Hi All! It looks like there is rain in the forecast for a couple days next week when we are at Disneyland. Is there a thread somewhere that talks about which rides will traditionally be shut down and which of the parades, WOC, Fantasmic etc will potentially not run in the rain? It looks like our first couple of days will be sunny so we should probably prioritize the those our first couple of days.

Any thing else we should think about in the rain? We are used to dressing for it since we live in Seattle and generally like the rain. :) Although I must admit I was looking forward to 5 days of sunshine....

Thanks! :daisy:

During rain, Alice in Wonderland and the teacups rides and parades do not run. Fireworks may still occur if there is rain and no wind, but significant wind will cause a cancellation of those. Fantasmic can be cancelled by rain. We were waiting for the show once and it had to be cancelled for the safety of the performers because even though the rain had stopped about an hour before, they couldn't get the stage dry enough not to be a slipping hazard. World of Color will generally continue through rain. I haven't paid a lot of attention to what rides at DCA shut down in the rain. I know the rest of my family rode Screamin' in a downpour once, but the ride was shut down soon after. The lightning that had started up was almost certainly more of a factor in that case though. Btw, my family assures me Screamin' is not all that fun to ride in pelting rain since every drop stings like a needle.

We always take dol tree ponchos w us so I can throw them away afterwards i hate dealing w wet rain coats and such...WoC doesnt shut down unless it does if it rains realy hard when we were there last it was a light rain and it continued, im not 100% sure but I think F! also depends on how hard it rains and some stunts may not happen, tea cups dont run in the rain and i dont think dumbo does either and i want to say but im not 100% sure alice doesnt either one time it was raining for our MM and those did not run, some say RSR doesnt run either but some say it does...i think usually outside rides dont run but im not for sure about it....rain keeps a lot of ppl away usually so you would prob have a little smaller crowds :)

One of the best things about DL is that it's a lot harder for rain to have a negative effect that most vacations. So many of the attractions are inside. I remember a trip probably 8 years ago where it rained for the first 2 days. As we were checking into the hotel, I was completely bummed and being a real downer. But once we got into the parks it was fine. I remember one instance where we had to take shelter in the Adventureland Bazaar because there was a mini downpour. But other than that, I don't remember the rain affecting us at all!

We rode Pirates during a little downpour last Thursday and the entire ride smelled like a sewer. They shut the ride down right as we got off, so I'm assuming there was some sort of drainage problem.

I was in the park for a few hours last Friday, and there was a downpour about 8 pm. Looks like a lot of people were caught off guard, and it sounded like the park was charging somewhere in the neighborhood of 10.00 for one of the official Disneyland ponchos.

Cancelled:
Fireworks
Parade (it was also very windy once the rain stopped)

Running:
Fantasmic...! However, I know they will run the mist screens, but will not run the TS Island portion of the show if it is wet.

There was a definite drainage issue the night I went. Custodial was sweeping up water on Main Street and CM's had set up a barricade in a large area in the middle of Frontierland because a large had formed.
Also, I was hoping the rain would help with the wait on Hyperspace Mountain and The Force Awakens version of Star Tours...

*Nope*

Hyperspace Mountain was at 120 Minutes, Star Tours was at 45 and Small World Holiday was around 65 minutes.

Although, I suspect that Indy being down had something to do with this (I overheard some Guest Relations CM's say that it had been down most of the afternoon/evening).

As others have mentioned, rain closures depend to some degree on how much it is raining and for long it has been raining. Pretty much any of the outdoor attractions will shut down if it starts raining hard enough and long enough. I know Alice and the Tea Cups shut down, as well as Dumbo. BTMRR and the Mark Twain/Columbia may also stop, as will the canoes. I would guess other mainly outdoor non-water rides will also stop (e.g., Astro Orbitor, Storybook Canal, Casey Jr, etc.) if it's raining long enough for standing pools of water to form. F! runs a reduced show if it's wet, but might be cancelled if it raining hard enough at show time or if the stage is still wet/slippery. Paint the Night is also usually cancelled if it's raining. Fireworks are more wind dependent, as is WoC.

OP here and yes it did rain on us for much of our trip...

One thing that everyone should be aware of is that the outdoor Fastpass Kiosks get shut down when it is raining. When we were there in the rain, I know that both the Haunted Mansion and the Indiana Jones fast pass machines were covered up and not in use... Didn't think to check out the others we walked past during the worst of the rain.

And the Blue Bayou Fantasmic seat cushions are really great for keeping your backside dry if the seats of any given ride are wet. We walked out of the Blue Bayou into a downpour and used them on the Jungle Cruise, Casey Junior and Big Thunder Mountain that night which saved us from being soaked since all of those rides had seats that were drenched. I will say that we probably had much shorter lines for all of them though.
