Here in central Flordia we have had lots and lots of rain this past week. It appears this year will be a very good rainy season. So if you are coming make sure you plan to bring or buy some rain gear. Still lots of fun to be had dont let the rain ruin it for you. Have fun.

Thanks for that post. I'm finishing my packing today, and we leave tomorrow. Does there seem to be any break in sight?

We've had lots of rain in NJ too, but don't you now, the forcast is for warm and sunny this week? ... That's OK, I'll take WDW in a monsoon over any thing else!

No break in sight The jet stream is right over central florida. These have not been light little drizzles. These have been full blown can't-see-the-car-in-front-of-you type.

The weather Channel is showing isolated to scattered thundershowers EVERYDAY through next Saturday. You know how they do theat extended forecast. They aren't really showing anything past next Sunday.

High hunidity and heavy rainfall means we haven't been able to cut our grass in three weeks.

Yuck!

I just heard on the radio we broke a 100 year old record in NJ/NY area. We've had 10 inches of rain this month! Guess that's a "drop in the bucket" (sorry, couldn't resist) next to Florida!

I'm glad I'm staying on site, I get so scared driving in those torrents. I'm sure you see a lot of tourists who feel the same way!

I hate wet sneakers, but I'd be afraid to chance it with sandals in the parks.

OK It may be wet but I'll still take your warm rain for our cold variety here in West of Scotland anyday. Hopefully though you'll be rained out by the time we arrive Tuesday next...

Nothing new for me. Every WDW trip we've taken in the last 13 years has been a rainfest. We've yet to see those "quick afternoon showers" everyone talks about. We always get all-day downpours - but it doesn't stop us. Besides, it's been raining here all of June. It will be nice to see rain in another setting for a change.;)

One good thing about the rain is that it gets a lot of people out of the way. While they are busy huddling under an awning so they won't melt in the rain, you will have your poncho and carry on as though the sun is shining. I really like that part :)

Just rained all night again where I live, about 120 miles north of WDW...

No more than we've had in North NJ. 23 days of rain out of the past 33!:( I think I'm beginning to warp.

Here in MA I think it has been raining since April! They said 45 out of the past 55 days. Before that it was non-stop snow. I STIL saw a water ban sign at the beach too! The thing here is it is 65 and damp-not 80+. Damp and cold is no fun. :p

We are arriving at WDW next Saturday. Can someone from central Florida be a little more specific???

Are we talking all day rain? All afternoon? All night?? Just wanting a few details.

Thanks!!

i've been warning my kids for the last few weeks about the rain to expect while we're in WDW. Since we've had nothing but rain for the last 3 months it won't be that big a deal, and no one will be complaining about getting too wet on Kali River Rapids:D

Raining here in miami also....last year it rained all 4 days I was at WDW! Never in June again.

We have gotten lucky on all of our trips and never had a rainy day. I think it rained one night while we were there. We are going in the end of July and I think our luck is going to run out. Here on Long Island I can't even remember the last time I saw the sun.

I just got back today from a long weekend at WDW. Let's just say it wasn't raining...it was POURING!!!!

There were times it got very windy, too and the rain was coming down sideways.

Ponchos can only do so much. I saw quite a few young children crying they were cold when in the A/C and that their feet were wet.

These past few days weren't just the typical florida showers...

Just got back erlier today and like everyone else has said it rained pretty much every day out of our 6 day trip. It would start around noon like the usual afternoon showers, but it lasted pretty much the rest of the day. The strong winds also didnt help.

Oh well, c'est la vie. I'm sure to see the sun at some time during my 3 weeks in FL:D. I go every July and always see lots of rain.

Can't be any worse than the so-called 'summer' we have here in south west Scotland. I am sure we go from a cold spring to a cold autumn and skip summer altogether.

We bought kagoul type jackets to take instead of ponchos. They are still very thin and compact but not huge, they fit more like a piece of clothing. they go over the head and have a zip from mid torso to the neck, an hood that tightens at the chin and proper sleeves!

Got them in a camping store and they can fit into a very small bag or waist pack.

Yes this has not been the typical Florida summer showers, but pouring and for much of the day. I believe its "suppose" to clear up this week. There has been a weather pattern that has been stuck in the gulf of Mexico. But the weather is still warm, hot for some of you (mid 80's only). Been to WDW many times in the rain, often good times if it helps to lower the crowds - IF you dont mind getting wet. Only place I dont like to go actually is the water parks. The reason is if its lighting, they will close down. Have fun.

I was just reading about the flooding south of Tampa this morning in our paper. Any flooding around Orlando, or is it too "high"? We went in Sept. 2001 and experienced some downpours, but they didn't last 24 hours! I went to Target before our cruise last fall and bought rain jackets, those are great. They're actually rain suits, jacket and pants by Coleman, but we leave the pants at home. I get everyone a size larger than they need for more coverage. They zip up the front, tie at the chin, and have elastic at the sleeve opening. You stay much drier than with ponchos, and they will still fit in a fanny pack. Diana
