I am trying to figure out if its faster to drive to the MK from either of these places or to use the transportation system. It seems like it is about 30 minutes using the transportation systems.

If you drive, do you go to the TTC and then take the monorail?

Also can't figure out which would work better for my family. We need 2 rooms. I really liked the Double Tree becaues they suites. But maybe it would be better at the Royal Plaza which isn't suites but $350 cheaper.

Then there is the French Quarter option. Is it worth the extra money to stay there? Is the dining plan worth it?

My kids are 3 1/2, 3 1/2 and 2 1/2. It will be me, my husband and my mom going which is why we need 2 rooms. We are also planning on returning to our room mid-day for the kids to take a nap.

I feel completely lost. We are going from 3/6-3/8 and are only planning on visiting the MK.

I think the Contemporary is just too much money. But if we spend 2 hours moving around each day at the other places maybe the Contemporary is worth it.

thanks for any help you can provide.

Most people who stay at WDW resorts report preferring taking Disney Transport to MK rather than driving. With driving, you have to park at TTC and then take the monorail or ferry.

There's no direct transportation between DTD and any theme park, so you'd be better off driving from there.

If you're only going to MK, consider the more expensive Contemporary option for the sheer convenience and time savings.

The Disney Dining Plan is worth it ONLY if you see yourselves doing one table service meal per day. If you aren't the table-service types and are like my family who each pretty much counter-service exclusively, then the DDP is a bad deal. But if you plan to do a table-service meal per day, then the DDP works out well.

it is not quicker to drive to the MK - you have to first park your car - then take a tram to TTC - then you have to take a ferry or monrail to the MK.

the DD hotels bus stop at TTC - so you still have to take the ferry or monrail.

the WDW hotels bus stop at walking distance to the MK.

the Cont is walking distance.

you might consider a 2-bedroom at VWL - it won't be cheap - no housekeeping if you rent from a DVC member. You want a reservation. this resort has both a boat and bus to the MK.

you can also rent from CRO

or a suite at WL.

If you compare the cost of two rooms at a moderate to one room at the Contemporary or Poly (which hold 5 people, plus one under 3 years of age), it's probably not that much difference in price, and the convenience is great. Plus, the Poly and Contemporary have queen size beds (plus a twin daybed) where the moderates have a double bed. Larger bed=better sleep!

We need 2 rooms because its my husband and I, my mom and my 3 kids. So I can't really get away without 2 rooms. That is what is really raising the cost so much.
