Anyone stayed at the Radisson Hotel outside Universal?
If we can't afford the RPH or the HRH next year then this seems like the next best.

Any comments?

I was looking at this hotel in the Virgin brochure a few years ago as it looked to be a nice resort, and I saw it when we were driving to and from Universal - I am not sure if that did it justice as it looked rather near busy roads.

It is certainly close to Universal and the pool sounds very nice indeed!

I hope someone will have stayed there who can be more helpful to you.

Thanks Shirley,

it looks okay in the brochures but will probably be a let-down after the Hard Rock!!

Is it really a short walk from Universal?

Hi

I stayed at this hotel in May. We thought it was very good, large rooms and very clean. Ask for a universal view, as you then get to see accross the 2 parks.

Although its close too universal, its still probably a mile to the entrence of the gates, so walking would probably be out. There was a free shuttle though.

Overall id def stay there again

Stayed there about 5 times now! think its a fantastic hotel. Cheapest place ive found for for booking it is paramount travel at about $69 per night + local tax.
The rooms are typical US, 2 double beds big tv etc. One thing I really like is the ducted airconditioning which when you have it on low speed is hardly noticable. I have never actually had a room on the front so cant really comment if the traffic can be heard but have never had any issues with noise in the rooms I have had and the windows are double glazed (non opening by the way)
As has been said its about a mile walk to Universal (to the entrance to City Walk anyway) from the hotel, personally I dont have a problem with this. There is a shuttle service from the hotel which as it is the first hotel on the route (of 5 hotels) you should never have a problem getting on it day or night. Coming back is a little different and you should make sure your a bit early for the bus if are going to use it.
There is also an Iride stop outside and you can buy the multiday tickets from the ticket desk inside the hotel which is useful. The last couple of times me and my friend have not got a car for the first few days and just picked one up for shopping and getting to the airport. Always booked this before leaving UK by the way as prices quoted there were about £50 per day!
By the way if you like a drink there is a place called the Ale House which is next door and has 30 draft beers! a number of them are $1.25 for a pint, the food is also excellent too.
If you have any further questions let me know and ill try to answer.

Colin
