Raglan Road Update

Cool we are there Oct 14th - 28th... good to know there is somewhere we can get a decent drink and some good food if we get homesick... but is that possible in Disney? Well... any excuse for a drink eh! :drinking1

Yes, you CAN tip a bartender, as long as he is tending bar.

Not a problem Don, I HATE College and Professional Football. :teeth: I hate green and orange too, so we will all get along FINE! ;) :wave2:

I was just kind of joking with ya Poohbear. I saw that you live in Miami, so I thought I'd kind of kid around with you. I'll let ya know if I'm working the night/day that you visit once I get my schedule for that week. :)

yes, for sure,, & tell us what name will be on your nametag (Don?).
Plus which bar you will be working.....(or would you move around?) OH & post your schedule!!!!!!!!

you have a lot of fans who would want to send some extra tips your way! (can we tip a bartender?)

( we will try to be there several nights between 11/8 & 11/13)

Yes, I should have a name tag on. It will say "Don" on it, or at least it better.

I'm assuming that we might move around from working one bar to the next, but I'm not sure right now. we're suppose to get our schedules within the next week. I'll let ya'll know.

Can bartenders be tipped? Of course. I don't know of any bartender, server, etc. that would be working in their respective position if they were not tipped. Some of them are pretty hardcore about their tips too.

I don't know when ADRs will be accepted yet. I'd just keep trying the WDW-DINE number until they allow you.

Thanks for all the updates, Don. Looking forward to RR and very excited with the opening date as we'll be there soon after. :flower:

Hey Don, are we still looking at the 10th? I'm so excited being that is the night we were planning on being there anyway.

Have you begun training yet?

Still no ADR's, just tried. I'll keep trying up until we get there.

So, how large is this place? A restuarant and a bar?

now you got me to wondering.
I was at the building when it was the fireworks factory, didn't go in its last incarnation ( jazz isn't my thing)...
but.. did they tear down the old building altogether? the website said the pub was built in iteland & transported here. the *whole* thing couldn't have been built in Ireland.... right? 600 people for dinner is quite a bit more than I think an ireland pub was meant to handle... :rotfl:
so, Don, could you explain how much OF the new building is Irish made?

(one thing about the fireworks factory , which was neat,, there was a one way mirror in the guys bathroom,,,, guys could see the people ON the street outside while at the urinal... :) wish us females could have 'seen' what that looked like........)

Yes, training began over a week ago. It has 4 bars, seats 620 people, and is about 9000 square feet. Because it's a pub, the whole place is a restaurant and bar.

Yes, the aim is still for the 10th.

Yeah, I remember Fireworks Factory very well too. However, someone correct me if I'm wrong because it's been several years, but the Fireworks Factory building is the one that is now Motion, next to the Rock & Roll Beach Club (formerly Zephyr's, still the same theme though). RR will be the building that used to be the Jazz place. I don't know if they tore down the old building and I don't know how much of it is built in Ireland or the US. Most of the innards of RR is made in Ireland, but certainly not the foundation or walls of RR (except for some wood paneling, that's probably made in Ireland).

Fireworks was cool, I hated to see it go. Lots of memories in there.

Don, thanks so much for replying. I hope you are able to enjoy training.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the open day does not get pushed back.
If not, we will see you on opening night!

Slainte right back at ya! I have to wait until 2/11 through 2/18 to try RR, but I can't wait. I always joked that Disney needed two things, one was a good foot massage place and the other was an Irish Pub. One down, one to go! Line me up with a Jamesons, a Harp and some good Irish music, and I'm one happy Irish colleen. See you in February.

I'm leaving in 10 hours and will let you know what I find out, when I get home. I'm hoping to tell you that I was there and it was fun.

As promised, I'm posting more RR info here to some questions that I received. RR will be open 3pm until 2am, 7 days a week. Entertainment is 7 days a week. Typically, the bands that play will start off with low-key folksy Irish music and as the night progresses, it gets wilder and more rockin' in both attitude and music selection.

The name RR is named after a well-known Irish poem written by a well-known Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh in 1946. The title of the poem was "Dark Haired Miriam Ran Away." It has since been known as "Raglan Road" for short. The Irish folk band "The Dubliners" first recorded the poem/song. Then, Luke Kelly recorded it. It has also been covered by such bands as U2, Van Morrison, and Sinead O' Connor. It has become a seminal song for the Irish.

Miss Jasmine and Perdidobay have wondered what the beer line-up will be and if they have Smithwick's. Here's the draught line-up...........

Harp
Guinness
Murphy's Irish Red
Smithwicks
Bass Ale
Boddingtons Cream Ale
Stella Artois
Fosters
Heineken
Magners Irish Cider
Widmer Hefeweizen

Several more are offered by the bottle. Notice there are no American beers on draught (thank the Lord). A great selection of Irish whiskey and scotch will be available, as well as 4 full bars. There will be 6 speciality drinks. And the following are the varietal wines that RR will have: Merlot, Shiraz, Cab., Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Sav. Blanc (three reds and three whites).
I just got back to this thread! What great news. Woo Hoo!!!! Thanks Don!

Just visited DTD and went past RR and said the sign stated: "Opening Soon!" No date on the sign, so I told her it might be on the 12th and she said she would go back over there next week to see. (she lives in Ormond beach). ;)

I was at DTD about an hour ago. There are still workman working on the outside of the building. The door to the gift shop area was standing open with workmen going in and out. Not open yet.
