A while ago a friend of mine tried to introduce me to a "work at home" program called Quixtar. Basically from what I understood you shop through a portal and earn a percentage of the purchases as salary. Then you refer people to the same program and you earn a precentage of their purchases and so on. It sounded like a bit of a pyramid to me (of course the assured me that it wasn't like that) so I didn't bite. But I was wondering, since there are so many people "out there" if anyone had heard of it and what their experiences were. It just got me curious as to what the real scoop on it was. Not that I am going to change my mind about joining...

AS in it is the same company? We have heard the Amway talk too a long time ago we weren't impressed by it but there was the similarity in that Quixtar has their own products. Also you can by from other online stores so I didn't think it was the same thing. Same process but not the same company. So is it owned by Amway or do you mean it is Amway-ish?

Yes, it is the former Amway. However, it is not a pyramid as some of the programs on this very board have been. On a pyramid, there are no actual goods or services exchanged, just money. Kind of scary!

My parents have been members for quite some time and so are we. You can make a living on it but it is hard to do as your group needs to generate a lot of volume. You get paid on a percentage of what is purchased through your group (of people that you sign up.) It's really not a lot different than most "referral" type programs, except that it isn't a "one-time" referral bonus. You get paid a percentage as long as you and those people who you sign up continue to be members and make purchases.

With Quixtar, the way I look at it is this: I am going to buy this stuff anyway, I may as well get paid for it. You can't deny the efficacy of the cleaning products, that is for sure. Nowadays you can purchase virtually anything (even from major retailers) through the online network so it is pretty cool. Like anything, your mileage may vary. There are many people who are in it for products only, like me. You will run into your people who do it as a way of life as well. To each their own I say!

Hope this helps!

My husband used to sell Amway many many many years ago. The one product that I truly love is the spray on stain remover. It is some potent stuff. What I like best is that it will take out grease stains from clothing without any problem. It even works on grease stains that are very old. You do need to hold your breath when you spray it on the clothes because, like I said, it is a very potent spray but it definitely works. It is funny because the last can I ordered looks just like the cans I used to get many years ago.

Quixtar is just a web based shopping site. I haven't had any problems using my local web site store.

ok I get it now. I knew there was something that I was missing. I sold Tupperware years ago or correction I tried to sell. I am not a sales person, not good at convicing people of the value of the product so I knew this just wasn't for me. I am terribly shy as well so it wasn't something that was going to mesh with my personality. My friend does swear by the products though. I haven't tried them myself.

Lesroi is 100% correct about Quixtar...my husband and I signed up recently through my step-sister and family....It is not Amway....you do not carry any inventory....it's just a portal for internet shopping....And, you don't have to sign up to be a full fledged Quixtar dealer ... There is the option to be a member or client and receive some benefits too..Discounts, points, etc....the cleaning products can't be beat (and they have the laundry tablets that I'll take to Disney)!!
