rachiegrl6's Journey to an Old/New Me!

Hi

Just wanted to say, I loved my linear algebra classes and in the end I've used what I learned in Linear Algebra more than any other class! What is your major?

Good luck.

Sundie

Hey Sundie - My major is actuarial science. I don't really mind linear algebra, it's just different from what I am used to.

All your comments were right, I got on the scale this morning and was down to 162.5! I've been at it for almost two weeks now and it doesn't even seem like a chore. I can't believe I've already lost 8.5 lbs! It's amazing. Thanks everyone for all of your comments. Haha! I have class in like 20 minutes so I'm off but I'll be back later!

Thanks so much Michelle for the encouragement. Coming on here everyday helps me get through the days and to look for progress as I go along.

Well, today was a pretty busy and hectic day. I had linear algebra this morning and it wasn't too bad but it's still difficult to understand. Then I was off to English 100. I didn't like my first professor so I switched and I like the new woman much better. Then lunch, then back to the room. I worked on Econ and Calc for a long time; from 1:30 until 7:00 and then I had cheerleading. Cheerleading is always an adventure. I felt good tonight so it didn't seem too bad. Plus I get in exercise!!! Then I got back to the room and worked from 9:45 to 10:10 to finish the homework. And I am so exhausted!!!

Like I said earlier, I've been doing really well with my weight! I'm not sure if I've ever told anyone my whole story but I have time now so I will!

I never even thought about my weight for the most part until highschool. I never worried if I was fat or skinny or anything. I believe part of that was because I went to a Catholic School and we had to wear uniforms. So in ninth grade, I started noticing the difference between me and other girls. I wasn't the biggest but I was definately far from being the smallest. In January, my mom and I started the Atkins diet and we began going to aerobics three times a week. I started with a weight of 150 and by the end of the school year I had gotten down to 130. Even then I really didn't think too much of it, I just knew that I could buy new clothes! Then over the summer I gained back about 5 lbs. So the next school year I started low-carb again and I was lifting weights for gym class and going to cheerleading and I went down to 120 by the middle of winter. I was feeling great and looking great.

Then as I got into summer I probably weighed about 125 at most and was just happy. So I met my boyfriend that summer and slowly but surely saw the weight come back. I was eating out all the time with him and I was eating a lot. Because I was comfortable with myself, I didn't watch as much. Then for prom I wasn't too big, about 135, and I wore a size 6 dress. I felt and looked good still. Then over senior year I got on birth control and continued the obsessive overeating. I ballooned up to 150 by the end of the year and ended up in a size 12 dress for prom.

I was very disturbed about my weight and just couldn't seem to get anywhere. Then I started college, and of course my weight went up even more. So when I began my weight loss on the seventh of January I was at 171. Now I am down to 162.5 and feel great. I cannot weight to get down to the 150's. I'm just taking it one day at a time and hoping only good will come out of it.

So a little more about myself, My name is Rachel and I was born and grew up in a small town in western PA. I love cheerleading and have been doing it since 4th grade. I have a brother and sister. My boyfriend is my best friend and I love him to pieces. He even bought me a trip to Disney for Christmas (which, of course, is how I found this site!). I am going to college at a small private school in eastern PA and majoring in Actuarial Science. Lots of Math!

Well that's it for now, Sleep is calling and I just cannot resist. So I will check back in tomorrow morning with my weighin.

Well, got on today and I was still at 162.5, so not the best but at least I'm maintaining. I'd rather do that then gain! So I'm getting ready for class and will post later on! Hope everyone has a wonderful day today!

I can relate to that. I first started putting on weight when DH and I got engaged. Keep up the good work and you'll be down to your goal in no time. You're young and your metabolism will just burn all that away.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower1:

Today is such a great day! Hehe! But I'll start with yesterday! Yesterday, I didn't see any change from my 162.5 and was a little discouraged but I was definately going to try really hard to make the scale go down! So I didn't eat in the cafeteria at all yesterday and just went with the food that was in my room (all low-carb of course)! :jumping2: So I ended up having some cheese slices for lunch and I wasn't very hungry anyways. So I went to the store with a friend to get a prescription filled and bought some low-carb chocolate (very tasty by the way ::MickeyMo ) Well we went to leave and the car would not start! Haha! We thought we were stuck because the battery was just dead! But this nice guy helped us jump the car and we got back to school! Well two of my friends had a birthday this week, so we were having a party! Well they ordered pizza and I ordered Chinese! So I was able to stay on track mostly! The only other thing I had was some of that chocolate I had bought earlier! But that chinese that did not sit well in my stomach and I felt like crap most of the night!

But I got on the scale this morning and told myself that if it was too high that I'd just deal with it and work on it today! Well I got on and well I was down a pound and a half to 161.0! I was like OMG!!! :jumping1: I have made it to 10 lbs! I'm so excited that I've done so well! Hehe! :Pinkbounc

I am down 10 lbs and they will never come back if I have anything to do about it! I can only go down from here! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Well I'm out for now! Got some homework to finish and I'm gonna watch the Disney movie "Hercules". So I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and I will be on later to read journals!

Bye bye!
Rachel :Pinkbounc

Congratulations on your 10 lb. loss! That is awesome!!! Did you add the 10 lb. clippie to your signature??

Have a great day and enjoy Hercules! I have two little girls (ages, 4 and 2) and since we are shut in due to the "blizzard", we'll probably have a Disney movie marathon ourselves. :teeth:

Thanks Tracy for the support! Yeah I just love Disney movies even though I'm almost 20! Hehe! Can you let me know how to add the 10lb clippie, I don't know how to do it! Thanks!

Rachel

10 pounds is a GREAT achievement!!!! It sounds so good and feels so much better!!! :) I ENCOURAGE you to stick with it and by summer you'll be down where you want to be. College is a great place to lose weight...I lost 90 pounds my freshman year and kept it off for 10 years (until babies started coming)...I walked, walked, walked....I didn't have a car so I had to walk to the bank, the grocery, everywhere! I didn't even try to lose the weight it just came off....so if you can ever walk instead of ride....try it! It will make the weight come off soooo fast!

Keep journaling...your success and enthusiasm is such a reward for us all!!!

Tara

Tara, thanks so much for the encouragement! It seems that college was very good to you! haha! Well I do walk everywhere but the college food gets to me too, so I actually gained about 15 lbs when I first got here. So, I'm working on getting back down to my goal weight of 120! I can't wait and now I'm 10 lbs closer to my goal! I'm glad to be such an inspiration and motivator to so many others as they are to me!

Thanks everyone...I'm cheering you on! :cheer2:

Rachel

Congratulations on your loss! 10 lbs..that is great!! :Pinkbounc Keep it up...you'll be celebrating your 20 lb loss in no time!

Gail

Weigh to go Rachel!!!! :cool1: :cheer2: :flower1: You are well on your way to goal!

Sundie

Sundie, Gail, sarahsmom - thanks so much for your words of encouragement, without them I would not be as successful and full of confidence as I am!

Wow, I guess the winter weather got to me last night. I fell asleep around midnight and didn't wake up until 10:00!!! Yikes, that's late even for me. So I finally got up and went over to the scale and well, I'm down another pound to 160! I'm so excited because soon I will never see the 160's again! I'm going into the 150's and never looking back! My body and diet have been so good to me and that makes me happy.

Well we got a ton of snow yesterday. It was covering everything and the maintenance were plowing the sidewalks like 4 times yesterday and the snow would just come and lay down some more. But I got up this morning and its so windy that just all the snow has been drifting in just every direction. Oh well, at least there's still snow out there!

Well I got a ton of things to do today! I am currently eating low-carb yogurt, very tasty. I need to finish homework, do laundry, get a shower, watch the football games, and go to cheerleading practice! Man am I going to be busy today! So I'm off to read some others journals and then to work!

:jumping3: Rachel

Way to go Rachel! I love your goals! They are great!

Hey everyone, just a quick post this morning! I weighed in at 159.5! Yeah I've waited over two weeks for this and it was well worth it! I'm so excited. I can't wait to get through these now and look for those 140's! Well I hope everyone has a fantastic day and I will be back after classes!

Rachel :Pinkbounc

Rachel! WAY TO GO!!!
I haven't been able to check in for several days and you are making HUGE progress! Keep working it, Girl, and you will be in those 140s before you know it!!

BTW, I really like those 2 tickers you have in your siggy. Good idea to have one for a short term goal, and one for the long term goal! ::yes::
