shining in the window and I figured he didn't want it in his eyes. She starts to sit us at a table and Don steps around the corner and motions for me to go there.

Lo and behold there was a full table of family and friends.

As you see Sheri is missing. I had been texting her all morning and I knew she had to work. Her Friday mornings are very busy and she is generally home by noon. She had told me she would see me when she gets home.

I had presents from everyone which were nice. Sharon had brought me an "over the hill" gift from a mutual Relay for Life friend and her gift was boxes of candy with 60 pieces in each. Don's gift came last and it was a trip to Vegas leaving at 1:25. It included Don and I and Mike and Sheri. I was thrilled. They had booked this back in March. Very good secret keepers I would say.

When I got home I had an email from Christine (work) stating they knew what was going on and to have a great trip.

The trip is over and it was great. We did have a wonderful short weekend. I am not a big gambler as are any of us but we are big people watchers. Boy did we see people. It was packed.

It was a wonderful week and as everyone says "it's over". So now back to the real world.

Thank you all once again for the birthday wishes. They meant a lot to me.

I can't imagine where they got that sneaky part from. I did hear from several it was hard to keep a secret. Christine at the office said she really struggled a few times. She too of course knew since March cause they had to check the date with her to be sure she wasn't off. I love my friends and family. I feel so blessed.

We did have fun. It wasn't the gambling that was good. It was the getting away and being with 3 of the people I love most in the world. The Baileys and coffee didn't hurt. Plus a few Margaritas. This time last year I had just had my second surgery for thyroid cancer so they really wanted to make it special for me.
