Have never stayed at the Radisson before and are considering it for our cruise next August. Is their transportation to and from the cruise ship organized? I was wondering what it was like after you get off the ship, when you get a shuttle back to the Radisson to get your car, is it very chaotic?

If you're talking about the Radisson at Cape Canaveral, their shuttle to and from the ports is first rate. Very well organized and they will cater to your time schedules. Would highly recommend them.

Just got back from the June 16th Wonder. 10 of us stayed at the Radisson and it was great. Had three rooms for $109 each. The kids loved the pool. Had 10:30 shuttle to the port - right on time. Our three groups left the ship separately and none had to wait more than 5 minutes for the shuttle.
Read some bad things about the Radisson but I forgot a prescription and had to go into Cocoa Beach and it looked so tacky. This hotel was quiet and a great poole and whirlpool. Ate at Grilles the night before cruise - fantastic and very reasonable.
Hard to adjust now that I am home. Have fun,

Connie from NJ

Haven't stayed there yet, but have a reservation for the night before our departure Aug 6th called this morning and scheduled our shuttle time 10:00am When is your cruise?

Our cruise isn't until next August 2006, but we weren't sure if we were going to fly down or drive (cant make jet blue reservations yet) but was a little concerned about the shuttle and crowds, don't want to start the vacation off aggravated! but thanks to everyone here, I'm not worried anymore and will make reservations at the Radisson.

I stayed at the Radisson back in early may before I went on my DCL cruise. The property is pretty and the rooms are nice. The bathrooms are very large and very clean(I have this phobia you see). I called ahead and scheduled their transportation, 10:30 I believe was the time. They were wonderful and the guys loading us up worked tremendously hard, I'm actually surprised hardly anyone tipped them. Maybe it was b/c I was on the shuttle with a bunch of very rude people going to (thank you man upstairs) another cruise line. Just beware that people can be rude and step all over you but you will all get on the shuttle and it is sometimes best just to take a step back.
Have fun.. I wish I could go again soon:).

Another moment of frustration here! ACK!!! I just called to make reservations for the shuttle & the girl who answered the phone said that they don't take them until 2 weeks before the date. ACK!!! That just doesn't go along with what everyone has posted. I read her posts of people who have made reservations longer than 2 weeks out. She finally came back & took my name & the number of people for our date but now I am going to question if we really have the spot. :(

I have to agree with gatrbait. We have stayed at the Radisson two times now and both times we were the only ones onboard I have seen tip the driver. They do work very hard. I can't think of this one young guys name, but he is a wonderful driver. It is like doing a tour excursion. He tells you all about the port and even a few places to eat close by. He was great with my children. He is the guy that has the landyard with pins hanging in his bus. He will pin trade with the children. We got to talk to him and he find out a little about his history. Very nice young man.

The only problems we have ever experienced was on our last cruise. They were short handed and only had one bus going first thing that morning. We had a problem with people jumping in front of us and pushing the children out of the way so they could make the bus. You know it is one thing to push me out of the way, but to push a 9 yo out of the way is very rude. Grant it, it was hot and the hotel had someone call in sick. The hotel had called someone in but it took about an hour for that process to help out. It was all I could do not to knock the guy over the head that pushed my son down. But I remembered that there were lots of children around and I kept my cool. Very hard to do though considering the guy bloodied my DS's knees! Sorry had to rant.

Over all we love the Radisson. I can not see why we would use another hotel since we have always had a nice stay there.

My DH and I satyed at the Rad for our first cruise and Ron Jon's last month. We liked the Rad, but RJ's ALOT more. So...I recommend staying at Ron Jon's over the Rad. I'm pretty sure they have some type of shuttle service; we rented our car with Budget, so we got the shuttle from them! We plan to stay at Ron Jon's again for next year.

Good luck!

Jsme,

You're a better person than me. I knocked a drunk guy unconscious in Wal-Mart because he kept pinching my 18 month old daughter. Sometimes the parental reflexes get you in trouble.

Call back again. I booked our shuttle time for our Thanksgivig cruise. Did this a few weeks ago. I had no problem. Was able to book time for all 8 of us at one time.

I wasn't all that impressed with the shuttle from the Raddisson last November. It certainly wasn't a vacation-breaker by any means but I'll share my story anyway, just as a point of reference.

The Hotel was nice, clean, great rate for a suite ... will stay there again for our next cruise. The problem was with the shuttle ... I made my reservations for the 11:00 probably a month out. We were travelling with another family and when they called they were told that reservations weren't necessary. At check-in the night before the cruise when they mentioned they didn't have reservations for the shuttle, the staff was horrified! Told them to be in the lobby with all their luggage by 9:00 or they wouldn't get a shuttle.

DH, myself and our 2 boys showed up in the lobby at 10:45 and checked in with the gentleman loading the shuttles ... then we waited. And waited, and waited some more. It was Noon before we were put onto a shuttle. For our next cruise, I think we're going to get a rental car and use that to get us to the port before DH returns it to the office.

I have to say a lot of people last October were taking a $20 cab ride back to the Radisson. I guess I was stubborn I just could not see doing this.

HeelMD, it was very hard for me not to club this guy. I think what helped the mama bear from coming out was the fact my son was hurt and he needed me. Have to say I was so mad my hands were shaking and I was close to tears. I read you went to UNC-CH and your family now lives in Charlotte. We are in Winston-Salem. DH and DS are big Carolina fans. DD is a Wake fan. I just like to rock the boat with the three of them and see what they do when I "say" I am going to pull for who ever they are playing against. LOL Otherwise I guess I am a Carolina Fan.

I have found when you are going on a 7 day cruise the hotel and shutte are packed. On a three day cruise it is not as bad.

Is the pool at the Radisson heated? We'll be staying there 2 nights before our cruise in December. Might be a little cool for swimming.

Also, we'll be renting a car at the airport and driving to the Port. Should we return the rental car the night before the cruise and take a shuttle from Budget to the Radisson and then another shuttle from the Radisson to the ship? Or keep the car until the morning of the cruise and then have Budget shuttle us to the ship?

Thanks for your help.

The Radisson is clean but nothing that special. This hotel lives entirely for the cruise industry. We stayed in a first floor room and it was really very noisy. It was in December and many people appeared to have holiday parties there and the music was blaring until midnight. After that we heard lots of children running around and yelling. The walls were like paper.

The shuttle was fine, quick and convenient. There was no one on it except our party of ten and maybe three other people. That's it. We got the 10am shuttle. Breakfast was fine, nothing extraordinary, typical hotel breakfast fare.

It was pretty chilly when we were there and I don't recall the pool being heated.

We ate at Kelsey's pizza next door and it was very good.

poohssmum,

My wife grew up in Winston Salem. Our seven day cruise is for July of 2006. Is the shuttle already packed for next year? We are flying in the same day for that one and taking the Disney transportation to the port.

We are staying at the Radisson in March 2006 for a night before a Royal Caribbean cruise.

HeelMD,
If you have a reservation already with ther Radisson all you have to do is call the hotel and reserve your shuttle time. I really doubt it is full at this time. I just made my reservations for our weekend cruise with Disney that leaves on 9/1 and it was no problem to book my room or shuttle time. I requested te 10:00 am shuttle. Last year I did not make the reservation until we arrived and I was lucky to get a time for 6 people. They only had one am time available all others were after 1:00 pm.

My DH grew up here in W-S. Small world, huh?

We were there in January, and agree with most of the posts. Clean, nothing special. I think the pool was heated, but we spent all our time in the hot tub.

I was amazed that nobody (except me) tipped, and that everybody stood back and let the driver do it all. The van was pulling a trailer for the luggage, so I went inside and organized it for the driver, and unloaded it at the port.

The reason we stayed there was because we drove down, and this was a way to not pay parking at the port ($10/day). We will probably stay here again over spring break, mostly due to the shuttle. I will investigate to see if Ron Jon's has a shuttle.
