I am trying to see if it would be worth my while to get an annual pass? I am planning at least 2 races and probably one more extended trip in the next year.

It seems like it might be worth my while to get an annual pass (looks like about 13 park days if you include all three trips).

But, I am not sure what sort of discounts we get on tickets being part of a race and I know you can get tickets when you book a room.

I think I will stay onsite for all three trips.

Have any of you guys looked into getting an annual pass? Don't you get room discounts and food discounts? Is it worth it? What considerations would I have to include if many of the trips would be for races that might already have discounted tickets? How much are the discounts for races? (Not registered yet for anything - waiting for ToT to open up for Oct 2009 and will run for charity for the half 2010.)

any thoughts?

Should I just by a 10 day ticket and get no expiration? Then I can do whatever I want with the tickets?

We get AP's every year. We go twice with about 20 days in park. They are easier and cheaper for us. We use discount on food and merchandise at World of Disney. The combo does well. The tickets they offer at ToT are one day one park which don't do us well as we park hop daily. No discounts on races with AP's.

I get an AP.

Room Discounts MAY be a problem. For the current wave of discounts weekends are excluded. (Hey Disney, if this continues ALL of my non DVC stays will be OFF SITE)

You do get some meal discounts, but it's not really a lot.

Now, here's the deal. Some races do have discounted tickets but they generally are LIMITED. Race for the Taste has a good deal IMHO but the tickets could ONLY be used at AK or Epcot (which was fine with me) Last year's TOT came with a ticket, no way to not buy it (which was one reason NOT to go) Not sure if they will try that stunt again or not for more races.

I don't think that Disney had discounts for the Marathon, but if you booked through Anthony Travel you could get a small ticket discount...

Just varies by race as to what Disney will do!

I have an AP because I usually take two trips a year. Well, we usually take one but figure since we already the park tickets paid for... *ahem* So watch out for that :)

As for the room discounts, there was one trip that we took recently. I can't remember if it was in May or October where my TA said that our AAA discount was better than the AP discount offered. Go figure...

If you have an AP, you can also get a Tables in Wonderland card which gets you 20% off at most sit down and some counter service. But you do end up adding on 18% in tips.

Can someone who has registered tell me what the prices are for the multi-day tickets? Not the post-race party tickets, not the one-day ticket, but the multi-day tix available at a discount after you register. I remember they were at a significant discount with the EEChallenge last fall, but can't remember what exactly the prices were.

We also get APs-- I guess it makes me feel less guilty just going to the park for a few hours after a race if I don't have to "waste a day" on a hopper ticket. The price is really close to what you would pay for 14 days in the park and the AP just gives more flexibility and a few added discounts. The tickets with races are often very limited...
