Raglan Road-Love it or Hate it???

We loved the entertainment! None of us thought our dinner was real good. We did like our dessert part of the meal .Our service was not that great either. It has a cool atmosphere but not our favorite place to dine.

We hope you have a wonderful trip!

As for the entertainment, if you live in a city with a lot of Irish bars (Boston, NY, Chicago) and Quality Irish Music you probably won't be thrilled here.
I go to several trad sessions on a regular basis so for me the music was awful.

It was the cheesy Americanized version of an Irish pub we see far too often.
I expected a lot more after talking with the chef at the last food and wine festival.

I was not at all happy with the music and they take a break every 20 minutes.
I guess they don’t want people hanging around, drinking and having a good time.
I understand they need to move the tables quickly.

The whole thing with the dancer on the table and old men leering at her reminded me of a strip bar.

Even the bartender agreed and told me where to go for a good Irish bar.
I did not take down the info since I was not driving.

Don't like it at all.

Mini pint glasses and over priced Guinness.

All the fried stuff we got smelled like fish.

Never again, I 'd rather have Guinness from a can in a paper cup in the room then go back.

Double Negatives equals a positive! ;) Seriously, the problem is it's not an Irish Pub is it? It's a Disney type restaurant (not owned by Disney) and that's about it. An Irish Pub is about the brew, music and camaraderie, not the food. Way to large to be an Irish Pub. We still enjoy sitting at the bar, listening to the music and watching the dancers ...

We tried it last trip and were very disappointed. The food was just ok and the service was poor. We were seated in a corner and couldn't hear or see anything. It was by far the worst meal we have ever had a Disney. We won't be going back. Maybe it was just the night but for that kind of money not worth another try.

Sorry I guess I don't know anything about Irish pubs having lived in Dublin and Ennis for many years.

I did not learn anything about Irish pubs sitting in the dark at the local after closing time (11PM back in those days) with the shutters closed having a few pints with the staff and hoping the guards did not show up (unless they were drinking as well).

Anyway I'm not up for an argument, I'm just saying I don't like the place at all.
It seems like most Disney restaurants it is a 50/50 mix of love it or hate it.

No doubt I expected too much after talking with the Chef who is the name behind the place who assured me it was the real deal.

IMO to go to the trouble to buy a pint glass that is slightly smaller (4 oz) than a proper pint glass and still charge the price of a proper pint is cheesy.
To cook the battered sausages in the same grease as fish is just wrong.

BTW: It is called Raglin Road Irish Pub and Restaurant and there are far larger pubs that have a far better atmosphere all over the world.
The real issue is this is a Disney version and everything that is bad about cookie cutter Irish pubs IMO.

If you like it than great at least I won't be taking up your spot at the bar. ;-)

Hey tony I'm agreeing with you, not arguing with you or doubting your 'authenticity'... I said it isn't a real Irish pub too! Crikey, I've been to pubs in Ireland and England too ... holes in the wall with wonderful people and music.

The original poster wanted to know about the place for food not pub atmosphere. You're right we're all entitled to our opinions.

NP - Sorry - I am just grumpy planning my trip and realizing there is almost no TS places I want to eat at anymore.

Since you pulled my two quotes out I may have got a little annoyed - I have been beaten up one too many times about my opinion of this place over the last year.

I would not have even mentioned the entertainment (or made the second post) if others had not said how good it was.

We first tried Raglan Road 3 years ago and loved it. Tried it again last year and hated it. The menu had changed and the level of service and quality of food had gone way down. The waitress took our orders and vanished until she delivered the food then vanished again; never even asked we wanted a drink. DH had the shepherd's pie (which he had there before) and it now has a tomato base and was not good. I had the chicken pot pie and it was still frozen in the middle. We'll never go back, and yes, we've been to Ireland so we know a bit about Irish pub food.

We last ate there in spring 09 and will never go back. The food was good but the service was so horrendous we almost walked out. Our server spilled an entire tray of water glasses in my lap and then told us the manager would take a coke off our bill. Asked for the manager and he knew nothing of this incident. (so server was lying) Manager wasn't any more help. Just horrible all around.

We love it!!! Did it last year and doing it again next month when we go. Food is amazing and creel the band there is amazing listen to their cd all the time!

I'm going with love it!!!! Great atmosphere, and when I was there everyone in the party thought the food was the best!!!

We have loved Raglan. Last trip my daughter was not feeling well at dinner. The manager kept coming over and asked her if there was anything at all on or off the menu that she could eat other than what she had...she wanted fruit. He brought over the biggest fruit platter ever - free. She was able to eat the fruit and feel better before we left. Best service we have had - every time!

We really enjoyed it. It was just a great meal and experience overall. Loved the band that was playing, the girls that dance on the platform (that just sounds wrong!), the crowd.

If you are looking for quiet and romantic--NOT the place. This place is jumpin' and it's a lot of fun. I had the fish & chips and would get it again. Great drink/beer selection too. I say go for it.

We ate there in January 2010, and really enjoyed it. Hubby and I shared the appetizer for two. It was perfect if not too much food for 2 people. For $26 at Disney, we thought it was a bargain.

We were also seated in big wing back chairs next to the fireplace. The host told us that we had the best seats in the house. They were conspicuously the best seats. However, the seats were nowhere near the live entertainment. That was ok because we were too early for it anyway.

I say go and give it a try. We hope to return soon!

This is the first place we go upon arriving every trip. A great way to start off our vacation. We get a Dalkey Duo appetizer and a beer flight. AWESOME. :thumbsup2

WE love it as well. We have been there at lunch and dinner. My daugher loves their mushroom soup. She had it a couple of times on our last trip. We will be eating there for lunch this trip. We will probably stop in and have a few drinks in the evening to hear the band as well. Can't wait.

We like the food at Raglan. The beer selection like pretty much every Irish pub is very blah...always struggle to find something decent to drink.
