Rain rain go away!!!!!!!!!!

As FL - especially central FL - is the lightning capital and lighting strikes well before the storm/rain arrives - it is better safe than sorry.

People fail to realize and what their phone apps dont/wont tell them, lightning can and will strike up to 10 miles away from the "active" portion of the storm. Look up the term "bolt from the blue". I'd rather take time to let it pass than put myself or my family in danger. The week I was in Ft. Myers Beach last summer, 2 people were killed by lightning in a 4 day period.

I would not trust, speaking as a meteorologist, the apps/data from The Weather Channel or Weather Underground. The majority of the time, they are taking the forecasts from the National Weather Service and repackaging the data, not doing much more to it. The National Weather Service data will also be updated more often, which should help with accuracy. The National Weather Service page servicing Orlando can be found here: http://www.srh.weather.gov/mlb/.

Today is almost worst because it started early (8am) and its a cold constant drizzle. Probably could see a lot at the parks tho, I imagine. Good day for ST, RnRc, TSMM and ToT. I am seeing that this does look like another massive system (like last week) covering the central FL state as a whole. It's a great day to drink coffee and sit with my doggie's tho! Glad we hit Thurs, Fri, Sat for parks in a row.

We did EPCOT earlier today, just returned to our room for a rest break - walking in damp sandals tires my feet out even faster! We got there by 8:20 for RD, the rain started (lightly) by 8:30, and they started letting people in by 8:40 (though I'm not sure if they held people back, because we planned on just doing Spaceship Earth first anyway, no interest in TT or MS and had a Soarin FP for 10-11). They let us on SE by 8:50, by then in was pouring but we donned the ponchos and did the Seas area, had a snack at the Land Pavillion, used the Soarin FP and at the point we watched the posted stand by time on Soarin drop from 70 min to 45! Basically, no crowds anywhere. We hung out in the land Pavillion, rode Living with the Land which we probably never would have had it not been rainy! All in all, we got a lot done in FW and headed back to WS by 11:15, and the rain was done at that point. Yea, had throw ponchos over the chairs behind R&C pub to eat our fish and chips, but there were open tables :). Didn't see any crowds til our way out at 2:00, and even those weren't bad. So yes, definitely a great day to see a lot in the parks!

Its,been great today. We are at animal kingdom. It rained this morning. We got here around 11 and hardly any wait times. Dinosaur : 10 minutes. Ee: fp right in and then single rider kess than 5 minutes. Standby was 15. It has been ivercast and coil and hasn't rained. Its Been great!!

We just returned Saturday after a 14 night stay. The 2nd week of our trip was pretty soggy. We became pretty good at reading the skies and dodging the rain in just a few days. I had the Weather Channel app and found it to be pretty spot on. I had both the rain and lightening alerts turned on along with "follow me." I could watch the radar and tell how close the rain was.

We had ponchos but it was too hot to wear them even when it was raining. It worked best for us to wear a cap with a brim and also take an umbrella. We found the dollar store ponchos to be absolutely worthless.

I hope the weather improves soon!

Today was the only day we had to use our waterpark ticket before we leave on Thursday and it was absolutely beautiful! Sunny, in the 90s but not too humid, wow it was awesome! Yesterday it was a rainy one but we stuck it out at AK and ended up spending the whole day there, it's actually been our favorite day this trip! We did all the shows, and rode Kali/EE/Dinosaur 3 times each (plus everything else once). The rain stopped early afternoon but the crowds were low from early AM rain so don't let the weather drag you down just roll with it. That was our best lesson this trip! :thumbsup2

We will be there soon! I can deal with rain for an hour but not all day.

We just got back on Sunday and it pretty much rained off and on all last week with the sun coming out here and there. But we prepared for it with our ponchos and our cheery attitudes. My biggest issue was what was going to happen to our FP but once our FP times passed without use and the rain stopped, I discovered on my phone app that they reset for "choice of experiences". So we just hopped on to a few rides in the FP lines and enjoyed the rest of the day, wet but happy.

Also, a tip for out of towners. This applies to a BIG WET one, not an afternoon sprinkle, the kind that almost leaves you steamier than you started. When you see real low clouds, and the trees start to blow in circles and the wind blows in like 10 degrees cooler, at first its great, but it means get ready to hunker down. You have just minutes left to complete storm blowout. You might feel a few warning drops, but you don't get many before the bottom drops out completely, at that point, run!

There is no other reason for a very cool breeze to come up all the sudden in summer. And when you see those trees blowing in circles, its definitely coming. Find a place to relax, charge your phone, maybe ABC commissary, maybe that new Innoventions lounge at EP or go hang out at the UK pub or go on Ellen etc.
Last month we saw and felt it coming. We had just finished shopping at Mouse Gear and were sitting outside plotting our next move. When the raindrops started we headed for the Electric Umbrella. We joke now a little about the name because we literally used it as an umbrella but it was perfect. We enjoyed dinner in a place with free refills and a restroom. It was exactly the meal and break we needed while escaping the downpour.
