How can you tell if your pictures are too big or not?

Right click them and click propperties and look at the size of bytes.

Just lower your font size and you will be just fine

I upload it onto photobucket and look at the kb and if it's over 19.5 it's too big for the DIS.

And click on properties at the bottom.
It'll have a number.
Like yours is only 5,461 bytes.
