While visiting Disney World in May we noticed a race car track as we were going to one of the attractions. Is this part of Disney
World? If so what is it called? Thanks.

What you saw is the home of the Richard Petty Driving Expierence. You can do ride alongs in real Nascar's or they also have programs where you can even drive the cars. There is additional fee's for these programs.

I dont know if they still do this or not but at one time they had a Indy Car series race there. Maybe Jan?

I don't believe they race there any longer, but had in the past.

You are correct there was for 3 years I believe an IRL (Indy Racing League) race at this track. It was during the early 90's and coincided with the launch of the IRL. That same year Disney was one of the sponsors for the Indianapolis 500 and Mickey was the Grand Marshall for the 500 Festival Parade in Indianapolis on 500 weekend.

Today the track is only used by RPDE (Richard Petty Driving Experience). RPDE also travels around to other tracks in the US doing the same program at those tracks downtimes.

Hope this answers your questions.:D
