Anyone know where I can get a rain poncho that folds up very very small (like wallet size or smaller)?
Price is not an issue, although cheaper the better right? TIA!!

You can get them at Dollar Tree, Walmart,Target. All kinds of places. Just remember that they are pretty thin and you might need extras to replace the ripped ones.

I found some pretty heavy ones at Family Dollar last week. They were only $2.50 each. They had them in kids and adult sizes, red, blue, yellow, green, pink, purple and orange.

I just picked up 6 child and 4 adult at wal-mart, in the hunting section, they are in a package, each about the size of a credit card, though a bit thicker...they were 1.47 each...I bought 10 incase it rains more that once, I plan to just toss them in the trash when we're done with them....

Yep, next time I'm buying a number of the compact-folded ponchos. They're murder to fold up again! (Or rather they just bunch up and are 20 times as big as at first! :p )

I got mine at Dollar Tree, $1 for two in a pack. They were super! (Except of course for the not folding back part, in which case for next time I'll do as the person above and toss them after each use. Even I can afford it this way!)

I always buy my ponchos at the Dollar Tree. At 2-for-$1, the price can't be beat! :) They come in three colors: yellow, orange, and clear. They are very thin and light-weight.

To *refold* these, take a ziplock bag..... *Cram* :crowded: the poncho in. Zip it all but about 1 inch. Then start from the bottom and roll the bag up tight. This will squeeze all (OK, not ALL, but a LOT) of the air out and it will be MUCH flatter than just stuffing it in your bag. Seal the bag once you have the air out. Voila, it now takes up very little space again.

Ingenius! And it'll save plastic too princess:

Just another opinion here... I bought 8 rain ponchos 2 for each of us in case of rain at dollar tree before we left home. Low and behold it poured on night at MK. I have been to the parks in drizzel and showers before but this was bad.. really raining. We put on our $1 rain ponchos and off we went ... right to the gift shop to buy the Disney rain ponchos!!! The dollar store ponchos were too thin and the hoods kept blowing off in the wind and they were so thin that they were not comfortable. Then every time I brushed up against something it started to rip. In our opinion disney ponchos were worth every penny! After we bought the ponchos we had an awesome night! We walked onto almost every ride and did Dumbo 3 times in a row without ever getting off the ride! We love our mickey ponchos they made the night great!

They will also replace the Mickey ponchos if they get ripped!!

The only problem we have with the Disney ponchos is that after the rain is over, you still have to carry them around with you. We don't use backpacks...just fanny packs. We each carry two of the ponchos and just throw them away. The only time I ever experienced torrential rain and high wind was one night at Epcot. There I was, standing at the rail waiting for Illuminations to start in my flimsy poncho. DH and I had an entire rail to ourselves in a prime location. It was late and when the downpour started, people left the park in droves! I got soaked, and yes the wind did keep blowing the hood back, but it is one of my favorite memories. Watching the lasers through the rain was awesome! More beautiful than on a clear night! Oh, sorry I got distracted in my thoughts from the original post. :)

I love the disney ponchos and i would recommend carrying a backpack and just make the most of it, i mean, sometimes it get cold and there are a lot of things i carry around so my dtr won't have to leace the park, i just fold it up and put it back in the back pack they are not that heavy, but i do like the idea of buying some and tossing them to, then you don't have to wait for them to dry, has anyone else had problems with the dllar tree ones ripping

Buying the rain ponchos before i went to Disney was one of the best tips i got from this board before i went to Disney in Nov. I was glad i bought them at walmart for less than a buck consicering that i didn't even know if i was going to have to use them. We did use them once Yeah! It rained most of the day off and on so i just threw them in the back pack in a plastic bag. then we would pass them out again when it rained. The only problem was if you have a smaller child then i would recommend buying a child size poncho my daughter hated the plastic being to big. We did cut some of it but ya know what happens to ripped plastic! so if you can find a child size get it. The Disney ones are cute, but i would spend a little before i went just incase it dosn't rain you can always get the Disney ponchos too. have fun! hope the rain holds off! princess:

I bought the Disney rain ponchos in 2002 ... so far they've gone back to the parks twice. I store them (2 adult/2kid)in a big slide lock bag (squeezing the air out) ... it's not a big deal.

I also hate wearing the hood, so I bought a mini-umbrella and haul it around in my "healthy back bag" ... along with the rain ponchos, autograph albums, water bottle, checkbook/wallet and my camera.

But I agree buying and tossing the cheapie ones would be soooo easy ... do they make kids sizes?

Okay....only slightly off topic.....

If you wear a fanny pack, but dont want a back pack, here is what I suggest.

Go to petco (can you read dog-person here) Ask for their Outward Hound items. They have a fanny pack that is much larger than the little ones, but smaller than a backpack. It also comes with 2 water bottles (one says People bottle, one Dog bottle) Theres a elastic that holds bottles (or cups from resort) in place when on rides (be sure lid is sealed on TOT)

I put suntan lotion, room key, 2 Disney ponchos and Mini Mickey guide book in there- sometimes more if going to a water park (flip flops, or water shoes, granola bar, whatever)

Here is a link of a photo- this was the BEST item for us! Pal Mickey clips on too!

Thanks for those links!!! Looks like I'm off to the pet shop!! We have about 3 Mickey ponchos per person in our house. I do buy the cheapie ones at the dollar store also. Yes, they are much easier to carry around. And I do like the elastic on the wrist. But, I tend of feel like a sausage in them. It's hot, muggy and now rainy and I'm sweating up a storm in there. Yuck. I carry both at this point. I'll be checking out those big fanny packs.

My mom and I took the cheapy ponchos with us...because she wanted to go on Kali River Rapids for her first time, and didn't want to be wet all day. And I wore mine, just because I'm a weenie sometimes. We were taking them off on our way up the stairs after the ride...and were about to throw them away, but several people were asking for them! So, we just "recycled" them that way...and hopefully they got passed down a few times before hitting the trash. It was fun!
