quiet pool question

I know this must seem like a really stupid question, but I'll go ahead and ask so I can find out the answer.

What are the quiet pools meant for? Should everyone there stay quiet? Can children swim in these pools?

I'm asking because I read another thread that mentioned something about adults only in the quiet pool and now I'm confused.

Thanks!!

Quiet pool is something of a misnomer. By that, Disney means that these are not the main pools, they have no water slides or other big amenities. They are smaller and tucked in the resort by the rooms that are farther from the main pool.

They are only quiet because most kids and others are at the main pool. My kids and I all swim in the quiet pools in the evenings because it is easier to just get in and out without walking. But feel free to have as much fun as you would at any other pool.

DisneyPete summed it up pretty well! The quiet pools are great, especially if the main pools are crowded.

When we stayed at CBR we went to the quiet pool near our building and had it practially to ourselves. Our DSs loved it! And you don't have to be quiet at all :sunny:

We referred to the quiet pools as kiddie pools. My ds asked if he could go to the cat pool. I said "the cat pool?" He siad "yeah you know the kitty pool" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Everyone else is right!

They are only called quiet pools b/c they are not the main pool. They are NOT intended only for adults...LOL! My children love the quiet pools and lord help the "child-hating" adult that tries to retire to the "quiet" pool to escape the kids!!! :rotfl2:

I know the thread you are referring to.....some guy from Germany said the quiet pools were only for adults. He must not know too much about WDW!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

The only time you must be quiet in one is if the pool is closed. It isn't fun trying to get some sleep when people are making a lot of noise in a quiet pool just outside your window. Nor is it fun to wake up because people in the closed quiet pool or the also closed nearby whirlpool are being too noisy. I have stayed at Disney's Vacation Club (now called Old Key West) in a second floor room very close to a quiet pool and whirlpool. Some noise during the day when the pool is open is reasonable. But to have a lot of noise from there at night when the pool is supposed to be closed is not. I have sometimes thought that the Stormtrooper costumes from Star Wars weekends would be useful in getting the people to leave and let me get some sleep at night.

Thank you for your replies! :)

I'm glad to know that my kids can have fun in the quiet pools too. :sunny:

And yes, I agree that it's not good to swim after the pool is closed because it disturbs people. By the way, if my sons (5 & 7) saw you in your Storm Trooper costume they would be thrilled, so that plan might not work to clear the pool!! pirate: At WDW we usually get up early and go to bed early, so we won't be swimming late at night.

Thanks again! :wave2:
