1. Something you have already worn on a long run (i.e. don't wear anything new).
2. Do not wear cotton--use synthetics--preferably those that are some form of wicking material that "wicks away moisture".
3. Bring 2 outfits---one for warm weather, one for extrem cold (i.e. start temps in the 30s). Lots of questions when you come from a client different than the climate in Florida---just try to make sure the materials are somewhat similar. Unless we have a January heatwave----it won't be any trouble. The problem mentioned in #1 is when someone wheres a brand new outfit they have never tried....the skin isn't used to it--you haven't worked out the kinks in it and you can get some annoying rubbing or some other things going on that you weren't prepared for.
4. Bring peel away clothes to stay warm for the start and in the first little bit of racing. Buy these at Goodwill or any thrift store. Cut slits into coverpants and use duct tape so that you can remove them over your shoe.
5. Do NOT NOT NOT wear new running shoes--you need something you have already worn that still has some race miles left. If you need a new pair, buy them now and wear them now.
