After being RV-less for a number of years (and staying at several other WDW properties) on 2/3 we're finally heading back to FW which has always been our favorite WDW resort. Last time we were there we were disappointed by the amount of noise we could hear from the Petty experience track. Is that still a problem, or was that unusual? Thanks for the info - it's been a long time since my last post!!!!!

I have heard it in the 2000 loop along with the train whistle but it must have something to do with wind direction or something because you don't always hear the noise.

We were in the 700 loop two weeks ago and we heard the noise from the Petty Experience constantly. I was surprised that it was so loud and it seemed like it was running everyday. I don't recall hearing it when we were there in October but don't know what the different would have been.

Disney also rents out the track to NASCAR for tire testing. If the noise was continuous, maybe that is what you heard.
We once met a Nascar tire tester on the plane with us from EWR to MCO.

We have stayed in both 100 and 500 loops, and have never heard this noise. Is it louder in certain sections of FW than in others, if so, which loops are affected.:eeyore:

We were in the 1900 loop in Dec and heard the noise a few mornings. It wasn't anything to loud actually took a while to figure out what it was.

Hello fellow Wisconsinite! I would have to say it is hit and miss as far as the noise goes. We have had experiences both ways. I just look at it as who cares We are at DISNEY!

We were there for 9 days during this past Christmas and heard it only one time, and only from outside our cabin. Didn't bother us at all.

You will probably hear it a lot at that particular time because it is close to Dayton 500 time and quite a few fans stay at Disney. By the way, we will be at FW at the same time, arriving Feb 1st. We've gotten used to the noise and of couse it is only in the daylight hours.

Most of our 6 trips we have stayed in either the 1600 (2 times) and 1900 (4 times). We did notice the PDE big block motor noise more in the 1900 on days when we stayed away from the parks. Also on some days could hear the steam train whistle and even Illuminations from Epcot at night. None of the sounds were overwhelming particularly while in the cozy confines of the motorhome with the AC running that drowned out nearly all outside noise. I would imagine tent campers would hear everything however. All in all I think FtW is quieter than some campgrounds we have visited. One place in New Hampshire, for example, was undergoing renovations so we were awakened each morning to the sounds of heavy equipment, jack hammers, etc. I would rather hear a NASCAR engine than a huge diesel powered excavator anyday.

We just got back from camping in 2100 today. I heard the noise this morning but not Saturday morning.

When we used to have our pop up without ac, i used to really enjoy hearing the steam train at night, the fireworks and the music from the electrical water pageant. Now with our hybrid with the ac, those sounds are gone. I really miss that. Maybe next trip I'll leave the ac off.
