Ran the St. Pats 10 miler on the Atlantic City Boardwalk today. It was a beautiful morning which was a big surprise for mid march 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. I have no official time yet but it looks like a personal best of around 1:30. Hope everyone had the weather I did.

EPCOTDUDE - WTG on your personal best! Glad the weather cooperated for you! :woohoo:

Epcotdude - Congratulations on your race!

Ran the Run for the Oaks 5K in downtown Raleigh this morning. Absolutely beautiful weather - 60 degrees and sunny with a light breeze. My PR was in this race last year, but I couldn't remember the exact time when I left home this morning and deliberately didn't look so I wouldn't be racing against the Garmin. Had done 2R/1W earlier this week and felt good, so decided to try that this morning. Did the R/W for 2.75 miles, then ran the last .35 and pushed hard at the end. Ran a 34:11 - imagine my surprise when I checked last year's time and found I'd beaten it by 1:04!

The only complaint I had was the water stop - the volunteers were obviously rookies - they had no cups already poured and were pouring them as you held out your hand. I thanked the poor kids, but almost passed them by since I didn't really need the water. Would have shaved a few more seconds off!

Jackie

Epcotdude - Congrats on your race, PR and the great weather especially in March. btw, I think you have my weather from yesterday and I'd like it back please :upsidedow

Jackie - 1:04 off your time - that's fantastic! Way to go!:thumbsup2

I am back from running my half marathon today, specifically the Seabrook Trail(TX) Half Marathon. Here, is a quick report. This was a trail marathon, and it got really warm and humid during the mid-morning hours. Even with all these things working against me, I still had a pretty good day. I ran the first of two laps at race pace, maybe a bit faster than I expected considering that I was on a trail (although it was a good running trail). I ran the second lap at a reduced run/walk pace, by then the temperatures had increased and the humidity was definitely up, my heart rate kept increasing, so I kept adding more walking. I started the second lap with a 5 minute run and 1 minute walk and finished that lap at a 2 minute run and 2 minute walk. I finished at 3:05 on my Garmin,

All in all the race was good and well supported. It was limited to 500 runners. They are also running a full and a half tomorrow as well. I'll be sitting that one out!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: CONGRATS to...

Epcotdude! WTG on a great race in AC! And yes...what awesome weather we had in NJ today!

Jackie!!! WTG girl!!! Sooo impressed with that PR!

Richard: :worship: For a HALF MARATHON TRAIL RUN! Major kudos...WTG!

Richard - way to go finishing that half. I did one 2 weeks ago and had a blast! But, mine ended with Hooters wings and beer :)

Jackie - A PR is always nice to get. the only problem is the next time you need to get another PR :)

Epcotdude - Way to go. This was the day for PR's huh?

I ran the Komen Race for the Cure today. They had 5K timed race followed by a 5K walk. This was my wife's first event - ever. I was so proud of her. She trained ahead of time on the treadmill, all worried that she couldn't keep up. Heck, there was no slowing her down. We had a quite a group of people from work so it was pretty festive affair.

I ran the 5K and finished in 24:04. A PR too by a whopping 25 seconds  YEA! You could tell this wasn't a normal race as so many slower runners started up front. I'm sure they didn't know. Let's just say it was pretty crowded for the first 1/4 mile or so. Anyway after running on the grass for a while I made it around a lot of people and found a clear area. Unfortunately getting around those folks tired me out quite a bit.

But, what a great day. Low 70's although it was bit humid. Great course and great volunteer staff. There were about 6,000 people there today, mostly for the walk. After I finished the 5K I grabbed some water then went to find my wife. They started 15 minutes after the runners. I finally caught up with her - she was booking and walked the remaining way with her. It was nice sharing this time with her as she never really attends any races except at Disney. They are usually too early for her :)

Anyway, it was great day for a great cause. Congrats to everyone that had a successful day today.

enjoy,
Duane

EPCOTDUDE- what a fantastic time and PB! Bet you're eagerly awaiting your official time!

Jackie- another great weather race, hmm the sun must be shining for wishers this weekend. Congratulations on knocking off a cool 1.04mins. Maybe we should set up a water stop volunteer school. Bless them tho, how nice of those guys to help out.

Tiberius- a trail half marathon! In high humidity- i'm so impressed. Brilliant effort.

Duane- another PB and an amazing at that. Sounds like a massive event- 6000 people. Blimey! Really lovely that you managed to catch yout wife for the walk.

Fantastic work wishers!!!!:yay:

Well, I did my first race ever today. Finished the 5k in a whopping 42:45. Walked pretty much the whole thing and surprised a few people who were run/walking when I blew past them in the last half mile because I made up my mind that I wasn't going to finish over 45 minutes. There was a bridge before the finish line so as soon as I could see the bridge I just started kicking as hard as I could until I got to the finish.
