Rain, MapQuest, and Tiny Airplanes... OH MY!!! A March 2010 Trip Report

Great update!

I love starbucks and panara bread too... Mmmm, Mmmmm, Mmmmm!! I usually go overboard on the starbucks during vacation but I didn't go once during this trip. :confused3

Sorry about the loud neighbors... I hate when that happens.

When Reya was a baby we shared a hotel room in SanFrancisco with my dad and his girlfriend. The people in the room next door were being pretty loud too.. But they weren't arguing or fighting. Quite the opposite actually, if you know what I mean?!? ;) And we kept hearing their bed bang against the wall.. :rotfl: It was probably one of the most disturbing moments of my life, especially becasue I was with my Dad... We tried drowning out as much sound as we could by turning up the volume on the tv. :happytv:

And this wasn't some cheap, dirty motel... This was a super nice Hyatt that we spent some good money on. Oh well....Reya slept well, that's all that matters I guess.

I had that experience, but thankfully I wasn't with my parents! I was at the Disneyland Hotel with my best friend and HER parents so she was the embarrassed one (we were about 15 or 16)! :rotfl2:

Oh, I forgot to mention in my last update that while we were checking in, one of the ladies behind the counter (not the person checking us in) thought Ashlyn was just the cutest thing and asked if she could give her a button. She handed her one of the "Happily Ever After" buttons. It was so sweet! Ashlyn got a lot of extra attention this trip (you know, besides from us and her Grandpa!), but she usually does. I think she'll eat it up when she's a little older and understands a bit more!

What a great trip report, I cannot wait to read more, we are staying at Pop in 3 1/2 weeks, I am so exited!

that mall sounds wonderful--the mall here at home is mostly empty-
I love the shot where Aslyn is holding her Eeyore princess:
We have never had a towel animal-but are hoping for one this trip as we are celebrating DH's birthday and DS's graduation from high school-did you keep it?
Oh and :woohoo: on Grandpa's safe arrival:cheer2:
ps we also take pictures of our room number

Great update! LOL about your shopping trip. I have no impulse control so I do my shopping online where I can just get what I need and don't window shop. How sad is that? When I go to a store I load up my cart and wander around for awhile until I can bring myself to put it all back. SO pathetic, I know. Good thing our disney store closed, it has saved me lots of money! :lmao:

I'm thinking DS and Ashlyn are going to be opposites on this one. He LOVED Eeyore in person, so we bought him a stuffed animal, and he really couldn't care less about it.

Those pictures of Pop made me so happy! And yes, always take a picture of your room number. Is that weird? Why wouldn't you? :confused3

That's awesome that you got a towel animal already! We've never gotten one, I'm jealous! Did Ashlyn like it? My kids don't like stuffed animals, so I don't know if they would like it or not!

So exciting that Ashlyn met her grandpa! Yay! :lovestruc

Too bad about the loud neighbors, that's really unfortunate. I would be really upset...I probably would have walked down to the front desk to complain in person. And I am not that kind of person, but there's only so much of that you can listen too! I'm glad it was an isolated incident though.

Oh yeah, and I love the button, it's so cute! I was wondering where she got it. DS got lots of stickers on our last trip, everywhere we went, but a button is better!

Can't wait to read more!

Yay! It'll be here before you know it! Have you stayed at Pop before? We've been twice now and have really enjoyed it. I want to stay somewhere else on our next trip just to experience something new, but will always recommend Pop!

We don't have malls here in GTMO. No stores at all except for the NEX and commissary and little mini marts. So any mall I can get to while we're visiting the states is great to me!
Everyone around us had the little towel puppy in their window, but ours was always somewhere different when we came back. I'll talk more about that in our next post, though. We didn't keep it... I'm not sure if you're "supposed" to? :confused3 I totally would have kept it if I knew we could!!! :rotfl: I don't think we had a towel animal during our first stay onsite. They did put Ashlyn's stuffed animals on the beds like they were lounging, though. :cutie:

I have a really hard time not buying something for Ashlyn, Aaron, Ali (our cat), or even for the house. I'm not always big on buying something for myself. So I know how you feel! I could spend a LOT of money very easily!

Ashlyn liked the towel puppy. She kept trying to take its eyes off, though. :upsidedow

Aaron and my dad almost went to the front desk personally since nothing was being done after the few times we called, but they were already in their pj's and didn't want to get dressed to go. :lmao: They almost went but then they started calming down so we just let it go. We would have made a fuss about it right away if it happened the next night. Like you said, at least it was an isolated incident! Could have been worse.

Ashlyn always gets lots of stickers during our trips, too. Last trip in October we got her a birthday button, but this was the first time she was just given a random one. It was a great start to the trip. :goodvibes

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!! I have some Irish beef stew in the crock pot right now, Aaron's going to pick up some ice cream on the way home so we can make green milkshakes for dessert, and I am ready to write another update!

When we woke up for our first full day with my dad, we took our time getting ready. Ashlyn's Granny Georgia had made her a very cute Mickey shirt with her monogram. It went perfect with some polka dot leggings we already had. I think she would have looked ADORABLE wearing that and getting a picture taken with Minnie Mouse, but the lines were just super long to see Minnie and the rest of the Fab 5. But anyway, while we were getting ready, we got a great shot of Ashlyn running up to her Grandpa!

We had decided early on that our first day would be at Epcot.

IMG_3871.jpg

None of us had ever been to Epcot, so it was completely new to us. Well, I take that back. Aaron went before when he was pretty young, but he doesn't remember anything about it. My DMIL did send me a picture of the two of them in front of Spaceship Earth. We tried to replicate the picture with Aaron and Ashlyn, but I had forgotten to bring the original so we were a little off.

We didn't have a plan for Epcot so we just took our time, took a bunch of pictures, and did whatever. I was really excited a couple of months ago when I first realized that we would be there during Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival!

Those are just a few of my favorites.

We walked through Innoventions East (I think it was East!) and just looked around. We also walked on to The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

IMG_3910.jpg

It was pretty cool! Ashlyn seemed to really like it. After the ride and taking our time looking at everything,

IMG_3932.jpg

we headed over to Turtle Talk with Crush. Ashlyn was laughing and clapping the whole time. It was way too cute. The people behind us kept saying how sweet she was. One of the little girls in front asked Crush how turtles kiss. Sooooo sweet. Crush said something like “That's where you guys put your lips together, right? Yeah, we are kinda short in the lip department. We just kinda rub foreheads. Noggin... Duuuuude.”

After Turtle Talk, Ashlyn started telling us she was hungry. Well, she doesn't know how to verbally say she's hungry yet, but she knows the sign for it. We went to get her stroller from the stroller parking and there was a squirrel stealing crackers that were in with the strollers. Like, full bags of crackers! :lmao:

IMG_3911.jpg

Anyway, we went to the Electric Umbrella and got some hamburgers and chicken fingers. Ashlyn ate some french fries and a bite or two of chicken, but that's about it. She doesn't really eat a whole lot at one time.

After we ate it was getting close to Ashlyn's nap time.

IMG_3973.jpg

We bought this kid's travel pillow awhile ago so she could grow into it (they had run out of the pink puppies at one point and I didn't want that to happen again!). We took it with us so her head wouldn't just flop all over the place in the car seat or stroller during naps. Usually we take our bigger stroller that lays all the way back, but we couldn't this trip. We made it work, though! :thumbsup2

I'll post more about our day at Epcot later!

Another great update.

Which day did you go to Epcot? Looks like one of the rainy ones. ;)

I'm glad Ashlyn liked Turtle Talk with Crush! Unfortunately Crush scared the poo out of Reya and DSIL had to take her out of the room because she was crying and screaming so loud. Crush felt really bad about scaring her though. :rolleyes1 I'll explain more about it on my TR!

Ashlyn looks so cute sleeping in her stroller. She's such a cutie pie.

I'm really enjoying your trip report very much! Your DD is so adorable so I'm not surprised she is getting so much attention. :) We have a DD who is 18 months and I don't think he could handle WDW right now. He is a maniac! :rotfl: Girls are different for sure. Our DD went at 2 and she did great. Your little girl seems so sweet and well behaved. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip. It's so great you are getting to see your dad after so long. :)

Thank you! We went to Epcot on the 9th (Tuesday). It was rainy on and off, if I remember correctly, but it wasn't too bad at all. Nothing like Thursday, right? :rotfl: I've been loving your TR and can't wait to hear about Crush!

Thank you so much! Ashlyn is pretty well behaved... at least when she wants to be. ;) She's usually very well behaved in public. I think she's too interested in everything going on to whine! :) It really was great to see my dad and have him meet Ashlyn. He was really excited about Magic Kingdom because he's been to Disneyland many times and was excited to see the differences. :goodvibes

Yeah, tuesday wasn't TOO bad. We went to IOA that day and epcot the next. Wednesday was absolutely beautiful. I think that was the best weather day! :thumbsup2 Was a good day for Epcot.

The
flower show pics are pretty we have never gone during this time --oh well maybe another year
Glad Asyln liked nemo and crush. This ride will be new to us when we go in June.
Love the traveling kids pillow--where did you get it?

I totally agree, Wednesday really was beautiful!

Love your report so far! Looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you! :flower3:

I really enjoyed all the topiaries. I wouldn't mind going again during this time. I still prefer going in September or October, though, like we have been doing because the crowds and weather are pretty good! I got the kids pillow at the Navy Exchange here.

By the time Ashlyn was asleep, World Showcase had been open, so we headed off that way. We really enjoyed it. We looked around a little bit in each place and watched some things like the music in America (don't know the name of the “band,” please help out if you know! It was beautiful... made me cry.)

IMG_4033.jpg

and storytelling in Japan. Aaron also had me pick out a pearl in Japan. So much fun! There was a setting in particular we both really, really liked. It had a chain on the bottom to hold a second pearl, but they said they could cut it off for us if need be. My pearl was 7mm and very pretty. Then we went up to pay for the setting and Aaron decided that I should pick a second pearl! So I ended up getting another 7mm pearl and this one was extra shiny with some pink and green. It is beautiful! Here is my charm.

IMG_4633.jpg

We stopped and tried some wine in Germany.

IMG_3980.jpg

Aaron and I are fans of a good, sweet Reisling and this one was GOOD! We would have bought a bottle if we could take it home easily!

I have to throw in a couple of my favorite pictures!

IMG_4041.jpg

IMG_4080-1.jpg

Our first character meeting (Ashlyn was sleeping when we saw Mulan and the line had just closed when we saw Snow White and Prince Charming) was with Marie!

IMG_4059.jpg

Ashlyn wouldn't walk up to any of the characters we saw, but she didn't act scared with most of them. We also saw Mary Poppins!

IMG_4111.jpg

We had a 6pm reservation at Rainforest Cafe over at DTD, so it was then time to leave Epcot.

IMG_4122.jpg

Aaron really, really wanted to go to Rainforest Cafe this trip. We all really enjoy it, especially Ashlyn, so that was the main thing he wanted to plan (besides another dinner reservation, but that's the next day :) ). We only took video, no pictures, for some reason. Ashlyn loves to color (well, she loves any art project we do, actually) so she does that the whole time waiting for her food and only pauses to check everything out during the rainstorms. She LOVES those rainstorms!!!

When we got back to the hotel after dinner, I noticed Towel Puppy wasn't in our window! Well, he was waiting for us on top of our pillows!

IMG_4130.jpg

I took this as a beginning of a game and decided to put him somewhere different with the Mousekeeping tip the next morning. I'll tell you where in my next update!

Great update! It's nice that you could enjoy WS while Ashlyn took a nap. And your new pearls are gorgeous!!!
