Leaving on Friday June 20 and I just checked the forecast for Orlando on Weather.com and they are calling for 60% thunderstorms the whole week. Can we ever catch a break. I am tired of the damn rain. Lets just hope the forecast changes. I know it rains around 3pm everyday down there, thats ok, as long as I dont wake up to it or it will be a long week. I am starting to feel very depressed. Is anyone else going next week?

Nope but please don't worry... it always says rain/thunderstorms/overcast/blah, blah, blah!!!! You may get a few minutes of rain each day but that's perfectly normal.

Have a great time!!!

YES!
I know exactly how you feel. We have had nothing but rain for over a month. The forecast shows that starting this weekend it is finally going to stop and be beautiful.
We leave Sat and all I want is sunshine. I don't care how hot it gets! I know that there are usually afternoon showers or thunderstorms and thats okay, but if it rains all day I might go crazy!

Good luck! Hope you have better luck than we did. I'm sure others will post this too. We were there 10 days last summer (the end of June) and it rained every DAY. I don't mean showers, I mean steady rain, 24 hours a day. We are going this time the end of July and are hoping for better. We would've died for a afternoon shower. We did so little during that trip. And we were sick of wearing our yellow pounchos and having wet feet. So if you get a shower or two, or one every day, consider yourself lucky.

Here in upstate NY we finally had 3 days of sunshine in a row!!! That is for the first time since last summer, no joke! Rain is the forecast for today.

mjkwt & all ~ We're headed south next week also. I have been checking weather.com. Rain/thunderstorms everyday! Ahhh!!

How about suggestions for rainy day activities?
Disney Quest? Do they close the water parks if it's raining?

n2mm ~ what did you actually do in all that rain? Can you tour Animal Kingdom in the rain or do the aniamals actually "seek shelter"?

hi all,

i wouldn't worry, we live in florida, and from watching the weather it seems there is a tropical wave south of us, around cuba. that's why they expect the 60 percent chances of rain. they expect it to blow past us by friday or saturday.

in fact, the weather men said that there would be a 60 - 70 percent change of rain the past three days, and only one day we had rain for about three hours in the morning. none yesterday.

so here is some pixie dust thrown to you. hope you have a magical and sunny :sunny: disney vacation. :D

We'll be down there on Monday for a week. I was just mentioning to my DH that we're not used to any heat at all. It was 77 and nice out one of the days last weekend and we were melting! We finally just opened our pool, and its COLD. I could use some nice consistant sunshine! (though not 90 degree temps till we're used to it!)

Wishing everyone a safe trip!
Debbie

My DH talked with one of his friends who live in the pan handle area. He said it is just the normal June weather of pop up showers. You know the kind that blow in and out in the afternoon that are about 45 min. or less. Just don't forget your rain gear. Have a magical trip.

We are leaving Friday too!!:bounce: I know it'll rain at least once a day while we are there . . .hopefully that is about all. We went July 4 - 11 last year and we had showers daily . . .nothing that lasted more than an hour or so . . .

Here in CT it is RAINING AGAIN!! I've called several local stores for those rain ponchos and finally found a store that had them available . . .

So, even though I have said "no more plastic bag family" I think we'll be needing them . . .

Have a GREAT trip!!

We're leaving on Saturday - getting rained on in Disney World is still better than getting rained on in New Jersey! Hope to meet some fellow DISers!:D

Thanks for all the replies. I am slowly getting excited on going. And a special thanks to Dizneykid (Jeanne) for throwing some pixie dust our way. Looking forward to some special memories next week and I am not about to have the rain spoil it.

Just remember, "A rainy day at Disney is still better than a sunny day at work"

To everyone who is going next week, have a great time and I'll see you there.

1000 miles in 16 hours or bust!!!!

We're leaving early Saturday morning. We've always been very lucky with our weather at Disney World, but we've never gone in the summer, so I guess it's time for us to get rained on. Hopefully it won't be too bad since we're in a pop-up camper!

I am flying down tomorrow. I will clear the rain out for ya all! Showers this time of yr in FL are a no brainer. I am sick and tired of all the rain up here, too, and would welcome a change, but like one poster said,

"A rainy day at Disney is better than a day at work!"

I'll be looknig for the lime green ribbons this weekend at OKW!

We're leaving early Saturday morning too!!!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce:

I haven't checked weather via internet, but according to accuweather on our satellite it doesn't call for any rain on Sat. or Sun., so I'll go with their version! It doesn't show anything past that yet,but I'm not gonna worry if it does.

Almost everytime we have been the forcast call for thunderstorms all day, but it almost never happens. Usually just a quick shower, and then it's over.

I'm so excited.......I can't wait!!!!:D :D :D

We are leaving a week from today. We were there two years ago at the same time of year. It rained everyday, but only for a short while - not a big deal - but don't forget your ponchos - they really come in handy.

I am more worried about the heat and humidity. It's been pretty cool here in Michigan and I think it's going to be a big change. I remember two years ago, I swore I would never go again in the summer. Never say "never" LOL.

Have a great time!

Just curious, but what dates did you go last summer in June? We arrived last year on June 29, and from that point on, the weather was the typical afternoon shower. But we had heard there was alot of rain the week before!

We're leaving on Sat. It's been raining here almost every day for the past few weeks, so I'm not phased by the Orlando rain! At least we'll be playing at Mickey's house instead of sitting at home wondering when the northeast will get some warmer temps! Happy traveling, fellow Disney pals!

We were there last june in all the rain, 16th-23rd. They said they had this tropical wave over them that just wouldn't go away!
We expected some rain, but that was ridiculous.
We just got back this week, we were down there the 6th-15. And before we left the accuweather showed rain and thunderstorms all of our stay. (My DH was sure we were going to have last years rains). It rained for and hour or so only 4 days out of our stay. I only had to breakout the ponchos twice and umbrella once. Also after the rain, it seemed to cool things down, it was very HOT & HUMID!!!!

We were also there last June 15-23 and it rained every day, and it seemed like it was all day. Every morning we opened the curtains and hoped for sun but I do not remember ever seeing it. We actually heard apologies from the natives" it never rains like this in June". Oh well we also are planning our trip for the end of July, hoping to see some sun....Poly Concierge hear we come...

I just flew in from MCO an hour ago, and it rained and I mean RAINED every day I was there (Thurs - Sunday) This wasn't the usual afternoon showers, these were all day rains. It was nice for a few hours in the early morning on Saturday, but the rest of the day was a washout. Last night it did clear up enough for us to do a round of mini golf at Fantasia Gardens in the late evening, but the bugs were horrendous!

Lucky for me, the weather didn't take a bite out of my weekend, since I manage to go down about 5 - 6 times a year. We managed to go to DD and see a couple of movies and just kick back and do some good talking and chillin with friends!
