Has anyone stayed here? They are offering free parking, shuttle to and from port plus hot breakfast for 2. Would the Radison be the best hotel in the area to stay for 1 night? Also, what is the weather like at the end of October?

No, no one has ever stayed there. :goodvibes Sorry, I couldn't resist.

You do NOT have to book the cruise package at the Radisson to get the free parking. When we stayed, the difference was that the cruise package included breakfast for 2, the normal stay did not. You can make a shuttle reservation up to a year ahead by calling the front desk at the hotel. Shuttle starts at 10. Older hotel, nice pool.

Other options--Country Inn and Suites. This is the ONLY 2.5* hotel on Priceline in Cape Canaveral (do not expand to Cocoa Beach!). Typical cost is a $49 bid for a total of just over $60. Includes free breakfast for all guests in the room. The parking is free with a full price reservation; they sometimes charge $20 to leave a car on a Priceline reservation.

Residence Inn--newer than Radisson. I haven't stayed there personally, but it gets good reviews on the boards.

How safe did you feel staying at Country Inn?
We don't need anything but a bed, breakfast, free parking and a free ride to the boat... looking for our cheapest option so long as it's safe. We have stayed in some really REALLY scary places before and we just don't want to do that again, no matter how cheap it is.

CI&S felt totally safe. It's relatively new, very clean. No complaints from me about anything. All 3 of the above are along the same road, all about 10 minutes (or less) from the terminal. I honestly don't think one is more or less safe than the others. Obviously, things can happen anywhere, but many Dis-ers use these three every week without horrible things being reported.

Stayed at Country Inn and Suites this past October for one night before cruise and had no problems. It was a nice place and I would stay here again. Weather was warm and sunny.

How do you get these cheap rates? I looked on their site and they want more money then Raddison did.

If you read my first post, these are Priceline bids. You go to priceline.com, then name your own price. You put in 2.5*, your dates, and Cape Canaveral. DO NOT expand the area beyond Cape Canaveral. Most people have been able to get a $49 bid price (which comes to a total of a bit over $60 with taxes and fees). IF you stick to 2.5* and Cape Canaveral, you will either get the CI&S or a rejected bid. If your bid is rejected, you can try again in a few days or months depending on when your sailing occurs. If you expand beyond Cape Canaveral (as in Cocoa Beach), you can get other 2.5* hotels...but the CI&S is the only one using Priceline in Cape Canaveral.

You can always book a room at the Radisson or the CI&S as a "safety," knowing that you can cancel it if you get the Priceline bid price.

We stayed at the Radisson on the Port last year for a May 2009 cruise. Older hotel, really nice pool. I thought the staff was very nice, too. When my boys heard that we were going to do a May 2011 cruise for their 7th birthday, they already asked..."can we go back to the Radisson, too?" They loved the pool.

I will do the Radisson, again.

I thought Country Inn and suites was the one that had a view of the cruise ship. Is that right? Or is that another place?

We stayed at the Radisson for our cruise in March. The rates were quite reasonable when you take into account the free parking, breakfast, and shuttle to the port.
The breakfast was really good with fresh fruit, omelettes, and waffles made to order, etc.
The shuttle service was very well organized with a staff member out there calling out names and checking everyone off.
Make sure to book the shuttle in advance. We did this, and had no issues. They pick you up right outside the port terminal when you return, again, no issues.
I would definitely stay there again.

We liked Radisson for our pre-cruise in June 2009 stay for 2 days last year. We decided to try Country Inn & Suites for our pre-cruise stay in September 2010- I did get the great priceline $49 price for our stay- I have never used Priceline- and it worked like a charm. Just make sure you use the 2.5 stars and it's the only one in the area with that many stars. :thumbsup2

I just tried the CIS bid on priceline for a September 2 RCCL trip. My $50 bid was rejected. I'm not sure you can get CIS for that $49 price anymore. I was rejected for my April 29 Wonder cruise with a $60 bid. Be sure not to include Cocoa Beach. I made that mistake and was not happy with the hotel i got.

We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in February before our cruise. Got the priceline rate of $49, which was a "Kids Suite" room. These have a separate kids sleeping alcove with twin bunks plus another single twin & television.

Here are some of the things we liked: We liked the sleeping alcove because it was during the Olympics, so we could watch the games on the main TV while the kids watched their shows on the other TV. The room was really big. The staff was super -- really helpful. The breakfast the next morning (although busy) was perfect.

We paid the extra $20 (plus tip) for the park & shuttle package -- well worth it. Very efficient -- shuttle picked us up from the port in less than 5 minutes.

We'll definitely book here again -- just hoping we can get a rate < $100 again.

Hi all, I've already booked the Radisson for the night before our cruise this December. Can anyone tell me how far in advance should I call to arrange a time for the shuttle to the port?TIA:goodvibes

Hi All,
After reading a post on DISboards about the Radisson Shuttle not being available to book until a late time 12:30 PM, I was thinking, this could be a nightmare. The Country Inns and Suites sounded better, but I would be fine with the Radisson, if I could definitely get an early shuttle 9:30 or 10 AM at the latest for an early port check-in. So like Shadowryter, I want to know how many months in advance I would need to book the hotel and shuttle for 4 people for a Magic Feb 5th 2011 departure. I had got the feeling that I might have better luck getting an early shuttle at Country Inns and Suites?

Thanks in advance.
