Quiet resort for toddlers?

I have a 1 year old and 3 year old. I'm looking for something quiet, not a ton of walking, possibly close to MK. I'm ok if there's transportation involved like buses. I realize I will need to compromise some to get a quiet resort.

Truthfully I was looking at Fort Wilderness because they have a boat ride to MK. But I'm hesitant because of getting around the place since everything is spaced out. Plus how long would it take to get to Epcot, etc on the days we venture away?

I'm open to other resorts but everything was so loud and noisy the last time we went. I like peace. We will be going in April if that matters. Thanks.

The quietest monorail resort will be Grand Floridian. The Garden Wing at the Contemporary is also pretty quiet, with the note abut proximity to fireworks.

WL is generally quiet, although not monorail, but has construction.

Main wing at Contemporary, you are fine in-room, but the main building can be noisy.
Poly is highly dependent on where you are.

Disney is a noisy place.

Yeah that's what I figured. I went to GF on my honeymoon but I don't think we can afford that this time think we can afford it this time. I like Polynesian but it was always noisy when we ate there.

I'm considering AoA because it looks fun for the kids. I wonder how crowded it'll be in April tho? I'm also curious about the rooms. My 3 yo loves Ariel but those are smaller rooms right? She's into Nemo but are there nemo rooms? She's not a Cars or LK fan. So I don't know.

Normally, I would be all WL, but a,one ther closures there, the playground is closed. I wouldn't have wanted to take my toddlers to a resort where you had to travel to a different resort form a playground!

Off monorail, I would say Port Orleans Riverside is a lovely resort that is quite tranquil. The buses are pretty efficient and there's a boat ride to Disney Springs.

Yeah, I'm thinking "this is Disney we are talking about, it's not quiet anywhere"
It's just a noisy place.
Since WL would be a poor choice due to the playground issue, AKL felt the most "removed from Disney hustle and bustle"
If the playground is not something you'd use, I'd pick WL.

Well the only thing I have issue with is the small rooms supposedly at AKL. With two littles, one still on formula and diapers plus strollers, etc. I can't afford to be in a small room. Way too cramped you know?

To be honest, I don't think you are going to find a place that you can count on being consistently quiet unless you go with a cabin at Fort Wilderness.

Rooms at AKL are larger than rooms at POR, or AoA.

Really??? Ok I'll look into AKL a bit more.

Truthfully fort wilderness is my perfect stay BUT hubby is there on work conference so he will be leaving early every morning and I have a feeling it would put him out to take a bus to the car each day.

Saratoga Springs is almost eerily quiet. The only downside is you only have the option of bus transportation everywhere, with the exception of being able to take a boat or walk to Disney Springs. You could get 1 or 2 bedroom villa here, too.

Ok the AoA family suites are 200 sq feet bigger than the AKL rooms. I can't post pics it seems but I have two floor plan pics from google. The AoA is waaaaay bigger.

Suites yes. But you mentioned LM rooms.
And AoA is about as not quiet as you can get.

If you choose Ft. Wilderness you can park your car right in front of/next to your cabin. It will be right outside the door.

Hmmm. Well the other thing is I hated the food at AKL. Saratoga might work. Buses everywhere is almost a given no matter where you are. I just hate one bed is a sofa foldout. I'd like two queens or something you know? It feels hopeless right now.

Really?! Nice. That might solve that one. But what about getting around with a 1 and 3 year old? Ask for a cabin near the boat to MK? Then take buses everywhere else? I mean we will be at MK mostly. But we will probably do 1 day at Epcot and 1 at Hollywood.

I'll stick with the POR recommendation, then, with a toss in for POFQ as the sister resort with less walking and only one bus stop.

2 queen beds. Alligator Bayou has a fold-down bed as well.
Pretty peaceful.
Food is at least okay, with easy access to Disney Springs for more choices.

Where is the work conference? Which conference center? If it's at the Coronado Springs center, Coronado is pretty peaceful if you stay out of El Centro while conference-goers are in for beer. Just be sure to request Cabanas as your village.

Well I'm not sure hubby will like Mardi gras theme. He's at a conference outside of disney. We are hoping to get hotel money to put towards the room instead of us staying on site and commuting like last year. Nightmare. Parking fees, lines for parking, I had to come back for afternoon nap as soon as I got there then turn back around and take him back with our girl that night. Crazy.

Riverside isn't Mardi Gras. It's more Southern mansions.

FQ is the Mardi Gras side. Riverside is more a peaceful river, trees, horse-drawn carriages and mansions. Much less New Orleans and more rural south in theme.

Coronado is a southwest theme. They don't have a good splash pad for toddlers, though, just a kind of meh wading pool.

First, there are no cabins near the boat to MK at FW. There are 2 cabins in one loop that is near the Settlement, but those seem to be for VIP or unexpected magic. To get from your cabin to the Settlement, you would need to take an internal bus, walk, or rent a golf cart for the week. To get to the bus for Epcot, DHS, or AK, you would need to go to the Outpost, near the FW entrance (opposite end from the Settlement/MK transport).

http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/FWMap.pdf - Cabins are the 2100+ loops.

Any resort you chose has the chance of not being as quiet as you would want, but somethings to help would be to request farther from the main buildings and/or pools.
