Quirky Cats

We have four cats and lost a sweet kitty in April.

Luna (oldest) - will only drink from the water bowl by dipping her paw in it and licking the water off.

Bellatrix (RIP sweet girl) - loved chicken and would make a racket if we made it for supper until she got some.

Remus Severus - he’s just a big weenie and doesn’t do much of anything g except he scared of everything.

Rowena - has to be in the open bathroom window while I shower. But only while I shower, not my husband.

Narcissa - newest kitten. She’s just nuts because she’s so young. We haven’t noticed any quirks yet.

I love cats!!!!
Love the names!

Our girls Edwina and Beatrix used to wake us up by either rattling the blinds in the bedroom,or dip their paws into our waterglasses on the headboard and flick us with it to wake us up.At the time we lived in a second floor condo, and so had a balcony. They would sit and the balcony and catch birds, then bring them into the house. That was fun...

Me too!

We have two (nearly) 10 month old kittens and one is the WEIRDEST cat I've ever had. He loves the water, has jumped in the bath with my daughter and I had to take him out as he wouldn't get out himself. He's nearly fallen off our banister multiple times and doesn't care. My husband offered him turkey the other day and he wouldn't eat it, but he stole a salt and vinegar potato chip out of my hand and wolfed it down and tried to steal another. He also is obsessed with bags and tape and will chew on both. Neither is afraid of the vacuum, in fact when it's on they will walk up to it and sniff it.

I had eight cats - lost two of them :sad1:

Dodge (rip) - loved to play fetch with anything small and shiny. Being the only outdoor cat - he had to be dried with 'his' towel if he'd been out in the rain

Hobbes (rip) - would only eat Maine Coon dry food and nothing else - (he was a Pixie-Bob so very clever and fussy!)

Riley - will prod his bowl and meow to let you know you should put something in there. Also will lie in any sink.

Jack - likes to lie in your arms like a baby and get a cuddle. Also likes to drink out of the tap.

Salem - will sit outside where the catfood is stored and meow just to make you aware that he know's it's there and could you please put some in his bowl

Arwen - likes to perch on the uncomfiest looking places like the top of the scratching post for a sleep or on shoes!

Severus - likes to pull the kibble out of the bowl and eat it on the floor - also sleeps with his eyes open and tongue out. Gave us a fright the first few times he did this!

Luna - likes to chase and catch her tail like a dog! Will also hide under things and grab you as you go past.

You don't need a tv when you have cats!

We've got two cats, two weird things. Whenever the garbage truck comes, one cat stops whatever he's doing (or wakes from a dead sleep), runs to the front window to sit and watch intently, then goes back to whatever he's doing. The other cat only drinks from the water faucet in the bathroom, so even if we go away, we have to leave the water dripping. We always tell the pet sitter not to turn off the dripping faucet in the bathroom.

One of mine pretty much only drinks out of the faucet. And while he is in there, that is when he deems it pet/love on me time. He only purrs and gets lovey in the bathroom. He will meow and wake me up in the middle of the night to give him lovings in the bathroom. And not just normal pets and loves. Straight up attack the face love. The amount of scratching, rubbing, petting, massaging I have to do on his face is down right abusive!!! We call him our little alien cat because he really is just a strange little being. We do believe that he had some mild head trauma when he was a kitten. My dd found him as a stray at a mall parking lot. He has always had one eye that is semi-closed, bulgy and gunky. He'll lay in off places in the yard and around the house. You know, just not quite in the middle of the room, random places in the hallway, half on the dvd player etc.

We are "baby-sitting" 2 cats right now. So far it has been almost a year. (yes I am aware we have 2 cats now. LOL) One of the kitties likes to play tag. She will chase my middle son around and whack him. My son will chase her back and they continue. The other kitty likes to "hunt". There is a mitten both constantly catch and bring to us for treats.
Aww, I used to have a cat that we would chase each other. We would run from each other, hide and then jump out. He loved it. I miss my Mudgie!

Our older boy is a cat I inherited when my cousin passed away. He is a confirmed "bachelor cat" in that he doesn't like fish or seafood anything-real or flavored and prefers cheese burgers, Cheetos, fried chicken, Arby's roast beef and basically any other unhealthy fast food/convenience type food that comes into our house. He will sit and paw at your or put his paws on the table to get your attention in hopes you will share the junk (he's a very tall cat and easily reaches several inches onto the table top when standing on the floor).

The same cat feels like he must sneak into bed with us, only climbing onto the bed when we are asleep and leaving before we wake up in the morning.
Sweeney will not touch people food with the exceptions of sweet Lebanon bologna, mint ice cream, and cheeseburgers.

... He is fixed, but has a “girlfriend” in a hot pink fleece blanket previously owned by my DD. (She gave it to him after he had his way with it.)...
Our previous cat fell passionately in love with one of my oven mitts. He was fixed, too, but that didn't seem to slow him down one bit. They had such a longstanding affair that when he passed away, we buried them together. Cats can be so odd...

Tazio likes to be under covers. On the couch we put a loose weave afghan over him and he'll stay there for hours. He can see out through the holes but he thinks he is invisible. In the bed he will get under the blanket and lie up against us, but there has to be a sheet in between. He doesn't want to touch skin.

My cat used to steal things when he was annoyed with you---he would select the object based on the scent of whoever he was annoyed with.

His phase he's been in for several years now is loves to play with drips of water from the tub and gets annoyed when I can't get the faucet to drip just right.

Our cat is actually great at night in that he doesn't attack our feet or keep us up throughout the wee hours. He must go up to bed with us and lay at the edge of the bed until we turn off the light and actually go to sleep (playing on phones doesn't count for him lol). Once that happens he gets up and does his thing or lays down somewhere in the room. He doesn't bug you in the morning until he senses you're actually getting up. Part of his ritual is that if you stay upstairs during the day too long he gets annoyed and if you stay downstairs or stay up too late if you went upstairs he gets annoyed.

Hair ties are his newest obsession.

I also think my cat has a thing for patterns. He loves to bring us his toys overnight upstairs sometimes on our bed but mostly just on the floor. Multiple times I've found the hair ties in an arc shape the next morning. The other day I woke up to this which was downstairs:
421453
Those toys were just haphazardly around the first level of the house before I went to bed...

Cats are definitely creatures of habit!

My ginger boy has pica disease. He's eaten hair ties, anything made from silicon (goggle straps are a favourite), fun foam crafts and even the foam mats that interlock. I spent $3000 getting a chunk of that removed from his intestine after all non surgical methods were exhausted. He actually broke into a room with a baby lock to get in the room with the foam mats. They have now been removed from the house. the vet showed me what they removed, they couldn't figure out what it was. When I told them the vet tech said i'll be right back, apparently they line the kennel with those foam mats, she went to remove it from Caboose's kennel.

I got my first cat about five years ago. When I'm reading in bed lying propped up against the headboard, she likes to rub the side of her face against the edge of the book or magazine I'm reading. She does this a few times, then walks on top of me to the nightstand. Then she will return across me and repeat the process a few times before lying down a few feet away from me.

In the beginning she'd often nibble or swat at my cheek about 4am to let me know it's her breakfast time. But she rarely does that anymore.

Our white cat gets obsessed with things. Right now he is obsessed with his toenails. When he's cleaning himself he will spend several minutes picking at his toenails on his back feet. He saw our other cat paw the water bowl to make the water move before drinking it. He now has to move the whole bowl a couple of inches before drinking. We now have the bowl in a plastic liner that goes under house plants.

He is very much a creature of habit. He has certain times he takes his naps. If he is running late he washing with a vengeance. And if you touch him he has to start all over.

Scotgirl, you are right! They are endlessly entertaining. Bijou's reaction to the halter I got had us laughing, she just kept rolling. And she thinks she's handicapped with it on, won't jump or even walk much. Hmmm, keeps her calm.

I want another kitty I can cuddle like a baby. Might have to get a little dog, no luck since the Tonk.

Figured out photos finally. Too big?
