:jumping1: GO! WISH Team GO! :jumping1:

Good luck everyone but especially with that Ironman Charles. I am still in awe of anyone that can finish one.

I am doing a pump & run 2.5 mile race on Saturday. If all goes well I could run a 0:00 or maybe a negative time. You bench your body weight as many times as you can up to 30 and for each rep you gt 0:30 off your time. I should be able to do the 30 and if I have a good day I could run 2.5 in 15:00. Doing a half last weekend isn't the best prep but we'll see.

Good luck Charles! Richard (tiberius) is doing IMTX too. I hope you guys both finishing strong and get to hear Mike Reilly tell you "You Are An Ironman!"

Good luck to those doing the Ironman! :worship:

I am wussing out and doing an 8-hour ultra instead. ;) (Actually, from my POV - it's a lot easier than even a sprint tri. I swim like a brick.)

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone had good races today - kudos again to the ironman competitors. I ran my timed ultra today - if my math is correct (and it may be fuzzy, it was a warm day), I got in more miles than last year, on a very hilly course. Sure, I only hit the 50k distance, but I'm still fairly happy with it. Now I have no races on the way - haven't decided what I am doing in the fall, and I may not decide for a week or two.

Not looking forward to running tomorow though. ;)

Hi,

I have just returned from the Edinburgh Half marathon ( my second half after doing the WDW in January which I did in 2 hrs 10 ( starting from Corral F).

Today we set off from just past Princes street ran past Holyrood palace and Arthurs seat before running along the coast at Portobello beach going to Musselburgh racecourse, running a couple of miles beyond it then doubling back to the finish and then walking 2 miles for the organised buses back to Edinbrgh city centre

I managed 1 hr 45 which for my second one I was very pleased with . ( the official website quotes that it is one of the fastest courses in the UK ( net fall in height of 40 mins)

I was thinking of the San Francisco half marathon in July but will almost certainly enter the F&W Half at Epcot in October.

Well done to all runners over the weekend!

Regards

TBS

I might write up a more comprehensive race report, but I did hit the 31.5 mile mark. In that 31.5 miles, according to my Garmin, the course had 5575 ft of elevation gain (and a similar amount of loss - for some reason, there is always some slight discrepancy, probably because of the smart recording, instead of every second).

Congratulations everyone especially on that Ironman. I managed to barely win the pump & run. I got 30 reps up but lifted my foot for one and only 29 reps counted. I tried to get a 31st up but couldn't lock out my arms. Then I ran a 14:40.6 for the 2.5 mile course so I ended up with a :10.6. Second place ran a 15:10.0 and got all of his reps up so I won by .4 seconds.

It was the first pump & run I've done and it was a lot of fun. There is a 5K version next month and I'm going to try that one.

Congrats to all who raced!

Ran a half marathon and had my first horrible race. Here's the race recap if you want the whole story...

But basically I was trained well and was going to (try) and break 2 hours in a half marathon for the my first time...well ended up getting sick and close to a dnf. willed myself to the finish and came in at 2:10...but it was not pretty.

Great job on finding the strength inside to finish--remember we're all so much stronger than we think!!

Rich Congrats on your "measly" 31.5 miles ;)

Frank Interesting concept. I think the occasional race with a twist is a pretty neat thing. Sounds like you had fun and congrats on the win. So did you get any swag?

fashionista311 Impressed that you toughed it out. That takes a really strong person.

I did. Two metals (one for the benching and one for winning), a certificate for setting the race record, a $50 Visa gift card and a $50 Fleet Feet gift card. It was only the second year for the event and it was well done. I like the races with a twist, I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the Urbanathlon this year in Chicago.

I have learned way more from my bad runs and races than my good ones. Congratulations on pushing through though, if nothing else it is a mental victory.

Maura - thanks. As I said, I was pleased with the distance. It wasn't my "A" goal, and it was shy of my "B" goal, but I still did better than I feared. And I did not lose too much time to sitting in the chair this time around. Let me tell you - running laps on a trail means that, 6 hours in, if you sit down, it is hard to convince yourself to get back up and get moving.

I got an email from the RD of a fall race earlier today - I need to decided if I am going to run it, and then if I am going to run the 50k or the 50 mile version. It's flat (Chicago lakefront), but there will be wind. It's also late Oct, so it should be much cooler, temp-wise.

fashionista311 - Good job on toughing it out. I can't speak for anyone else, but I always feel a greater sense of accomplishment when I complete a really bad race than when everything goes pretty much ok.
