Is june notoriously a rainy month. I'm beginning to regret visiting WDW for the first time from June 12-16. Are we going to be disappointed in the weather? From other pages I have read, it seems to be a rather rainy month and not just passing showers. I'd better check the weather channel. We didn't want to come down when it is too hot. Thank

Let it be :sunny:

Bring extra shoes, buy a Mickey poncho and enjoy your trip. Rain doesn't stop us, unless it is lightning or thundering hard.

June is hot.

There is no telling what the exact weather will be during your stay this June. I can tell you that our last visit to WDW was during late June in 2002 and it rained plenty. The rain did disrupt our vacation somewhat but the beauty of WDW is that there is always something to do even during bad weather. If you are booked you are going to go through with it. In the end you may be a little disappointed as I was but all-in-all you will still be glad you were at the World for a week.

We'll be there from June 13 through 18 and will definitely not let a little (or alot) of rain bother us. Think of it this way, it will definitely be cooler during the day once the shower passes through and the parks will probably have cleared out some. Just find a nice spot to wait it out and it will eventually pass. Have a great time!

I think it is cooler while it is raining, then gets more humid once the rain stops. We have gone in July a couple of times and it rains almost every evening for a little while. (My dad and my brother and his family live in Florida). But there is plenty of time for fun and we just put on our ponchos and have a good time! As a matter of fact, one time it was raining at the time Illuminations was to start, so EPCOT got pretty deserted. We had on our ponchos and had a wonderful view of the show, with no one around us. Almost like a private viewing, if we didn't look around too much, LOL!

The last two times we have been to Disney were both in late June. And one time it drizzled I think on 3 of the days, but the sun was still shining and my fiance just lied down in the middle of sunset blvd along with a few other folks who were dying of the heat to begin with and well enjoyed it. That type of rain was not bad at all!

The other time it was POURING. ANd I mean the type of pouring where you can't see 2 feet in front of your face b/c that is how hard the rain is coming down. I can't remember rain like that EVER in my life and BOY WAS IT FUN!!! We were at Epcot and since we were seeing the World Showcases (mostly outdoors) we decided to go back to our resort for awhile to get some food and spend some time there and then off to Disney Quest. Well we got LOST for an hour (we timed it!) in the parking lot looking for our car! lol Yup, it was so rainy and I have contacts, so basically, my contacts were washing out of my eyes, and my fiance was having trouble seeing what section we were in. We had even scored a really close praking spot. So sometimes the rain there is really hard, sometimes not. The other days when we were there it was gorgeous. And we still had so much fun IN the rain. Just try to use it as something fun as opposed to a damper on the trip! :D

Barb,

June is hot AND wet.:earseek:

Now that's not to say it will rain every day that you are there but during the warm months it rains frequently in the late afternoon. Really big thunderstorms and can come quickly and sometimes leave just as quickly. ::yes::

June is also humid - no matter what. I will tell you this though, in my opinion, July and August are the worst. :sunny:

One other thing I would like to add is that the parks are open later during the summer and the late afternoon/early evening thunderstorms are just that and they don't go on all night usually. :teeth:

I copied this from weatherchannel.com

I hope that doesn't get too messed up and you can still see what it says.

Don't worry though - you will have a great trip no matter what! The rain, alot of times, can cool things off if it's later in the day and run lots of others out of the park. :smooth:

We've gone a few times in July and yes, it does rain, but as others said it usually happens late afternoon/early evening and not for too long. On our first trip, we were prepared for the heat but not the rain. We've since learned to wear sandals (our first day out it rained inches and our sneakers were wet for 4 days), bring cheap disposable ponchos (even if it looks bright and sunny in the morning), and pack a sweatshirt or light jacket (if you get wet from the rain and go into air conditioning - IT'S COLD).
Otherwise, enjoy!

Let's see, I have been in July 3 times and June once--it is hot and yes it does rain :teeth: but it is really luck of the draw. All of those years we had such different weather. I remember one year we didn't have a SINGLE sunny day...it was always overcast....but then the next year it was great weather and only rained once!

Our most recent June trip was in 2002--it rained nearly everyday, but only for a short period. Quite frankly, we don't mind the rain as much--cools things off a bit :)

Rainy season is just beginning in the sunshine state (usually runs from late April to late October). One "plus" about going in June is that you shouldn't encounter the typical "tropical" patterns that become more frequent during the mid summer to mid fall period (July-Oct).

The difference with the TROPICAL weather is that it can linger for days, most of what you'll probably experience in June is scattered showers from the result of passing fronts. As others have said, pack your poncho (and your water bottle and sunscreen!!).

I hate to break it to you though, if you're concerned about the heat, June is the HOTTEST month of the year in FL with the strongest sun!! (even though temps may be a few degrees less than in July and August, the sun is at it's peak in June which makes it feel even hotter) than it already is.:sunny:

Break down and by the Yellow Disney Poncos. We went in June and it rained every day seemed like all day. July might be hotter but we normally just get the 1/2 hour storm in the late afternoon. Can't say I will never go back in June just would rather go Later.

Florida is a state with water on both sides. In the summer, the land heats up during the day. In the afternoon/evening sea breezes come in from both coasts. The cooler moist air and the hot air collide over the middle of the state. Coincidentally, that point is Orlando (sometimes called the lightining capital). So, summer months are prone to thunderstorms and tornados. They can be quite spectacular but they also don't usually last all day or night.

Our only two times going have been in June...6/6-6/13/02 and 6/7-6/17/03....Great way to end the school year....

In 2002, we had a couple of good long-lasting soaking rains--it did not take us long to break down and buy the ponchos!! There were also some brief afternoon storms on other days.

In 2003, there were a few INTENSE storms (my DS still talks about the lightning and running for shelter at MK). They closed BB while we were there due to an incoming storm--but it was one-half hour before it closed anyway so it wasn't a complete loss. Other times, they briefly shut down rides until the storm passed. I don't recall any days where it rained all day or even most of the day.

Returning in 2003, we WERE concerned about the rain again. In all honesty, we had a GREAT time both years and I wish we were going back this June (we decided to try October this year). Disney Quest is an awesome indoor thing to do--my DS's (9, 8, & 4) loved it. We also lucked out that some of our lunch or dinner reserv happened to be during rain.

You'll have fun....definitely bring extra shoes!!
