Racial Prejudice in the US

Well, today when we were loading our groceries into our car, another cart crashed into ours. My mom noticed some Vietnamese people staring at us. She instantly suspected them of pushing the cart at us. (One of the people was stifling their laughter.) She asked them why they did it, they told the most pathetic lie. "We pushed the cart into the corral." And points to an empty one, which they said they pushed in all the way. Of course a cart couldn't have rolled out of that and rolled up a hill to hit me in the leg. So then my mom and another Viet. lady start a fight (cussing). Eventually they get so pissed they drive off (almost hitting two other cars and a stop sign). It took all of my will power to not flick them off.

This seems to be a growing problem in the US. We claim uniqueness is great, but the unique quality of everybody is being destroyed. Why? Because we all have to follow a stupid "standard" and "fit in". This is probably one of our worst problems. We do not need a reminder of what happens when we allow ourselves to believe that being Caucasian is to be the ruler of the world. Now, with the growing number of immigrants, it seems important to stop our prejudice, and live in peace...

xenophobia is an epidemic. and its not just racial. it is anythign that makes you different. sex, race, sexual perferance, wealth, or lack there of.

two days ago I got laughed at by a bunch of mexican skateboarders. I don't know what was so funny about me, but evidently they found something.

But, I'll give it a shot..

I don't think it was because these people were Vietnamese, that they pushed the cart into you. I think it was the nerve of someone rude, no matter what race, sex, etc. People in the Us don't understand the impact they put on any immigrant. I think the Us should welcome any immigrant, no matter what race, sex, or wealth. I also believe that the two people that pushed the cart into you, obviously had nothing better to do, so they decide to "have some fun." If "they" would stop doing things rude like that, no matter WHO does it, then they would gain respect. It is wrong that if some immigrant is being treated wrongly, but they do something rude like that, then they cannot blame the Americans, or whoever they immigrate to for not treating them like first class citizens.

I have to deal with this everyday. I live in Hawaii where I, being caucasion, am the minority. My school is only about 30% caucasion. I dealt with being a 'Stupid Haole' and all that. Now under no circumstances would I ever result in racism after being on the opposite side of it.

But I do agree. What does them having to be viet. have to do with them pushing a cart into you? That there is racism.

If you treat people with respect they will treat you with it back. Living here I have learned alot. You have to be nice to someone for them to be nice back. But fighting with them will result in hate.

I agree that the USA should be open to anyone as it is a 'free' country.Meaning the race shouldnt interfer with how people in thise country are treated. I don't understand this whole hussle-bussle with the illegal immagrant stuff. I mean I know its bad but these people are working jobs that w/o immagrants we couldn't do. We need them, just like they need/want the USA.

I think what Eeyorefan1 and Lil_Tink said was true. They were probably just some rude people looking to tease or harass someone. I dont know what kind of person would just go up to someone that is different (ex. Mexican going up to Japanese) and start harassing them...they need to seriously get a life check!

It's all just about HATE

It really has nothing to do with RACE thats just where they direct their Hate.

If it was just whatever race they would still have HAte and then what would they blame it on.

I find most racist other people of Hate are just flat out unhappy and miserable in their own life so why not make others unhappy as well.

I try to judge people by acton not what they look like.But you only get one chance with me there are too many others that deserve my attention by being decent people.

The reason ppl are upset about Illegal Immigration is because it is not fair to those that actually do the right thing and come in legally.

I am caucasian in a border town, so there I am the minority. Everyone is pretty cool though about it. I don't see any racial fights going on, as far as I can tell.
