Rae & Veranda Man's 50th celebration2005

Hi all. The 20th August would work better for us (notice how all thoughts of other holidays are rapidly receding). I don't mind Eastern or Western. We have done Western once and are doing it again in October but have already booked for Halloween 2004 on the Eastern.

Emma - Daughter Dear, you always sleep through Physics! If you are really worried about being jet lagged, you could always stay at home and feed the cats (lol).

I'm all for whatever the group says!

I do like Eastern better since you get that extra day at sea, but I like Cozumel very much......so either one!

Karen, don't feel bad about Emma sleeping through Physics - if it is being taught the way it was when I was in HS, she isn't missing a thing!!!!! Ohhh, by the way, I graduated in 1973. During the Dark Ages.

Rae

Either is fine with me, I'm going to Cozumel and Cayman on Carnival in February. I like the extra sea day too. But I want to know how I find out about that Florida rate. Just tell me when to be there, and I'll be there.

Yes, Rae, I too remember that "oh no, it's monday, it must be physics feeling! I wonder whether Emma will be happy with my suggestion that she stays here to be a cat sitter. (He he).

Karen

I haven't checked in here before - tho I've been planning on joining the B-Day bash cruise almost from the start! Either itinerary is fine - just so long as it's after Aug 15.

I somehow missed physics in high school (did I sleep thru the whole year?) - and Rae, I graduated in 1972! So I've got you beat - oh, that's right, I turn 50 this year - you get to wait till 05! SIGH!!!

Karyn

Right now I feel older than my Mother, is that any consolation?!

For whatever reason Michael is sleeping in this morning (it's 9AM) and I'm chomping at the bit to get over to the stables (a half hour drive from our home).........go figure! But I won't wake him up and face the wrath of the sleepy child for anything!

Karen - along with physics, I thought chemistry was a bore! I graduated in the middle of my senior year and went on to college. Sometimes a student needs the challenge and not just to stay awake in a class!!!!!

Interestingly enough, while teaching Michael, I am learning quite a bit myself that I had forgotten. Does anyone remember DIAGRAMING sentences?! WHEW! Now that makes me feel ancient since neither one of my other children were exposed to it when they were in public school!

Live and learn!

That's not strictly true, yesterday I was hallucinating about chocolate cake.

My new timetable gives me Physics last lesson on a Friday and Chemistry first lesson on a Monday, now who can deny that being child abuse?!

Not a chance! If need be, I'll stowaway.

Ok, so I'm weird, but I loved diagraming sentences! I majored in linguistics in college because of it! We did alot of it when I homeschooled DS#2 in middle school.

Yes - scheduling science classes at those times is child abuse! You have every right to sleep thru them! HAHAHAHA! My DD is a senior in HS this year and is thrilled to NOT have math or science.

This is getting so exciting. I like the idea of Eastern and the extra day at sea but I am flexible. I will have done each way at least once by then so it really doesn't matter to me.

Rae- Have you talked to Andy about that other matter we were discussing - have you had any other thoughts on it. PM me.

What other matter was that??? I'm in the dark, which is nothing new, LOL!!!

Andy - no big secret here. Just something we girls were plotting.
Hey, we have to have our mysterious side, ya' know!

Rae

I see tht Andy has posted a tentative date of 8/20/05 for the celebration. I have it on my calendar...what's next?

Thanks Andy for setting a date! Now we can get to the task of planning. I am going to try to get as many of my family members to come. So the ship my be overrun with us ( I have 10 sibling, my dad has 25 grandkids). Less than 2 years...WOOHOO!

Okay, I have the 20th now on my calender. I'm ready for the shrimpfest.

WOW!!! I hope there will be room for us, LOL!!! I was going to wait until our cruise next August and book the 8/05 cruise to get our onboard DVC point savings. I hope there are still cabins available by the time we book!!! We just changed our cash ressie that we booked for next August, to points and cash. By booking onboard we saved 52 points, hoping to do the same next year.

Andy,

How does it work booking points and cash? Do you have to have a certain amount of people to book by cash with the rest on points? We usually have 2 Cat 11 rooms as there are 5 of us - myself, DH, DD and 2xDS. Would we have to pay cash for someone in each room or could we do one room all points?

You mentioned that you saved over 50 points - how did that come about? Is it because you booked on board?

Sorry, Andy, it occurs to me that I have fired lots of questions at you. i didn't mean to treat you like a TA! Hope you don't mind.

I am still plotting (I mean planning!) to do this cruise in 2005 and can't decide whether to book as soon as rates come out or book when we cruise next Halloween. Or indeed whether to just book on points next September. Gosh, now I'm rambling. Time to go!

Karen

With booking with points and cash, "at least" the first person in each cabin must book with points. In our case, we booked my DW and I with points, and our DD and DD's Friend we paid cash.

We booked next August cruise onboard last month with a cash deposit. Since we did, and called DVC within three days after our cruise, we were able to save 52 points (26 for each of DW and I). Once we were in the 11 month window, which was 9-22-03, we then switched our ressie from all cash to points and cash.

I hope this didn't sound too confusing!!! LOL!!!

Thanks Andy. I think I'm being a bit slow here. You booked with cash on board, that I understand. But what did you do when you called DVC within 3 days of returning; did you just puit them on noitce of your booking as you were outside the 11 month window? Sorry, we Tired Moms aren't as bright as we used to be!
