Racism In Your School

Hey...I was just wondering about your school and how it deals with racism....
I go to a small (500 people) school...and its about half black and half white.
My best friend dates black boys and so does another one of my friends..
I started to like some of them to...Do you think thats wrong to date someone out of your race..and in my town..we dont have any of them "good black boys"
I mean we've got a hood and the projects, and people get arrested everyday for shootin dice or selling drugs. So i was just wondering how your school would react to it if a white girl dated a black boy!! but im gonna keep liking them , i was just wondering what yall think

I don't think race should matter in a relationship. Also, I go to a school where it's about 80% white, and racism isn't really an issue. However, I went to a school last year that was about 80% black, and it was. Lots of created racism there.

Nobody at our school has problems with anyone because of their race. I don't see any reason anyone would care who you are dating or who goes to your school. We are all people, there is nothing different about it except your skin color. Race shouldn't matter in a relationship or friendship.

yeah..but its like all the black girls are getting mad cause were taking "their kind"
and its not our fault that at our school...and the boys want white girls...haha

I live in a multi racial home. I have since I was very small. I don't see race when I look at someone. I don't think about race. But I have been discriminated against many many times, simply for the colour of my skin. I'm white. I've been called a "rich *****" just because I'm white. The sad part, I'm probably poorer than the person who said that to me. I've also been called "hey white girl".

Its not usually black people either. Its mexicans.

I see nothing wrong with liking someone outside of your race, or marrying someone outside of your race, and to be honest, I find someone who does to be uneducated and ignorant.

I live in a very decent area of town. Not the best, but a decent, suburban town.

The school I go to now has only 175 kids, only 42 of those are 7th grader (my grade) so I'll talk about my old school.

My old school had about 1100 kids, 25% black, 25% hispanic, and 50% white. I think that there were more ghetto/gangster white boys than black or spanish. So yeah, out of the two guys I've 'dated' one was multi-racial (white mom black dad, really smart and nice), the other was... puerto rican I think? I dunno.

Race really isn't a big issue for me. We're all equal.

But, if all of the black boys in your school are bad and misbehave, I wouldn't want to date them just because of the fact that they're bad, race doesn't really matter. I wouldn't want to date a bad white boy either.

I think that, in general, our generation doesn't have a big problem. Wait, let me correct, I think that our generation is much better about it than older generations. Obviously there will always be ignorance in some people but I foresee a generation in the future, and not too far off, who sees it as a complete non-issue. Unfortunatly, we're not quite there yet, but we're getting better.

My school is like... 99 percent white people so... I can't quite help you there. I don't see any problem with "dating outside of your race" though.

I dont see a problem at my school with Racism. But i guess that I don't look for it eather. But i dont notice it very much.

Umm if you or anyone really cares then you are a racist. And if you're THAT worried than maybe you shouldn't. Anyway there hasn't been any racism in my school so I dunno how they deal with it. A ton of people date outside of their race here.

I think it is fine to date/marry out of your race. It's all about if you love them.

At my school,they wouldn't care. I have seen a ton of people dating people of other races and everyone just looks and then looks away. It's not a big deal.

interesting honestly i never really liked anyone black other races yes but its not that im racest just the guys at my school are jerks
one of my best friends is black but as amazing as it sounds the reason why i never liked him or them is because this is what they do :

You white trash you talk about black people all the time behind their backs (so not true!)
take saltein crackers from the school cafeteria on soup days and take them back to the classroom line them up as a stack on the desk and smash them saying "CRACKA JUST GOT CRACKED! YO WHITE TRASH IS GOIN DOWN!!"


but anyway it doesnt matter because personally i am colorblind and i someday wish everyone else will be too

in today's scoiet in north america, i'm pretty sure the majority accepts inter-racials dating/marriages.
I haven't any problem with it, in fact I think it's great!!

As fr racism...in my high school, it was VERY multi-cultural. I'd say about 5% Asian/ Hispanic/"other" 25% Black, 30% East Indian, 40% White (i hope that adds up coorectly heheh)
I say multicultural, but that's only because there were alot of different groups. Sadly, people rarely integrated. I mean, you could honestly pick out the sextions of the school where certain races would hang out.
And it's not that they all hated each other, there weren't like constant fights and stuff, I guess they were just comfortable hanging out with their own race.


One thing that sort of annoyed me though, was that we had both a black heritage club, and a south asian heritage club, both of whom held assemblies for black istory month/dawali/kwanza and loads of other stuff for their cultures (let me finish, that's not what bothered me! hahah, i actually liked them!!) But we weren't allowed to put up a christmas tree, weren't allowed to have a christmas assembly, and we were told to start saying 'happy holidays' instead of 'merry christmas'.

It just sortof irritates me that all the other cultures/religions could put on assemblies to share their culture with us lil ol' white people, but we weren't allowed to do the same.

Racism is a HUGE issue in my highschool.

A rough estimate of how diverse it is: 60% white, 30% Indian, 5% Asian, 3% Central and South American, 2% Native and Black.

In our school of 2,000 students we have exactly two black people, and two half-black people. They are all pretty much normal, and I have never heard any of this ''white trash'' stuff coming out of their mouths. It's not like black communities in the USA trash-talk white people for no reason. Where do you think the descrimination came from in the first place?

The real racism issue in my school is between Indo-Canadians (brown people as everyone calls them) and white people. For over six years we have had two gangs in our school that like to call themselves ''The Cowboys'' and ''The Indians''. The Cowboys are generally white people who spit tobacco, loiter at our town's famous annual rodeo every May, and wear cowboy boots. The Indians are brown people who hang out together. There were several gang fights a few years ago, and two years ago, in my first year at highschool, there was a CODE RED at lunch when a fight broke out, and the whole school (teachers included) had to hide under tables in the classroom nearest to us. The Cowboys go looking for a fight by making racial slurs, and usually The Indians take the bait by defending their culture in a physical manner.

On the surface it might not seem like it's there, but a lot of white people in my town are racists. I'm not one of them.
