Hey All...

I've seen several threads on here mentioning and asking about Raglan Road ("RR"). Some things I've read here have been wrong and some right. I figured I'd just post this as an FYI for all those who may be interested:

Originally RR was suppose to open on 9/16/05. That's not gonna happen. It'll be around 10/1/05, give or take a few days. I'll be one of the bartenders there and our training starts on the 23rd, but the training is for a little over a week (about 10 days). RR is suppose to open immediately after training. They called me last Friday and told me this, so this is from the horse's mouth...or maybe the mouse's mouth.

For all of those who live in the Orlando area and may be looking for a job, RR is looking for servers, kitchen crew, hosts/hostesses, and retail people. The bartenders have all been chosen. So, if you think you might be interested, then give them a call and tell them Don referred you (no joke). Also, they are looking for Irish dancers as well. You'll have to call them for details of that. The band line-up they have for now, but Irish dancers (meaning, Irish jig dancers) they need.

Cheers!
Don

Thanks Don, you don't know how much my DH is looking forward to going when we're at WDW in October! Can you do us a favor - when you start training, if you can find out if they will take advance dining reservations will you post that info here? I have a feeling Raglan Road will be VERY popular!
Thanks! And good luck with the new job!

Thanks Don, that is great news!! I'll be there from 9/30 - 10/11 and was hoping to check it out!! Fingers crossed that I'll be able to stop by once :drinking1 or twice :drinking1 (or even more! :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1).

Cheers!

Would like to try in December :goodvibes :wizard:

Thanks for the update, Don !! I'm really hoping you'll be open by 9/30 - DH will be leaving on 10/2 and I really wanted to take him there !!
Keep us posted right up to the last minute :smooth:

Hey Don Thanks for the updates and best of luck on your new job!!!! Any word as to if Off Kilter will be performing with any regularity there? Belle

Stupid Question: If RR is in PI, is it only open at night? Do you then have to pay to get into PI to go to RR? My husband and I love Irish pubs/restaurants, I bet he would love to check this place out!! OOO, I hope it will be open when we are there (and I can make an ADR before we leave)!

My understanding is that there will not be an admission to Pleasure Island required to enter Raglan Road Belle

Pleasure Island admission is only required to enter the nightclubs. It isn't required to walk around the streets at PI and it won't be required for Raglan Road, which I think is not going to be considered a nightclub, but a restaurant/bar, kind of like Portobello Yacht Club doesn't require PI admission. No idea what its hours will turn out to be.

Im sure that Raglan Road has to be named after the beautiful Irish melody of the same name. I have it on CD sung by Van Morrison. it is beautifully eerie. Maybe it will be sung at the opening! :cool1:

On Raglan Road on an August day I saw her first and knew
That her dark hair would weave a snare that I might one day rue
I saw the danger yet I walked along the enchanted way
And I said, "Let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day"

On Grafton Street in November we tripped lightly along the ledge
Of the deep ravine where can be seen the true worth of passion's pledge
The queen of hearts still making tarts and I not making hay
O I loved too much and by such, by such is happiness thrown away

I gave her gifts of the mind I gave her the secret signs that's known
To the artist who has seen the true gods of sound and stone
And word and tint, I did not stint for I gave her poems to say
With her own name there and her long dark hair like clouds over fields of may

On a quiet street where the old ghosts meet I see her walking now
Away from me so hurriedly my reason must allow
That I had wooed not as I should a creature made of clay
When the angel woos the clay he'd lose his wings at the dawn of day

RR will not be one of the "pleasure island clubs" that you need a ticket for.

Is there a menu? Is it strictly drinks or can we snag some pub grub too? :earsboy:

Oh, we are so going to enjoy this experience, guess we'll have to go to DTD this trip!! (I've been good at avoiding this place!!)

Here's a link I've found, if you do a search on the dis, you'll find a few people have posted pics previously,
