Good luck everyone.

I have a 5 miler on Saturday morning and another on Monday morning. The rest of my long weekend will be spend doing yard work, which is the bane of my existence.

I hope everyone had good weather for their runs. It was pretty warm for the Saturday run but not too bad. The run on Memorial Day, however, was brutal. It was hot and humid and I was already down to half marathon pace before mile 2. It quickly turned into a training run. It wasn't only warm and humid (85 at start time) but there wasn't a cloud in the sky to block any of the sun.

It was still good to get out and get some races in but it wasn't the most pleasant of circumstances.

The weather for my 2 races was awesome. The altitude and mountains.....eh. It was 29 and sunny between Laramie and Cheyenne, Wyoming for the 1/2 marathon. I believe they had a near capacity crowd of 300 running either a 5k, 1/2, full, or double marathon. The race started at 8700 feet, dropped to 8100, climbed back to 8500 at the turnaround. Having to climb 600 feet at altitude in the last 4 miles was a real challenge.

Monday morning in Boulder was around 50 and a much lower elevation of 5200 feet or so. The contrast of 50,000 plus runners versus under 300 the day before was pretty remarkable. I'm getting to the point where I think i actually prefer the smaller races but Boulder 10k was still a great experience.

Its good to be back at sea level in the heat and humidity.
