We will be in WDW for a short trip Dec.5-8 2009. I am thinking of trying the quickservice plan, since we will be there for such a short amount of time, and with shorter park hours, we don't want to do a TS each day, and will most likely do al CS, with one character meal thrown in for the kids. I'm just trying to decide if it makse sense to do the QSDDP or if we are better off paying OOP. We wouldn't usually get Dessert at a CS, but do b/c it is on the DDP. I know it is a great value for the kids, I'm just not sure if DH and I will eat $30 worth of food each each day. Plus we will still pay OOP for our character meal, leaving an extra CS most likely. Can we trade 2 CS credits for a TS?

Also.... I know we get a refillable mug each with the QS plan, but that does not really hold much value to us $$ wise, as we will not be at the resort much to actually use it on such a short trip. It's an ok souvenier, but I could really just take it or leave it, KWIM???

I just wanted to get some other peoples' opinions on what to do...It's DH, Myself, And 2 kids...9 and 5....we will probably end up ordering DS9 extra fries, etc. here and there OOP as well, as 4 chicken nuggets and fries just won't fill him up.

Any thoughts/tips are greatly appreciated.

TIA!!!

We are going for a quick trip from Jan 22-24. So two nights and we will be in the parks all three days. I did the math and it came out close provided you bought the drink cups and you bought desserts.(Which we never usually do) We will also have a TS somewhere in there, proboably at Epcot. We also plan to eat a late dinner at the POP food place.

Because we are eating one night at the POP and we liked the idea of paying for it all earlier and not after the trip we went with the plan. I alos like the idea of getting the desserts we don't usually look at. As for our TS and skipping a CS, we are there two nights so we get 4 CS meals for three days. No problem using a TS(oop) and CS in one day and have a CS left over for our last day. On our trip: Day 1 CSx2, Day 2 CS&TS(oop) and Day 3 CS and CS(oop). I have an 11 and a 8 year old. Another of the fringe benefits is now there will not be the 'I want everything' calls from the kids every time we pass a snack stand. They will have 4 snack credits to use over the three days. So they need to use them wisely. Between you and me we might add a couple depending on how they use them.

My big question is why so limited in World Showcase for the CS Restaurants. I read that might change by 2009 but I don't know when.

We are a lot like you...Would not normally buy a mug and wouldn't eat dessert at every CS unless it is included. When you take out those items, it isn't such a great deal, BUT it is paid for in advance that way, and I won't end up ordering chicken nuggets or a burger instead of some really delicious looking salad or flatbread sandwich, etc just to save a buck or two. And if the kids want a snack while waiting for a parade, etc, they can get one, provided they ration out their snack credits. I think we can get by with spending less without the plan, but we won't indulge as much. (although...i'd rather have fries and a Margarita for dinner than a full meal and no margarita..lol)

If you are doing it with a purpose of saving money alone, then no it isn't such a great deal. Like you, we do not normally get a dessert at counter service restaurant... However, we do like to purchase and frequently use the refillable mug and I like the convenience of having our counter service meals and snacks paid for in advance. We do not like to make daily ADR's so this plan just works well for us and we have added it to our March 2009 package.

...and I won't end up ordering chicken nuggets or a burger instead of some really delicious looking salad or flatbread sandwich, etc just to save a buck or two.

That says a lot. We always do that when we are off a plan so in a way, using the QS plan is like a Deluxe Economy way to go.

Good luck on deciding which way to go.
