Hi,

Wife, 3 year old son and I will be spending Dec 27 to Jan 12 in Florida. We are booked at Worldmark Kingston Reef (visiting Sea World, Discovery Cove) for Jan 1 to 5, then 5 to 12 at Disney's Vero Beach. Am trying to figure where we should stay for the first 5 nights including New Years. We will not be going to theme parks then. Just want a quiet, relaxing place. Any ideas? Will have a car so it could be outside of Orlando even. Ty for any replies!

quiet and orlando - for NY's - how far out of Orlando are you willing to go?

davenport exit 55 I4 has several nice places - and should be far enough away to quiet - however the traffic is another problem. hwy is 27 (now also SRS 25 - I think)

just put in google MAP Interstate 4 Davenport, Fl exit 55 - and the hotels should come up

if you go with the Holiday Inn find the post here that will give you a discount

Am willing to go pretty far afield. Haven't booked flights yet (waiting on some mileage plan rewards coming due in next month) so could touch down and initially start our trip anywhere like Tampa or wherever. Will look into Davenport. Ty for the tips!

The beach would be nice. There are a lot of beaches that do not have a lot of tourist.

What exactly is your idea of quiet and relaxing?

Beach could be great. Any specific recommendations?

Just somewhere not crazy busy or loud. Tall order that time of year I know. We will be in bed asleep well before midnight on New Years Eve. A house or cabin might work. Just looking for ideas.

I agree a house or cabin may be best. I don't have any recommendations for a house or cabin but a lot of people like Amelia Island and Honeymoon Island.

My family beach vacations are at Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Treasure Island (all same general location) but my be too loud for you. For example, many families love Tradewinds Resort and Alden Resort (next door). The Don Cesar is featured on the travel channel as the "Pink Palace" and is also long same beach several resorts down. The Don Cesar would be the one that would be quiet compared to the other family resorts. I worked an international conference there and will say their standard rooms are extremely tiny! Almost like cruise ship tiny. It's an expensive resort though.

Just an update, after doing some research we settled on the Hilton Clearwater Beach. Got a good rate, can test my Hilton Gold status for the first time and Clearwater looks really nice. If we stay on west coast time we actually all might be up for New Years midnight and I understand they have a pretty decent family friendly event at the pier there. So ty for getting us pointed in that direction!
