Quilting Magazines

I don't usually come over here but I need some help from the experts. We'd like to get my MIL a subscription to a quilting magazine. She loves to sew and is quite good at it. She recently started quilting. Do you have any suggestions for which one we should get? Any and all help is appreciated. I am totally clueless about this stuff. Thanks!

As a new quilter who just sews for something to do and has no intention of becoming a pro, I especially like 2 publications: Quick Quilts and McCall;s Quilts and More.

Go to the magazine section of Barnes & Noble. There are so many quilting magazines. It really depends on what you think her style of finished projects does she prefer? What has she done already? Traditional, contemporary, patchwork, crazy quilts, patterned, no patterns, geometric, applique added, etc.

I love Quilting Arts Magazine, but I'm really into contemporary, more artistic type of quilting, with mixed media add ons.

I also love making crazy quilts, becasue there are no patterns and I loe being able to use a variety of colors, fabric textures, lace, trim, ribbon, etc. But, it is an extremely different style from quilts made from patterns.

So you can buy your MIL a quilt magazine, but if it's not her style, she will just end up thumbing through it every month.

I agree with these suggestions. Quick Quilts usually has some internet bonus links in their magazines.
