QVC is still a thing?

I still watch QVC, but haven't bought anything in a long time because their prices are way too high. There used to be good deals but not anymore.

Yes -- my mom loves it. I always look at QVC boxes sideways when they arrive at our house. Most of the time, it's something one would only understand if they'd watched the videos.

I've never bought anything from a shopping channel or paid any attention to them. A few weeks ago it was artic cold here and I hadn't been able to sleep and was trying to at least relax since I was tired. My husband woke up to find me bundled on the sofa watching TV -- what are you watching? The shopping channel. He looked at me like, should I be worried, have you hit your head? It was all about flowers from a company who sells mostly bulbs and bare root cuttings of plants, like a Breck's catalog in vivid color on the TV screen. I was escaping to spring and summer in my mind, watched the entire hour.

But, you can create a custom list with Dish and only include channels you want to see. You'll still receive the channels, but you don't have to scroll by them.

I wish they would go off the air!
It definitely seems to target lonely, elderly women.

My MIL works for QVC - I don't normally shop there but her discount is too good to beat so I tend to order some makeup from them.

It's not that they're blocked. It's just a custom list that only has the channels you want. It's a little tedious to set up the first time, but oh, so worth it!

Yup I knew but then again every so often I find myself tuning into them or HSN. QVC 2 & 3 are only in SD on U-Verse so mostly it's just QVC I'll see as I really only watch HD channels. Sometimes it's just fun to watch them when you're bored (okay at least for me lol) and sometimes it's good to get ideas or things to keep in mind.

I've only bought 1 thing from those chopping channels although I went straight to their website at that time..it was HSN and it was actually my bridesmaids dresses which were beautiful, that was back in end of 2012 though when they were purchased. We almost bought a paint sprayer from QVC last summer but ended up with a comparable one for slightly less but easily purchased locally from Harbor Freight (if anyone knows what that place is).

I have bought from LTD Commodities over the years and that's sorta similarish but not exactly.

I wish Facebook marketed differently and yes I know just how they are choosing to market lol. The vast crap my mother-in-law has bought from FB ads is ridiculous....seriously. Most of it is crap stuff, likely overpriced for what it is, makes no sense on buying. Like for Christmas as a stocking stuffer mother-in-law got us all these weird metal julienne slicers and the packaging has no english on it just Chinese characters....Thankfully she hasn't really gotten into the home shopping thing because she'd be spending like crazy. Her thing is Amazon and FB but at least on the Amazon front she's not as bad as I think she would be if she watched QVC or HSN all the time.

After my mother died I found about two dozen unopened packages from QVC/HSN in her closet and drawers. Some costume jewelry, clothing, cosmetics, and a few other trinkets.

She DID use/wear most of what she bought and I know she loved watching the cooking segments.

But I am amazed that Fingerhut is still around.

That was my moms favorite company. She bought so much stuff from Fingerhut and spent oh so much time looking over the catalogs that came almost daily in the mail.

Fingerhut is geared towards people who buy stuff on payments--you know, this widget can be had for just $4.33*! (* 8 payments of $4.33. plus handling fees)

I confess, I like to watch the food programs and figure out the price per pound of their salmon/pot stickers/steaks. They seem to be popular, but I can't figure out who would need to buy them. Everywhere I've lived, I had a good butcher in the area--even rural. Now that we live coastal, we have a great seafood source, too, but even when we were a few hours from the ocean, we could get good seafood.

A lot of their stuff is sheer marketing hype--you can only get this color vacuum here! It's exclusive to us! Okay, but does anyone really care what color their vacuum is?

I also think that 2020/2021 have been hideous years for fashion. If we happen to catch a fashion shopping show on our way by, we laugh at how awful the clothes look.

I dunno, maybe it makes sense if you live in the hinterlands, or have mobility issues and can't get out much.
