R & R Coaster Will I survive?

Ride it and report back. If we don't hear from you, we'll assume that you didn't survive.

:rotfl2:

Not much of a coaster person either but if you can do SM than you will LOVE RnR.

Can't do Space any longer either. My back hurts for the rest of the day.

My suggestion is keep your hear back on the rest as much as possible, I plant my foot against the front of the seat, if that makes sense. It gives me more leverage to keep my head back and prevent my head from hurting

This can't be emphasized enough - and it goes for every roller coaster with a high back. You should literally press your head into the seat, and the ride will be much more enjoyable. My family and I are roller coaster fanatics, but I hate SM. RnR is my top choice of anywhere.

This is such a great ride. You should give it a try. If you don't like it, the upside is it is over really fast. I love it, but it is one of the shortest rides in WDW.

Is the blast off really bad? Do you feel like you are losing your breath?

Yes, it's that bad if you're a coaster wimp. I rode it several years ago and can still remember the terror. I was talking to my husband and then BAM. I screamed for the entire ride. My husband thought I would have a heart attack. I survived but I will never ride it again. It was the trip I decided to face my fears. I rode EE - another never again. I was so shaken up after R&R that I couldn't ride ToT.
My kids loved the ride photo!

Let me the echo the advice of pressing your head firmly into the headrest. It was just my instinct to do that the first time I rode and I have enjoyed myself tremendously each time, I am convinced, because I do that. Personally, I get a feeling of euphoria each time the ride takes off that causes me to laugh like a hyena from the force of the take-off - I love it.

Space Mountain, strangely enough, as has been talked about is far rockier and unwieldy and also seems to last longer and of course the compartments are rather cramped.

Well my kids have always survived but no way will I ride it.

I've told them if someone gives me a million dollars, then I'd consider it.

I can handle BTMRR and have rode Space Mountain a couple of times to get the kids to behave when they were little (if you are good, I'll take you on Space Mountain at the end of the day bribery).

the launch is fairly intense - it's not a huge deal when you are expecting it but if you need to take in a breath at that moment, it might be a second or two before you can do so.

I survived it FOUR times last week!!! Wish I was surviving it this week, but alas, work pays for the next SURVIVAL. Love that roller coaster!!

Wow... you guys are awesome. Such diverse experiences. I think I may just have to be a big girl and try it. Thanks for the "head back" trick.
Geez, I didn't know it went upside down!:scared1:

Wow... you guys are awesome. Such diverse experiences.

Here's a "diverse experience" that is off topic a bit, but funny nonetheless. Back in the early 80's, my brother and I went into the MK with a mutual friend who we connected with in FL for a day. Just a "pop in, pop out" visit before grabbing some dinner at the LBV Village. He was a competitive surfer, and a tremendous athelete. (Starting Defensive Back for a Division I football team). He had never been to WDW before and was skeptical that he could have fun there. So my brother and I rushed him over to SM, then over to BTMRR, the over to the Tea Cups, then back over to SM, then to Peter Pan all at a breakneck pace. After exiting Peter Pan, he calmly walked over to a garbage can and proceeded to puke like a hero, regained his composure, and acted as if nothing had happened. I'm pretty sure it was the combination of the Tea Cups and SM that did him in, but to this day we tease him about being the only person ever to lose their lunch after riding Peter Pan. :lmao:

The amazing thing is that after 18 years in the Navy, I don't get sea sick, but some coasters KILL me. SM is ok, RnR was tough, but I won't ride Alpengeist at BGW anymore.

The truth is... I am a coaster wimp. I'm ok on Space because I can't see the ground. (Dark is good!) How will I handle this bad boy?
I survived! But I ain't going to lie... I came out with white knuckles I was squeezing on so tight! Honestly, RnRC caught be by surprise my first time. I also rode single rider so I didn't have a buddy on there with me! Oh man, I'm so ready to ride it again! I loved it!

If you can ride SM, you can definitely ride RnR. It's so much smoother and also in the dark. SM makes me feel sick, but as long as I press my head back against the seat, I'm good to go on RnR! :) Have fun!!

The only similarity between SM and RNRC is they are both in the dark that's about where the similarities end, I don't get people comparing the two?

SM goes at top speed 27 mph, it has no inversions, uses a traditional lift hill, and has a lap bar restrain.

RNRC uses a LSM launch system that propels the vehicle from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. It's has 2 inversions. Uses an over head restraint system, and has a top G Force of 4.5

This is no way to meant to scare you just to give you accurate information, the two coasters are not similar. That said try it just once and prepare for the launch. It is the most intense part of the ride. My fiancé won't ride the Hulk coaster again(another LSM launching coaster) but loves RNRC.
