Quiet/Leasure Pools

I read somewhere that the quiet pools now have a closing time. My sister and her teen kids love to sit/swim at the pool very late at night and always picks her resort based on whether it has a quiet pool. Does anyone know what time the closing is at the quiet pools now? This is somewhat disappointing. Especially when it is hot. I wonder why Disney decided to do this?

The change came about after a 14-year-old boy drowned in a pool at POP when lifeguards were off-duty. Pool hours are seasonal, but it's usually an 11:00 pm close. With that said, there are also quite a few leisure pools that don't close overnight. Best to check the hours once you arrive.

There are fewer pools that don't close now. Most are now gated, as Disney is bringing them into compliance with Florida state law. Many were grandfathered.

No body know the real reason. Just lots of very educated guesses. WDW is in the process of fencing in all pools. I heard that the pool regulations for Florida have changed and WDW must become compliant.

Yes, I did notice during our last visit in December, that they put gates around many of the pools. So the question still remains, do they close the quiet pools also?

As I understand it, as of this past January, all quiet pools close at a certain time now. I'm not sure if it's the same hours as the main pool or different. Just that they do close and their swimming hours are posted.

It's really sad if you can't swim after 11 pm. There is so much going on with being in the parks until LATE (extra magic hours) and if you want to swim at night to avoid the crowds and sunburns, you really have to go to a quiet pool to do that. I know the main pools have been closing when life guards are not on duty, but almost all the quiet pools never had life guards to begin with. I understand about fencing them so children don't wander in and drown, but really though, grown adults should be able to take a midnight swim.

As I have said elsewhere, you can always just book a Poly Bungalow and get a private plunge pool. Problem solved.

Some people have rooms that face the pools and don't want to hear the noise all night.
I think that's the bottom line. Too many complaints. Lots of people think they're quiet when they swim late at night, but really they're not.

I find it odd that some of these views are more expensive room categories. I would rather look at the parking lot than people laying out by the pool or listen to the noise from the pool. I guess it is how far you are from the pool too...like the rooms from Samoa at the Poly seem great because you have that buffer of the walkway. To each his own.
