:jumping1: GO! WISH Team GO! :jumping1:

I had a great time running the Penguin in the Park 5K race. We had a group of eight WISHers there which made it all the more fun!

My race report is posted here

Did the 1/2 yesterday here in SE Fla. it was hot & humid. The dreaded blisters hit me again at mile 7, but I pushed on. I even had duct tape on top of Bandaids on my toes. So very frustrating. But I did PR!

Yay for the PR! Way to stay tough and make it happen! :)

I ran a 1/2 at Charlotte Motor Speedway this morning. Managed to set a PR of 1:57:52 despite the last 4 miles being in pouring rain at 41 degrees. Brrrrr!

I ran the Marine Corps 17.75k yesturday 31 degrees and steep hills WOWZA! Very hilly and more trail than I expected (almost 4 miles of gravel trails no way to pass people effectively or I probably could have cut 2 more minutes off my time). The hills were steeper than I trained on but I still made my goal Sub 1:46 for the 11.03 miles. I knew it was hilly, and this was my first long race of the season so the times would be lower than the flat half marathon I'll do in a month. I'm hurting today my joints are not happy about the run but I'm pleased to have held a 9:31 pace for a time of 1:45:13! I'm also officially registered for the Marine Corps Marathon as the finishers received early entry codes!

Congratulations! This is a great time! This is about what I expect for my half marathon in 5 weeks since it's flat. I'm really hoping that starting track work outs rather than speedwork on the treadmill and slightly warmer temps (which could stabilize my joints) will allow for a sub 1:55. I'll be happy with sub 2:00 though :).

WooHoo! Congrats on the PR! Records are falling all over the place for WISHers!

Congrats on the PRs

The Rock n Roll Dallas 1/2 was a challenge for me this year. I strained my hammy 2 weeks ago, and that brought training to a halt. I did a couple test runs earlier in the week, and my hammy didn't hurt, but felt tight, so I decided to give the race a shot.

This morning it was nice and brisk with the temps in the upper 30s, but a nice gusty wind from the north made things a little challenging. The 1st 8 miles are pretty steady up hill (and mostly into the winds) with some dips, and the last 5 are supposedly downhill. For some reason, I have no problem feeling the uphill portions, and the downhill just feel flat! Not fair.

Even with the winds, I ended up with a 1:41:27, which was 50 seconds faster than last year for this race. With the resting of the hammy, I was very happy with the time

Congrats on all the PRs! So exciting!

I was at RnR Dallas as well! I didn't run quite as fast as you- LMAO- but it was a good race. Here's my race reports so far:

IT was challenging for me. Big time. But I loved the race!

I felt bad for y'all yesterday. I could barely open my car door at the gym due to the wind. Congrats to both for making it through the race.

I ran the Penguin in the Park as well! I saw the WISH shirts and was like no that can't be from disboards! My friends I was with thought I was crazy. I haven't posted on here a lot though but I saw the shirts and just thought wow what a small world. I ran this 5k really well, although those hills were NOT my friend, and I was not expecting them haha

Nice reports. I hung out in the convention center until 7:45 before heading out to my corral. I was surprised how many folks stayed out in the cold, and hiding behind buildings to stay out of the wind. I love the course, and even with the seemingly always uphill run, it makes for a nice challenge. Being from Houston, the only hill training I get is on the treadmill.

And that's my mistake- I don't even do it there! We have small hills here that I do sometimes, but the big hills are in Austin. I'm north of the city so I dont train there. And don't do it on TM either. So it hurt!

But overall I loved the course. And that's saying a lot from a hill wimp!

Glad you had a good run! I couldnt believe people were outside hanging around either! Tons of warm buildings to hang out in!

Wow! You definitely should've flagged us down! :)

There are quite a few WISHers who live in IL so whenever there are races, we tend to touch base to see if we can get a 'group' going.
