We are on th 5/27/06 double dip and wanted to make reservations. We stayed at the Radisson on our first cruise. It was nice and the transport to port went pretty easy...just SOOO crowded!! There will be my DH, DS(10), DD(14) and myself.

What are the pros and cons?

Yippee -- We are also on the double dip cruise on 5/27/06. We already have a reservation at the radisson. Ron Jon is pretty expensive and I don't think they offer transportation to the port. We have a huge thread on the cruise meets board, come on over and join us. My son will be almost 16 and my daughter almost 12 when we sail

Hi,
We have never stayed at the Raddison but are considering it for a future cruise since it is so much cheaper than Ron Jon.

We stayed at Ron Jon last March. This was our experience~

PROS:
1. Access to the ocean - Ron Jon has a free tram that runs to the Atlantic Ocean. Very nice! I know I would miss this easy access if I stayed at Raddison (I do not rent cars on vacation).
2. Pool - great!!! -- especially for kids.
3. Resort is new, very Florida, very pretty, and rooms are nice.
4. You can prepare food in your room.
5. Mini-golf is fun for kids. If you aren't into mini-golf and your room is near it, it is pretty noisy.

CONS:
1. Rates too high
2. No free shuttle to port - you can book Travelinx to arrange that, so it shouldn't be a problem - note: make those Travelinx arrangements before you leave home - they book fast during busy times. I don't recommend you use Arts Shuttle. They stood us up and we were over an hour and a half late getting to the port on busy Easter weekend. It was not a good experience at all.
3. For the money, rooms could be bigger. Bathroom could definetly be smaller.
4. Food! Food service for the most part was VERY slow, even when not crowded. Food was not very good. Not much to choose from on dining room menu. Also, after waiting a very long time for lunch, my burger at the pool area was totally raw.

I could never stay at Ron Jon for more than two nights without access to a car in order to eat elsewhere. Would I go back to Ron Jon? Yes, maybe, but I would check other options first due to the high rates and food situation.

Hope that helps,

Tink

WE stayed at the Radisson twice now before our cruise and LOVE it!!! You need to make your shuttle reservation 2 weeks before you arrive. We have alway's been on the list and have left on time. Never had a problem with the shuttle.

THANKS GUYS! Sounds like I need to stick with Radisson. I can't say anything bad about our first stay. I agree, Ron Jon's is very expensive. I really wondered if it was "worth it". I think I've made my decision....

GREAT! Just booked my room at the Radisson.

Now, just the airline left to take care of!
