Does any one know how much the WDW rain ponchos cost and if they are any better than the ones at Wal-Mart. I checked out the Wal - Mart ones and they diidn't look to nice. I kinda remember the Disney ones to be yellow with a big Mickey on the back. Is that correct? Thanks. Our trip is Oct 9 -17 hopefully it won't be too rainy, but we need to be prepared.:earsgirl: :earsboy:

The ones at Disney are $6 a piece and imho very nice. Mine has been taken on 4 trips to WDW and various other places and it is still as good as new. I think that they are well worth the price. It rolls up nicely so that it fits very well in my belt pack, along with my other essentials.

The ones that they are selling now are clear. Mine is yellow. They did sell blue ones at one time as well. TMy family's ponchos are clear - they are all generally "umbrella people," but when we had to sit waiting for Fantasmic in the rain, they all broke down and got ponchos. :)

Hope that this helps. :)

I think the disney poncho's are nice, they are thicker than the cheapo's at walmart. I have had mine since i was fairly little, its at least 10 years old probably more like 13 years old:-) It's yellow with the big mickey on the back! we use them alot too not just for disney!!

We go with the cheapy disposable ones. Our Dollar Tree sells 2 rain ponchos for $1.00.

I bring a few for each trip. They pack light and compact (I don't like to refold that kind of stuff). My DD always wears one on the Kali River Ride (she doesn't like to get soaked). Then when we are done we hand it to someone in line (someone always takes it).

Target has the best rain ponchos in their camping section. They are made by Coleman and cost $4.99. They usually come in blue, green or yellow and in both adult and child sizes. I personally think that the quality of the Disney ponchos has gone down hill. My DD is a larger guy and he always ripped the neck of his poncho before the trip was over. The nice thing about the Coleman ponchos is that they have a draw-string neck and can be pulled tighter if need be. They also come with a reusable storage bag. Plus with the different colors, it is easier to find your family in the sea of ponchos.

I guess they could have gone downhill? mine are a lot older, even though I'm not older lol. Mine have nice rubber snaps on the sides. And the head hole is quite large. I like them!

I have a couple left from our last disney trip. I had bought 4 from our last trip but 2 are ripped. I bought a couple @ the dollar store. Actually the ones @ the dollar store are of the same quality but of course don't have MM on them.

adult and child size ones and YES they both have Mickey on them!
Have a disney day:earsgirl: :earsboy:

I will have to go and look at the dollar store. I like the idea of not carrying them all day. I do have one from the 100 year. But i would rather not carry it all day. Thanks for the idea. Plus i have to buy some for DS and DH.

Thank you so much for all the great poncho information! I think I will wait and buy the Disney ones. I know that my little boy will be upset if I buy one that does not have Mickey on it! Thanks!!::MinnieMo

I love the Dollar Store 2 pack set. Yes, they are thin, but for a few dollars, we can throw one out and take a freshly folded one the next day, if need be. I will never ride Kali River Rapids again without a poncho.

Another vote for the 2 for $1 ponchos from the Dollar Tree. I've always bought the clear ones in the past, but lately all I can find is either clear & yellow in a package or clear & orange. I gave in and bought some of the yellow ones. I really don't like to re-fold and carry the Disney ponchos around because they take up so much more room once they've been worn & refolded. We use ours for 1 day and take a big zip-loc baggie to store them in, but at the end of the day if they were worn, we throw them away.

We took cheapo ponchos with us and it rained a bit everyday we were at WDW. They were a pain to keep taking them out, trying to pull them over us, and then pull off, shake out, try to refold, and they never went back into the pouch. I saw some mini-umbrellas at Walmart for $1.00 each and I wonder if that would be a better way to go. None of us liked struggling with the wet ponchos!

DH and I used the disposables on our last trip and they worked great. We bought a bunch of them and just tossed 'em. Does anyone know if they sell that type in child sizes? The only ones I've seen are one size fits all...adults.

We have also done the 2 for $1 at Dollar Tree. We plan on using them if needed and then just throwing them away daily. I dont particularly care to try and fold those suckers back up, especially if they are still damp.

I bought the ones at Disney. For 2 of them, the cost including tax was $12. Just so every one knows, if they rip, bring them back and Disney will replace them for free.

Definitely a vote for the Disney poncho!! :hyper: Both my son's and my DH's ripped (one on day 1, one on day 6) and both were replaced happily with a smile! :teeth: I have them all packed away for our next trip!::yes::
