Rain, Rain, Rain - Live Report

We are at AKL, having a great time in the rain. We went to MK today and had a great time, despite the rain. I learned that my columbia windbreaker is not waterproof  and that MK has a lot of great indoor attractions with no wait time!! We were planning on going to the AK tomorrow, but with the advice of the concierge have decided to go to Hollywood Studios instead since AK has very little to do in the rain, especially for my two DS ages 3 and 5!

:laundy:

Hopefully we will get some sun sometime this week as it is our first trip and this isnt really what we expected!!

The sun actually came out today.
We went to Typhoon Lagoon at 10. It was chilly then but the sun came out about noon and it was nice for about an hour. It has rained steadily since one.
I can say I will be grateful when it's too hot here because it beats cold rain.

I know what you mean. We were there from 5/11 until 5/19, and the weather got worse as the week went on. It didn't rain all the time at first, but by Sunday it was all downhill. We were still able to do everything, but those ponchos do get to you after a while.

IF YOU ARE STILL IN DISNEY AND YOUR FLYING BACK IN THE RAIN- PLEASE READ!!

We just got home yesterday, and found ALL of our luggage and clothes totally SOAKED with water. We had bought top of the line Samsonite soft side luggage for this trip, and every piece was soaked through. Put all of the stuff you bought, and your clothes into trash bags before you put them in your suitcases.

Thursday morning update -

Well yesterday started with a lot of promise but ended with as much rain as I've ever seen. We headed to AK early. Did a Safari, walked both trails, saw Nemo and then had lunch at Yak and Yeti. The sun actually came out for a while. We then went over to Kidani to check it out again (opinion didn't change). Then the sky's opened up. It rained and rained and rained. We went to the member mixer at BW and got soaked going and coming. We ended the day with dinner at T-Rex, which was actually very good.

Well today's a new day. No rain so far and there is actually some blue in the sky. We're heading to HS shortly. Let's hope today turns out better.

I hope you all get some better weather! I was here for a conference and felt really bad for the people that I saw at POR last night. You are right the rain started up again around 1:30pm and it was still raining at 11pm! Many of the walkways around the Oak Manor building at POR were totally flooded. I have a flight out this morning and it is not raining, but is it overcast. Afraid more rain is expected later today. Glad to be heading home, and I usually don't say that when I am in Orlando!

Have the lakes filled up any? They were looking kinda low on the banks last week. And the stone ball in Tomorrowland? Have they started it back up?

They REALLY need the rain in that part of Florida right now. We tried to go Kayaking near Dade City (about 30 miles west of WDW) last February and the one river we were close to had almost no water at all.

Thursday afternoon update -

Well we've had a pretty nice day today. Not much rain at all. We got over to HS early and did TSM first. Then got a fast pass for TSM for later. This was DW and myself's first TSM ride and it was terrific. Then did TOT, the Animation presentation and our TSM fast pass.

We then took boat to Epcot and had lunch at The Land (had the Asian platter which was delicious). Walked around and took a lot of pictures of F&G (already updated at link below). After that it was the monorail over to MK and we rode Snow White. We're now back at VWL and will be heading out shortly for our ADR at Cape May.

Regarding the lakes - they look mighty full to me.

I need a couple of new ponchos after spending a week with Tropical Storm Fay last August (my family calls that trip our "Every Day Fay" trip). I sure hope there are some left - I need to restock my Owners Locker! :goodvibes

Thursday Night Update -

Well our luck didn't hold out. We had a great dinner at Cape May (ate way too much). We had planned to stay for Illuminations but it started raining. So we headed back to VWL instead. Now we can hear Wishes in the distance. Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be nice. Plan tomorrow is to hit HS early and do TSM again.

We went to DD to see a movie, and just got back. We drove. The car thermometer read 68 degrees, and on the radio they said that since the rains began a few days ago, we've received over 6 inches so far.

We've been to Florida and Disney numerous times, but I've never seen such continuous rain. In the past I've seen heavy showers that might last an hour or so, but then clear up. Not this time.

For now, can't remember the last time I saw the sun.

We've never had more than two full days of rain there. Hope things get better real soon. :)

I feel your pain! We got home yesterday after 3 days of soaking rain!!

We had to change many of our plans, but made the most of it and had fun. My daughter thought that swimming in the rain was the coolest thing, so we spent quite a bit of time at the pool. We were wet any way so what the heck! We never spent more then 2-3 hrs in any park before we couldn't take any more and head back to the room. We were at MK for rope drop on Mon so we had a about an hour and a half of no crowds and no rain.

Enjoy the rest of your trip. I hope the weather breaks for you soon!

Friday 4PM Update -

Well just when you think it can't get any worse, it does. We've had about as heavy a rain as I've ever seen this afternoon. Plus we've had very strong lightening. I actually saw lightening hit a cell phone tower. We did have the sun out early this morning and we were able to do a safari at AK, but that was about it. For once in my life I'm actually ready to leave WDW and that has never happened to me before. This has been a totally miserable trip. We just need to get home, put it past us and start planning for our December trip.

Finally stopped about 30 mins ago at BWV. We're making dinner then off to Epcot for EMH.

My shoes are still soaking wet from when we were at AK earlier.

I feel your pain! Several years ago we were down in early Dec. and were staying at the WL. Christmas decorations were up, everything beautiful, but it rained the entire week and it was a cold rain. We ate dinner one night at the AP and when you looked out the windows it actually looked like there was ice on the trees (;)an illusion, I know)! We had a good time but, like you were anxious to get home. Always nice to have another trip booked to look forward to:)!

Saturday Morning Update -

Well what a difference a few hours makes. After the deluge finished yesterday, we went back over to Epcot. It did not rain the rest of the evening. Watched Illuminations and then did Soarin and Mission Space.

This morning the sun is out and the sky is blue. This is our last day but ME doesn't pick us up until 4:00. So we plan to head over to MK for a while and hopefully the rain will stay away.

Thanks for the report OP. Mine would have been very similiar had I done one. We did find ourselves (myself and DD) spending more time at our meals and enjoying the ambience. Nothing warms you up better than a nice bottle of wine...even with soaking wet feet! On Wednesday, we were at Beauty & the Beast and after Gaston's first song they stopped the show-the stage was getting wet. We were able to return on Thursday and see it before we headed for sunny Ohio!

Im live now at Kidani (I love it here though) and this is how I feel. We started out as good rain sports but there is only so much you can take. We did enjoy a really nice day at the pool for most of the day then headed to Epcot for a good dinner at Le Cellier but the sky opened up about 7:30 last night. ( I was in America...could I be any farther?) lol My son wasn't feeling well so we made it to the BC and took a taxi to Kidani. My daughter stayed and said it didnt seem like they were having Illuminations due to the thunder and she left.

Today we check out of Kidani and move to the Poly for our last night.
