R&R is over and part 2 of the deployment has started

Yesterday morning, I sent Matt back out on a plane. I did cry but did do okay and not make too much of a scene at the airport. Luckily I only had to drive him to Nashville(45 mins away) and not back to ATL.

The R&R was wonderful but it was always in the back of my mind that it was temporary. We burned up the interstate in road trips and had some nice romantic nights One night in particular after a nice romantic meal, I walked into the bedroom to find that he had lined up all our fav pics and proceeded to tell me the "Matt and Tina story" but at the end was an empty frame and that was "for the memories to come." Isnt that just so sweet?

Looks like if our prayers are answered, we will leave this post by the end of the year. If not then my Matt will be deployed yet again in the spring of '07 not even 6 months after coming home.

Matt was amazed at the well wishes and genuine caring from here after he read some of the posts on here. Thank you all so much.

Pam, how are your friends with the deployed son? Redeployment should start soon(a few months) if they plan to come down and need help getting on post or making hotel arrangements or anything please let me know and I will pass on contact information.

We actually managed almost 17 days and thats alot of even if the road trips did include a trip his mothers and then mine LOL

The movers were here yesterday for our overseas shipment and will be here Mon-Wed for the storage. It is a HUGE pain. We will be putting dh on the plane on Saturday. I know it is going to be really hard on dh and the kids.

He will love your hair. I bet it is cute.

It really depends on the division he's attached to. The 101st is like a revolving door. Our guys are hardly home before they are deployed again but other divisions deploy much less frequently.

I was thinking that he must have left yesterday. I know my DH's leave started on a Wed. and he returned on a Fri. And I probably DID make a scene . You did good! You are way over the halfway mark, so hang in there, he will be home soon! And then you get another wonderful reunion! Glad you guys had a great time on r and r.

Absolutely. Our local reserve unit is deploying later this year for the 3rd time since 9/11. My dh is not with them, but he has been called again (as an individual). He was let off the hook for now since he has not been home a year. But that is not a rule.

LOL Well we practiced a bit at it I know that if it happens we will be thrilled but we aren't on that mission yet until we have an idea what is going to be happening by the end of the year. We also have our eye on some little pink combat boots

I don't really know much about how the reserves or the guard work to be honest. I was under the impression that if someone is called up for 12-18 months then they have to have 2 years off after that but because its "wartime" that may not be true. This is our 3rd deployment in 5 years and looks like we have our eye on #4 next though hoping nothing comes of it. I'm glad your kids' dad made it home safely.
