Race for the Taste 10K...list updated 10/7

I'm doing Couch to 5K in preparation for RftT and am very worried about the pace requirement. (I average just over a 15-minute mile, but right now I still do a lot of walking as part of the program.) I would absolutely LOVE to do Party for the Senses the night before, but I'm worried that my pace will suffer too much the next morning -- especially if I have as much wine as I did last year! I want to Party, but I want even more to finish the race without being swept. Maybe once I'm a more advanced runner and have a better sense of what my race pace will be, I can consider it. What do you think?

I'm a walker and I know I can meet the pace, even after doing a Party for the Senses. Then again, I'm happy with just finishing the Race without being swept. If I was trying to finish in a certain time frame I might be concerned about doing a "party' the night before. My DH loves Party for the Senses and he would not want to go if I didn't, so I'm comfortable with my decision to do the "Party" and then race (finish) the next morning.

I am still thinking... better think fast the price goes up 9/1 LOL!

Anyone going solo and want to do Party? I know Waldo won't be doing this so I will be solo. I have done party solo, but it's better with a group!

Glad to see this thread going again. :goodvibes I think getting up at 4AM after a Party for the Senses could prove interesting! :rotfl2: But I'm gonna do it!

I sent in my application almost 2 weeks ago. The charge hasn't gone through on my cc yet....strange. Anyway, I will be running. We are staying at Boardwalk. This race will be here soon!

I am in!

Booked a room at the Courtyard in Lake Buena Vista, registered before the price increase.....

I signed up for the race last week. Now if it would just cool off a little bit before the race...

Just signed up. It's my first 10K and I'm a little nervous, but I am using a training program I found online. I know I am a slow runner so I won't have a great time, but I will be happy if I can run the entire distance without walking. I'm looking forward to it!

Sorry just had to jump in here (not doing the race for the taste)
What do you mean you won't have a great time??? Any race at Disney World is a GREAT TIME!!! You'll see, it doesn't matter how fast or slow you go. The goal is the start and then finish.:thumbsup2
Plus - the back packer people tend to have alot more fun, it's like a party within a party!!
So, I hope you'll change your mindset and just enjoy the time and all the other WISHers that will be there with you!! You just may a GREAT and FUN time, afterall that is what Disney races are all about!!:yay: :cheer2:

Sorry for the confusion here: I will have a great time, as in, I will enjoy myself - of course, that's why I said I was looking forward to it! I meant, I won't have a great RUNNING time, as in, I won't come in under a certain race time. But I am okay with that, as I said, I will be happy to finish. I will put pressure on myself to do as well as I can, but I am just not very fast, and I know that, and that's okay...is this clear or not? Anyway, I'm glad I signed up and I know it will be a lot of fun!

Sorry also for the confusion, Just wanted to make sure you were going to have a good time while doing the race.

Enjoy!!

Rember that WISH motto.

Dead Last Finish beats Did Not Start!!!!!

I'm pretty sure I will be playing Bike Medic for this one.

Are there any special meets for Wishers?

I'm considering running it. However, I'm not sure I have enough time to run it and still catch my bus(ME) to the airport for a noon flight. I didn't know about the race when we planned the trip.
And getting to and from the race from POFQ is also a concern.

The race starts at 7am. Depending on how fast you run/walk, the back of the pack will cross the finish line by about 8:30-8:45am. ME will probably have you take the 9:30am or 10am bus with a noon flight.

Anyone want to organize?

I think we are staying at Coronado.

I vote you as the organizer!:goodvibes
I think several people are doing Party for the Senses the night before but hat would probably leave several people out of a get together. Anyone have any ideas?
