After a fun day hanging out at the SSR pool – and a pizza dinner from Unos – we decided to head to Raglan Road on Tuesday, March 21 for a bit of dessert and some entertainment. We decided to drive since I wasn’t sure how long DS would last after a full day of swimming. My skills at finding a parking space during the busy Christmas season came in handy. Boy, Downtown Disney was hopping that night! We arrived at Raglan around 8:30 pm, and put our name in for a table (quoted 30 min wait). We hung out at some bar seats with a view of the stage (along a lip of a table) and luckily we got a table directly below us when our table was ready. We had a great view of the band and the stage where the step dancer performs.

The staff was great at Raglan Road – didn’t make us feel uncomfortable at all about just ordering dessert. And WOW! The desserts here are incredible. DS chose the Dunbrody Kiss. It was a mound of thin layers of moist chocolate cake layered with smooth chocolate mouse covered with a thin layer of hard chocolate with fresh raspberries and a chocolate sauce on the plate. Very smooth, melt-in-your mouth delicious. I chose the Bread and Butter Pudding – which came out on a long plate with a cup of bread pudding (with raisins), a small pitcher of warm vanilla sauce, and a pitcher of warm butterscotch sauce. Very very rich, warm and yummy. I thought DS’s dessert was better tho – since I love raspberries and chocolate.

Besides the desserts, the band was very good (and very loud – you may want to bring some ear plugs if that would bother you). The lovely Danielle was the step dancer of the evening – she was very good and the whole place exuded such energy. This place is a fabulous addition to DD. We really enjoyed the music and dancing.

Unfortunately for me, DS faded early and I took him back to SSR. DH stayed behind and really enjoyed listening to the band play 3 sets – and some adult beverages from the bar – and then caught a bus back later - one of the perks of being onsite. We all enjoyed Raglan Road and look forward to returning on our next visit.

Thanks for the review. Are the food prices reasonable? Are the kids meal choices like the "usual"? My DD7 is pretty picky. :)

Thanks for posting this review. Dh and I are planning on giving Raglan a try in October because their menu sounds fabulous and it's close to SSR where we'll be staying for a few nights. I was really pleased to read your comments about the music - that's something very few people mention when they review this restaurant (I guess because it starts a bit late in the evening and by the time it does they've probably had to pack it in for the night). Anyway sounds like a great place to try - thanks again for sharing your experience!

PS - That bread pudding sounds divine - I can't wait to try some!! :teeth:

Thanks for the review. Glad to hear you had such a great evening. :)

Thanks for that review! We can't wait to try it in May!

You're welcome! There's a big three day Irish Festival near our house with world class Irish performers. Raglan Road was just the touch to carry us over to this summer festival. We really enjoyed the interaction between the wait staff and the band & dancer. Be warned tho - if you are near the stage, it is very loud.

I love guinness and irish fare so this sounds phenominal...we are so excited...Guinness and disney all in one what could be better!?!?!?!?!?!?!

 :rotfl2: :clown:

I'm trying to find out what time the entertainment typically starts and is it every night? Anyone know where I can find out this info???

Thanks!

When I called disney dining, I was told the entertainment begins around 9:30.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for sharing.

When we made our reservations we were told the entertainment started at 9:00, so we made our reservations for 8:15. I wonder which CM actually knew what they were talking about and which one was right? I guess I will have to call back.

When we were there in January, the entertainment started at 9 p.m. We had so much fun. DH got so caught up in the music. It was a side of him that DD did not know existed :rotfl2:

The good was excellent. Our favorites were the loin of bacon and bread pudding. The loin of bacon is not like the bacon we have in this country. I have heard it compared to canadian bacon but it is nothing like the canadian bacon sold in the U.S. We live close to the Canadian border and it much like "pea bacon" which is cured pork loin. Great stuff!!!!
